i want to discuss a "controversial" topic (to others it is)
when do you guys think is the "right" time for JYPE (div 3) to have the twice members start accepting semi / solo activities? such as cf/brand deals, product endorsement, attend fashion shows , magazine shoots , accept being a brand ambassador etc... or will twice be forever be known as a group who does everything together? not that there's anything wrong with it.
but let's face it, some brand deals , magazines , and all those that I've mentioned + more, only want certain member/s and not the whole group. we can't even fathom the amount of calls JYPE denied because of that fact. especially for tzuyu, I feel like that girl would have been plastered everywhere (especially in taiwan), if no rules was implemented. same case with the J-line in Japan.
I get that they didn't want another MissA to happen with twice, but to this degree? I feel like they should have at least accepted a few and let the girls experience such activity on their own.
what do you guys think?
will JYPE keep twice run as a group in all their activities till they retire, or should they start letting the girls be free?
pros: more money for the girls; learns how to be more independent; exposure.
cons: the girls relationship with each other might take a hit; another catastrophic event may happen that involves korea-japan-china-taiwan (yes it's stupid, but it could happen)
edit reply added:
some people here seems to not get my question.
it's not really about solo activities such as songs / albums / drama etc.. it's more on the fact that you don't see any twice members having a solo brand deals / endorsement or the likes.
you guys do know that you don't physically have to be on site to do some brand deals right? there are some whose only requirement is for them to use a twice member/s name to represent their product. other brands/product deal may only require the girl/s to wear their brand/product to represent them. there are alot of ways where deals can be made with only a signature needed.
the most taxing they could have accepted are magazine photoshoots that takes no morethan 1-2 days to film.
but in the end, you don't see JYPE accepting any of it.
how much millions so far do you guys think tzuyu or the j-line was denied because of such decisions made by the company?
if your guess is around 1-5million, then you're way off.
tzuyu alone in the 3+ year run in twice, pretty much lost 20m+ in brand deals and all that jazz.
you guys have no idea how much some of the members name alone cost.

I think jyp will keep twice as a group until something happens like a scandal which I hope never happens and when that happens JYP might do some other stuff. JYP will prob keep them as a group until retire/disband though
i honestly thought that some of the members would have cf deals by now but idek what jyp is doing with them

They do have some solo activities but it's not the direction JYP nor the girls want atm
things will definitely change in the future but as for now, they are so busy and successful together
there's no need to overwork one member on top of group activities,
it never ends well and we all know Twice as a group won't be taking long hiatuses like missA so one member can shine

I’m on mobile right now so i can’t write an essay and this deserves an essay...what i’ll say for now though, is the moment you give tzuyu a solo is the moment twice will fall apart lol
Stay tuned to the full version!

They will have their solo activities later 2020/2021, sometimes we forget that Twice is not even 4 years old with all of their achievement. just need wait a bit.
i will agree and like if they have solo album for some member and drama/film gigs but will not agree if they do sub unit.
it seems OT9 are really great dynamics for the group its strange if they do sub unit!

its not about jype though. they girls wanted to endorse as a group. act as a group and be an idol as a group. they dont want any kind of that as of right now. they are completely fine.

I think as fans, we tend to see activity as a measure of popularity. So more CFs, more appearances on TV, etc. equals more popularity, hence more successful. But the appearance of success doesn't mean the most profitable. The purpose of any group is to generate revenue. As the only GG currently able to sell in excess of 300K albums per comeback, Twice as a group is able to make more money from album sales than any other GGs at the moment. Likewise, them performing together as a group in concerts will likely be the path forward for greater earnings. Right now, their major income streams are concerts, concert goods, group CFs, and physical + digital sales.
Going for individual activities will break that income stream up. If you look at all the idols who are active in variety shows, individual CFs, etc. they tend to do so when their group is on a haitus. But Twice as a group makes more money, so why put them on haitus? Also, for them to keep having concerts in the pipeline, they need to continually make new music. Hence more group comebacks and activities.
The way I see it, if Twice can maintain or even grow their album and concert ticket sales, they will go all the way to the end of their 7 year contract with primarily group activities. At that point, I hope all the girls re-sign with JYPE, during which time they will probably explore more of their individual goals and potential.

>:(I brought this up on OH before but the site is dead so I can't find that post to copy and paste alkdfj I can elaborate later but to keep it brief for now: I want to see them do solo activities by next year at the latest. I have so much faith in OT9 that I don't think doing (controlled) solo activities will harm the group. Years ago, maybe. At this point, no.
Fwiw, I prefer group activities over solo activities, but I don't wanna be selfish because rationally and to be completely frank, every group has an expiration. The girls will need to start building a name for themselves so they can thrive beyond Twice.

Solo activities are not something the members seem to be after right now. Sure they would get a fat bunch of CF's and even drama roles...but the group would be likely affected and look how terrible the solo stan culture has been for other groups, in some cases completely ruining the fandom.
For me the mild solo stuff they do is enough for now and hope they only do any individual activities when the embers are all up for it.

That’s ideal tho. What if one of their solos doesn’t work out? There are members who will succeed more being in twice than being solo. The girls will need to start building a name for themselves so they can thrive beyond Twice.

That's pessimistic. What if their solos work out? What if the members' success helps bring the group to the next level? What if, what if lol
In all seriousness, we will never know unless we try. If that's your basis for not wanting to see solo activities then we'll have to agree to disagree.
Edit:
Wait, also doing solo activities =/= leaving Twice tho

LOL I should've known. Anticipate. You saying Tzuyu having a solo will break the group apart hurts me tho so I'm not sure if I wanna hear it
some people here seems to not get my question.

tzuyu alone in the 3+ year run in twice, pretty much lost 20m+ in brand deals and all that jazz.
you guys have no idea how much some of the members name alone cost.

that's a brave assumption of numbers....
then you do the math, if no rules of gatekeeping was made, and tzuyu was made to accept all the brand deals she got from the start (especially from taiwan), how much money do you think that would have been in 3+ years time?that's a brave assumption of numbers....
for comparison, some current huge streamer / youtuber are being offered 500k-1m+ to play for a certain game for a couple of hours. their name against tyuzu. i'll wait.
