Slice of life anime's are boring

Someone recently rec'd the genre to me and wow I feel asleep in 3 different anime , defo not for me

Personally, I kinda like them sometimes. I find them relaxing. I think I appreciate them more after watching something with more action as it's like a breath of fresh air afterwards

I love action and sports anime so it was totally a random thing for me and it was just too boring, nothing happened with the plot hgkjfgfdjk

I watched a musical one and that was probs the most intriguing but just not enough to keep me paying attention

i love hyouka! but i could have easily told you that it wouldn't be for you lmao

the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya has got some sci-fi/fantasy elements sprinkled in but probably still too slow moving for you

That's the point of them actually. Most slice-of-life are targeting young adults who just are in the crazy Japanese workplace, so they may need something really mild, so the laidback characterization of the mundane daily life and slice-of-life humor is perfect fine for this.

One of my favorite ones is Hidamari Sketch. I fell asleep watching it a couple of times! Still loves it because it's so relaxing. Some can be even healing!

Of course if you want a blunter comedy or some conflict even if it's a minor drama, yeah slice-of-life isn't it. At least pure slice-of-life.

The Purpose of the genre is for people to relax after long hours of doing a recreational activity, seems like it is for you since it did make you sleep, and have a restful day.
