Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a shame there can't be an actual gameplay element in them, but I suppose it really is just the leveling system... unless you use items. The lessons aspect of the game is a bit boring for me so far
I feel like with the lessons it’s probably easiest to just have it running on auto on your phone while you do other things (errands, chores, using other devices, etc.)
On an extra note -The graphics and commentary are a bit unique to each characters’ personality (even the way they fly on the broom can differ) so it can help with learning more about them

For twst, the plot and characters are probably the strongest points rather than the gameplay tbh

I've never played that game, but from what I've read about it, um... not really? I don't think? I don't know.
There's a lot less emphasis on you as a character/player, and more on those already established in the game. Here's what the game is like, and here's the other characters in the game that you can collect and level up with, and use for battles and such.
I'm saving my gems for when someone from Pomefiore will be on rate-up... but it's a shame because I love the thrill of pulling for characters LOL.

Oh also speaking of lessons, do the daily lessons as well from time to time. You can get rewards like notepads or textbooks for leveling up spells, or alchemy tokens that can be traded in at the shop for items.
I'd recommend saving those for candies mostly since you'd need some to "groovify" the cards and they're like 12 tokens per candy
Sometimes you might get candy as a reward for the daily lessons too

No, I've just been following its progress off-and-on since it first came out in Japan. It checks so many of my boxes that I couldn't help but watch from afar, basically... LOL.
