I really hope they do it like this too! I wasn't following JYP stuff at all but everyone was talking about the ITZY group teaser. I want people who don't know about SRG to hear about them because of the teaser

hello. i made an account just to keep updated on this thread lolol. im really excited about the new girl group. sm better deliver

my predictions:

-the group will have 7 members
-the members will be the 4 sm rookies and 3 hidden members
-yoo jimin will not be one of the hidden members. i have a feeling sm is going to keep her in the dungeon for another 10 years
-the group will start off with a fresh/cute concept, but will get darker
-will debut early 2020 (hopefully)

member predictions:

koeun - leader, lead vocalist
hina - main dancer, rapper/vocalist
ningning - main vocalist
lami - vocalist, visual, center, maknae?

hidden member predictions:

member #1 - lead dancer, lead rapper, english speaker of the group, maybe from america
member #2 - vocalist, visual, cutest member, probably a fan favorite
member #3 - main rapper, girl crush member, tallest member, not from korea, maybe short hair like amber?

-the hidden members will all be born after 2000 but probably not younger than lami
-they will not be a part of sm rookies beforehand
-there will be no filler members

Nice! sounds intriguing. If I were to make my own predictions I'd go for 7 - 9 members, 4 Rookies (Koeun, Hina, NingNing & Lami) + 3 - 5 hidden members including Jimin as one of them. To counter-argue your opinion on Jimin, I feel like if they had no intentions on debuting her anytime soon, they wouldn't have used her in Taemin's comeback and would've gone with someone else. Plus, they decided to promote a new trainee a year before they're debuting the group, so clearly she should be considered one of the shoe-ins at this point, because why would SM promote a trainee so close to the group's debut if they won't be a member? I also think the girl from the BBC Documentary will be a member. As for the concept I expect a cute concept like most people do

I think the number will most likely be 9-12 given that we now have 7 known trainees: mmc 4 + Jimin, BCC girl, and Helen (who I believe are all likely to debut) and sm will want to debut at least one completely hidden member. The age range will probably be '98 to '04. Cute-ish concept w a spring debut.

BCC girl: could really be anything based on what we've seen... but she gives me sub or lead vocalist vibes, not the main vocalist but vocals are her focus.

Member #2: Another Chinese member, dance-focused, visual.
If 10-12 members:
Member #3: Main rapper continuing the SM rapper redemption arc started by Mark, Korean ethnicity but could be from abroad.

and ofc any of the girls from bcc girl - #5 could be the maknae, oldest member, or another English speaker.

honestly i'm expecting one of those to happen. I feel like the potential final line up has already been decided.

Is there any member you are 100% sure will be in the final lineup? I think Jimin because she is the one promoted most recently. I thought Shining Star OST proves that Koeun Ning and Hina are 100% in the lineup but, who knows.
If the members are all 98-02, maybe they will debut another gg very soon after smngg with 03-05 age range, who knows. I just hope it doesn't happen. I want SM to put all of their attention in smngg for a long time before they debut another gg.

I'm 100% with Koeun, maybe about 85% with Ning, 80% with Hina, Lami 75%, Jimin 70%

Myself and a few others regularly check Kipris, the Korean trademarks database, to see if SM files for any names that are in the right categories for group names. We've had a few names that matched certain categories and so far, we still have SPRY/SPRAY/ANDY that we have no idea what it's for... but it most likely isn't a new group. We had a scare with FRNZ until we found out that's the name of the new SM mascots. Nothing has popped up in months though, sadly. When something does appear as a trademark application, that will give us an idea of the group name, logo and how long it is until debut (it's usually 6 months and under from when they apply for group names).
