Your frequent photoshoots this year seem to hint at your growing interest. Has this become part of your personal challenges?
The theme of "challenges" frequently appears in your recent interviews. Does this include your upcoming children's song project?
You're embracing new challenges and thriving. It feels like Onew is in his hottest moment. When do you personally feel that "heat"?
That explains why fans often see concertgoers interacting during your performances.
At the time of this shoot, your birthday fan meeting hasn’t yet happened. How does it feel to celebrate your birthday with a concert-style event for the first time?
Fans must be thrilled with this effort. Which part of the event do you think they'll enjoy the most?
In the past, I didn’t enjoy photoshoots much because performing on stage and doing pictorials require very different approaches, and it felt awkward. But now, my perspective has changed. I’ve come to appreciate just showing my current state as it is and cherishing any moments that get captured beautifully. Creating new visuals has become a meaningful experience for me.

Exactly. I was invited to participate in soprano Jo Sumi's Christmas concert and perform a children's song as part of the project. It's a genre I haven't explored before, so I saw it as an opportunity to try something new. Looking back, I think I've always enjoyed taking on unique challenges, like when I performed opera during a solo concert. It’s about wanting to try something a bit different.

Probably during live performances. Recently, I’ve started appearing at festivals, which are very different environments from my usual venues. Some attendees may not even know who I am. Experiencing moments where the audience joins in singing along felt incredibly heartwarming. Seeing strangers connect and enjoy themselves together in one space is such a joy.

You noticed! (laughs) It might seem like a small thing, but encouraging people to greet each other genuinely lightens the atmosphere. It’s wonderful to have someone to share your love for something with, so I wanted to create those opportunities for fans.

Renting a concert hall for my birthday party is a first. Previously, I celebrated with smaller gatherings or live broadcasts. However, fans had been asking for something bigger, so we started planning this project early this year. It’s the longest-running project I’ve worked on.
Fans must be thrilled with this effort. Which part of the event do you think they'll enjoy the most?
We’ve prepared so much that it’s hard to pick just one thing. But I think they’ll really love the pre-released song. This is the first time I’ve mentioned its existence in an official setting—it was a well-kept secret. I even joked with fans, saying they’d regret not coming to the party. That was my little spoiler. (laughs) The birthday party will probably have been over by the time this interview comes out, but it's time that will never come back for me and my fans, so I hope you enjoy it.
