Quick thought about the Music Show Awards environment Itzy will be competing in:
EXO Baekhyun - he's been winning some shows despite not promoting any longer. His album sales have been crazy 400K (Mubank weighs that heavily), votes will probably be good but digitals (40s on melon), MV views not that great.
EXO SC - 200K, not charting well at all and MV views aren't great
Kang Daniel - 400K plus sales, MV views 4 million in 2 days and charts are going to be below Dalla Dalla level
NCT Dream - 100K plus sales, MV views 6 million in 2 days, not charting well

So if Itzy's Icy can land in top 10 charts and get the same type of MV views as DD, they have a pretty good chance at the music shows. They'll have to overcome the physical sales and the voting advantage by the boy group fandoms.

Looking at the physical sales vs charts ... such a contrast between kpop fandoms supporting their idols and what general populace listen to.

Icy, I’m encouraged by the yejisu vocals. I was concerned it wouldn’t be a SK friendly song. Right now seems mostly ballads can chart well.

I like the beats for both Cherry and I’z summer. Not sure what sort of vocals I’z summer will having since the clip just has Ryujin? Saying it’z my summer repeatedly.

Possibly it may lead to more casual non stans checking it out.

I think where the lack of promotions (tv variety, reality series, radio, etc) hurts them is not building a larger stable fan base. The type that will buy their albums and support them in activities such as voting on award shows.
