[헤럴드POP=김지혜 기자] The debut single album by YG’s rookie group TREASURE has surpassed 200 thousand pre-orders, getting one step closer to setting the biggest sales record among all K-Pop artists who have made debut this year.
According to YG Entertainment on August 12, TREASURE’s first single album ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ pre-orders have been marked at over 200 thousand as of 11 AM.
With the physical copies being released tomorrow(13th), the pre-orders in Japan, China, and Korea are increasing in sequential order, so the pre-order volume is expected to rise even more.
At this rate, TREASURE’s debut album pre-orders will be the biggest among all rookie artists who have made debut in YG. Furthermore, TREASURE is expected to leave the biggest footprints among all K-Pop rookies of 2020.
YG stated, “The pre-orders on TREASURE’s ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ are continuing to rise, and we are producing a total of 250 thousand copies”. They added, “The responses got more heated in Japan after they made debut”.
TREASURE has previously reached 100 thousand pre-orders in 2 days and 150 thousand pre-orders in 3 days after they began accepting pre-orders, and according to the midway count, the number of orders in Japan and China have surpassed each other.
With the release of the album on the 7th and TREASURE’s activities began, the attention on members from Japan(YOSHI·MASHIHO·ASAHI·HARUTO) rose, which seems to have affected the local pre-order volume.
In fact, TREASURE’s title song ‘BOY’ from their first debut album topped Japan’s Line Music Top 100 Real-time chart, which is the biggest music streaming platform, was also ranked at no. 1 on Rakuten Music’s Real-time Comprehensive Rankings, and AWA’s Rising Chart. Not only the 6 major sports newspapers of Japan, but also terrestrial network programs including Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi Toyobi’ and TBS’ ‘Hayadoki’ spotlighted the news on the group’s debut.
Furthermore, TREASURE was placed on the top ranks of the 5 major charts of QQ Music, the biggest music streaming platform in China, as well as being ranked at no. 1 on QQ Music’s Top Rising chart in less than 24 hours since making debut. As a result, major Chinese portal sites including Baidu.com, Sina.com, Sohu.com, and QQ.com headlined TREASURE’s debut by writing articles titled, “The birth of the amazing monster rookies of YG”.
As a group targeting the global music market, TREASURE also topped iTunes charts in 19 different countries on the date of their song’s release, revealing their strong presence which is uncommon among rookies.
With their huge global success, they raised their rank on the US Billboard ‘Social 50’ chart announced on the 11th to no. 5. They also entered Billboard’s ‘Emerging Artists’ chart for 3 consecutive weeks.
TREASURE’s official YouTube channel subscribers also increased by 400 thousand after making debut, which add up to a total of 1.79M at the moment, while their MV for ‘BOY’ has also surpassed 10M views in 26 hours and is at a rising trend.
Meanwhile, TREASURE’s debut title song ‘BOY’ has a fierce track and a dance break drop which allow the listeners to focus on the group’s performance. The physical copies including all songs listed on ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ and their instrumental versions will be available starting on the 13th through YG SELECT and nationwide retailers online and offline.
