2025 will mark 7 years after G-idle's debut and the time for contract renewal.
It was discovered recently that earlier this month CUBE has attempted to file trademarks for the name G-idle 6 years after their debut in a wide variety of categories.
If you're wondering why Cube never filed trademarks before it's because "Idle" has been public domain since 2015. Other companies have trademarked things under the name Idle before Cube.

Not many people seem to think Cube will be successful in claiming the Gidle trademark, though personally i'm not sure if this time their attempt to trademark will be different since they are specifically using (G)idle instead of just Idle.
Do you think CUBE will be able to get this trademark? Or do you think they will get rejected again?
I'm honestly surprised Cube is going this low to get Gidle to stay in the company. Many other fans have noticed how Cube has been trying to spoil the girls recently (such as Yuqi and I think Minnie as well being sent on promotions on chartered planes). They also seem to let Soyeon have complete control? I thought they were maybe on better terms and wouldn't need to steal the name trademark to get them to stay?

Clearly cube watched the soumu/hybe Gfriend copyright debacle of court loss after court loss against the group. If you want to hold the name over the group's head do this before you disband them.
