Even if all my picks debut, I'm not sure if I will stan?
My picks are Hyungjun, Eunsang, and Jungmo. I also like Yohan, Wooseok, Minhee, and Seungyoun well enough.
I don't like Jinhyuk or Han Seungwoo all that much, and everyone else is kinda "meh" to me.
I wasn't a huge produce 101 season 1 or 2 watcher, but I know by the end of produce48 I was at least head over heels for the entire top 30. Wonyoung, Yiren, and Yunjin were my picks, and even though not all of them made it, I knew I would still like the group a lot.
Now, for produce x 101, even though Hyungjun is locked and Jungmo and Eunsang have a high chance to debut, ...I find myself lacking in excitement?
I know this is a general complaint about the show by many viewers that it's boring oe whatever but that isn't really the case for me?
I'm not really bothered by Mnet's stale concepts and overused storylines....
Rather, I just find the trainees... Including my picks... Not all that compelling? I mean, I like them - but not hardcore stan - like them.
Overall the visuals this season... Mingyu is pretty damn good looking (but not really my type? Love him tho). Hyungjun I really like his visuals, they are my style, but at the same time, I don't think he is godlike visuals like Jinyoung or Jihoon? Wooseok.... Wooseok while I think he's good looking and decently skilled... I can't lie. I just find him incredibly boring. Yohan isn't really my type of visual either. I love Jungmo and Eunsang's visuals though, but again, not strikingly godlike.
Overall, the already debuted idols "used goods or whatever" have more talent from experience, and already have a lot of existing content that makes them stand out more than the fresher trainees. I don't exactly think their participation is unfair, but it doesn't excite me to watch the show with so many of them taking up the top. I mean, if I didn't stan them in their original nugu group, I don't see why I wouls stan them now?
Knetz have a saying, if someone is not popular, it's probably for a reason. There are super pretty and talented idols that get overlooked all the time.
The already debuted idols are getting attention though, so I guess their gamble paid off.
I personally still just do not have a lot of interest in them.
In summary, what I feel is that rather than overused storylines, concepts, or edits, what I think Mnet faltered on this season is casting trainees.
They should have paid more attention to age, not let through so many already debuted idols, and find more godlike visuals with talents.
South Korea is teeming with eager to become idols. I don't understand why this season was casted like this? Even if Big Companies withold their best trainees out of fear for the longer contracts, I doubt there aren't a ton of amazing independent trainees also out there.

GuestI watched Season 1 two years after it happened so I won't count it.
I wasn't super excited for Season 2 but at least many trainees had caught my eyes one way or another. I keep an eye on some of the boys and I like seeing them release new stuff.
Season 3 was great to me and even though only one of my picks (Chaeyeon) made it to the group, I still follow many girls from there.
Season 4... I like my remaining pick, Yuvin (the 2 others, Suhwan and Baekjin were eliminated) but in the end I don't even know if I'll "stan" him whether he re-debuts in the final group or not. Chances are high that he won't anyway, and I'll keep an eye on the two others and their future endeavors more, I think, because it's more exciting to see if they'll debut or not and I'm really rooting for them. Anyway, I already know I won't be invested in the new group at all, because I have little to none opinion on most of the remaining boys... So I get what you mean.

I never really understood how it was fair to allow idols who are in groups and who have debuted to be allowed on the show. I know it worked for nuest and i'm happy for them but there should be a limit of how many can be in produce. overall this season has been a little bit..of a bore?

I agree with you. It's not exciting and I'm still pissed that Wei Zi Yue and Kim Hyeon Bin got eliminated.

I liked S2 contestants a lot too but Wanna One did nothing for me (even though my one-pick debuted). I like the top 30 for this season way more than S2 so I might stan, but it all depends on the end group chemistry. My one pick already got eliminated but my second pick is still running strong so far.

i watched season 2 but i didn't rly like any of the contestants enough to support them or wannaone. i'm super into this season and everyone is pretty likable and talented. even if my one pick doesn't make the final line up i'll most likely still stan because because i'm invested in the top 20 as a whole.

Same honestly, attached to my fav trainees but it’s not the same as the previous seasons. I’m not sure if it’s all because of the editing this season or something else

Because everything is so obvious
Hype dies down quick when you realize which ones mnet cares about by the 2nd episode lol

pd48 was the first season of the series that I watched and I definitely was more excited for it compared to pdx101. I feel like part of the reason is because the j-trainees were at such a disadvantage that it was more exciting watching them improve collectively. Even though I never hardcore stanned anyone in pd48 I liked the majority of the trainees so it was just fun watching it. However, after the whole fixed line up thing happened I went into pdx101 knowing that it doesn't really matter who stands out or who is talented because mnet likely already has the line up decided so it's definitely harder getting attached to anyone. I actually only started enjoying the show after the concept evaluation, all of the episodes before that were super boring and I just watched them for the sake of watching. Also doesn't help that I didn't really like the majority of the top ranking trainees (excluding this weeks ranking because that's the best line up we've had all season imo) and they get most of the screen time so...
I only have 1 pick each season. But my 1 pick never make it so I don't stan post produce groups. Sadly, it's the same this yr.

Idk, I believe this tend to happen to anyone with a Produce season at some point, it happened to me with PD48 (ended up dropping the show after ep 7? or so), and although my one pick made it (Wonyoung), I liked most girls sans a few exceptions, and the music was nice I never felt like I could stan the group.
With all of this, I'm sure there's def people who feel the same way you do about this season, it's just a normal thing.

It's true that I may not stan even if my picks got in.
But mine's much simpler - will probably stan if line-up:
Includes - Yohan, Seungwoo, Seungyoun, Dongpyo, Junho, Eunsang, Hangyul
And excludes - Hyungjun, Jungmo, Minhee, Tony, Sejin

i might also not stan the group even if my picks make it but that has more to do with the fact that mnet usually gives their groups crappy music. I like the top 20 a lot though, especially the already debuted idols.
I really disagree with this saying, there are a lot of reasons why people and groups get overlooked. Sometimes it's just bad luck, or they are in a crappy company, or they have crappy music but could do better if given better music. And in this season the already debuted idols are often the most talented ones so, they have my support, i could care less about visuals.
