Former DIA Member Somyi signs with Modern Berry Korea; Denies Relationship with Former Agency CEO; Announces Legal Action

Former DIA member Somyi is facing accusations of a romantic relationship with the CEO of her former agency, Pocketdol Studio.

The K-pop star turned streamer parted ways with Pocketdol Studio and girl group DIA (Do It Amazing) in 2022 after a prolonged hiatus. After leaving the group, she pursued activities as an adult BJ (broadcast jockey) under Hotple Entertainment, which manages several BJs.

Most recently, she made headlines by joining the new agency Moden Berry Korea. In addition, the YouTube channel HOVERLAB or Garo Sero Research Institute claimed that Somyi was in a relationship with PocketDol Studio CEO, Kim Kwang Soo.

Notably, it is the same YouTube channel that presented evidence of Kim Soo Hyun’s 6-year relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron, which began when she was a minor.

On March 28, her new agency Moden Berry announced legal action against Garo Sero Research Institute (Gaseyeon). The statement reads, “Garo Sero Research Institute conducted a broadcast with the purpose of spreading false information that artist Ahn Somyi and Pocketdol Studio CEO Kim Kwang Soo were in a relationship.” They continued, “This constitutes clear defamation, and we have decided to take legal action to protect our artist.”

Moden Berry added, “We will not stand idly by as unfounded rumors and reckless speculation about our artist spread.” They also stated, “We plan to secure relevant data through a legal representative and respond strongly, with a zero-tolerance policy.”

Her agency has also decided to take legal action against malicious comments and false information.

Previously, she received a prison term of 1.5 years for falsely accusing the CEO of her former agency of sexual assault. Her allegations were proven false in court as she was seen hugging the CEO in the CCTV footage. Later, she appealed the decision and received 2 years of probation

Ahn Somyi, a former member of K-pop group DIA, has been pursuing a new career as a BJ and entertainer. After leaving DIA and parting ways with Pocketdol Studio, the 25-year-old streamer has been actively exploring various fields.

i just thought she did. last i heard she was sentenced. i didnt know it was appealed.

Same, I thought she went to prison. So she got 2 years probation instead and stayed quiet since.

As someone who kinda followed DIA and Somyi, her story is...something

She was a DIA fan, was part of the fandom, had the membership and even attended fansigns. Then in 2017 she was added in the group along with Jueun. Somyi then became the new maknae.
She and Yebin went on The Unit, Somyi ranked 12th and Yebin finished top 3 and debuted with UNI.T

End 2019 she complained during an IG live and fans were concerned. Yebin was told to end the stream. Later Somyi got kicked out and left the group. She graduated from SOPA early 2020.

She became an BJ, a streamer, but more on the +18 side and more adult rated than those you can usually find on afreeca/soap or even Twitch. This path wasn't without backlash from knetz and from some of her fans.

Somyi appeared in a TV show to tell her story : her parents were heavily in debt, she's the only child so she tried everything to help them.

I still find it BS that she lost her court case. Her being friendly to him outside the room doesn’t prove he didn’t SA her in the room or imply she consented to anything.

I feel like she’s going to get a lot of scrutiny for this lawsuit online though. Right now Garosero is getting praised for covering the Saeron case. I don’t know his history so I can’t say whether he was slimy or not in the past (I’m sure he isn’t 100% a good guy) but I’m sure very soon people are going to be speculating if KSH/gold medalist is “magically” funding her lawsuit or something.

Yeah I feel like the hug proved nothing and I'm always going to be on the side of some young girl with no power over a 50 year old man like Kim Kwangsoo without some extremely compelling evidence. If they were dating then he's a creep. If it's true then they may have started dating when Somyi was still a teenager. It's a revolting power imbalance. I'm pretty shocked by how many people have turned against her so vehemently.

Them being under Pocketdol explains why they flopped. I've always found it weird how they barely try and get their artists any attention. They certainly could be a shell company or money laundering. Bae 173 was having to "do everything themselves when it comes down to content. They film, edit, and even subtitle everything. The company helps them with absolutely nothing."



Like how under staffed r u? The one thing that their known for is mistreatment so the ceo being a pos creep isn't surprising at all.

I wonder if he's still wearing that turtle-neck.

Anyway, I wish for better professional options for Somyi going forward, especially if she's carrying the burden of her family 's finances
