Yeah I also think it's a bit far-fetched, I'd attribute it more to the NGT incident.

Someone mentioned that it's a baseless accusations since that episode was released on 30th July, while the ending announcement was recorded on the 31st July. A bit too fast for the higher-up a to react to any complaints to the point of cancellation.

The producer team probably already knew it would be cancelled before that episode was recorded.

i believe its purely just a business decision. the show hasn't really attracted much new viewership specially since the sakamichi boom.
i do hope they get another main show tho something like nogi doko / keyakake will do fine.
if no network is willing to host one then they should look into cable tv or web streaming sites
