OPM RECOMMENDATIONS - SPRING EDITION
Written by: meltrosz

The air is fresh and the flowers are blooming ― what better way to celebrate this day than with some fun and happy music?

Hello, Hallyu+! Welcome to another month of OPM Recommendations. Since it is now Spring for most of the users here, I decided to pick some songs that I think fit the season. The Philippines does not have four seasons, so we do not have any song that was specifically released for Spring. Nevertheless, I believe the songs I have picked capture the spirit. Of course, I tried to select different styles and different artists compared to the ones I had in my previous recommendations. Enjoy!

#1: ASIN - MASDAN MO ANG KAPALIGIRAN (LOOK AT THE SURROUNDINGS)
Theme: Environment

Spring is the season of blooming flowers and where we can admire nature's beauty, so what better way is there to start this playlist than a song about the environment? ASIN is a folk rock band that was famous for being the first group to incorporate Filipino indigenous instruments to pop music and also for their songs that reflected the undercurrents of their times such as "
Balita (News)", "Himig ng Pag-Ibig (Hymn of Love)", and "Itanong Mo Sa Mga Bata (Ask the Children)". "Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligiran (Look At The Surroundings)" is a song that was written in dedication to the Pasig River, which used to be an important transport route and source of water but later became polluted and considered biologically dead due to negligence and industrial development. In the song, the band pleads to the listeners to take care of the surroundings, so the future generations can still have trees to climb and rivers to swim in—and also so that when we die, we'll have "fresh air in heaven".

Translated by meltrosz

Wala ka bang napapansin sa iyong mga kapaligiran? [Don't you notice anything about your surroundings?]
Kay dumi na ng hangin, pati na ang mga ilog natin. [Dirty is the air, along with our rivers]

Hindi na masama ang pag-unlad [It's not bad, development]
At malayu-layo na rin ang ating narating [And we've come a long way]
Ngunit masdan mo ang tubig sa dagat [But look at the water in the seas]
Dati'y kulay asul ngayo'y naging itim [Used to be blue, now it's black]

Ang mga duming ating ikinalat sa hangin [The dirt we spread in the air]
Sa langit huwag na nating paabutin [Let's not let it reach to heaven]
Upang kung tayo'y pumanaw man, sariwang hangin [For when we pass away, fresh air]
Sa langit natin matitikman [In heaven we'll taste]

Mayron lang akong hinihiling [I only have one wish]
Sa aking pagpanaw sana ay tag-ulan [When I pass away, I hope it's raining]
Gitara ko ay aking dadalhin [I will bring my guitar]
Upang sa ulap na lang tayo magkantahan [So we can just sing in the clouds instead]

Ang mga batang ngayon lang isinilang [The children who were only born today]
May hangin pa kayang matitikman? [Will they still have an air to taste?]
May mga puno pa kaya silang aakyatin? [Will they still have trees to climb?]
May mga ilog pa kayang lalanguyan? [Will they still have rivers to swim in?]

Bakit di natin pagisipan [Why don't we think about]
Ang nangyayari sa ating kapaligiran [The things happening in our surroundings]
Hindi na masama ang pag-unlad [It's not bad, development]
Kung hindi nakakasira ng kalikasan [If it's not destroying nature]

Darating ang panahon mga ibong gala [Time will come when the free birds]
Ay wala nang madadapuan [Will no longer have anything to perch on]
Masdan mo ang mga punong dati ay kay tatag [Look at the trees that used to be so sturdy]
Ngayo'y namamatay dahil sa 'ting kalokohan [Now they're dying because of our stupidity]

Lahat ng bagay na narito sa lupa [All things here on earth]
Biyayang galing sa Diyos kahit nong ika'y wala pa [Are blessings from God even when you weren't born yet]
Ingatan natin at 'wag nang sirain pa [Let's take care of them and not destroy them further]
Pagkat pag Kanyang binawi, tayo'y mawawala na [For if He takes them back, we'll disappear]

#2: BROWNMAN REVIVAL - LINTIK (DAMN)
Theme: Falling In Love Unexpectedly

Brownman Revival
is a Filipino reggae band that is popular for their reggae covers of OPM classics such as "Maling Akala (Wrong Assumption)" by
Eraserheads, "Binibini (Woman)" by The Rainmakers, "Ikaw Lang Ang Aking Mahal (You Are The Only One I Love)" by VST & Company, and many more. Some of which, like "Maling Akala (Wrong Assumption)", arguably became more popular than their original versions. "Lintik (Damn)" is probably their most popular original song. It is about falling in love unexpectedly, which they liken to being struck by lightning. Spring is also known as the season of falling in love and sometimes, we cannot choose who we fall in love with or when. Along with its upbeat and catchy tune, it makes a great song to listen to during this season.

Translated by meltrosz

Lintik na pag-ibig [Damn this love]
Parang kidlat [Like a bolt of lightning]
Puso kong tahimik na naghihintay [My heart that was peacefully waiting]
Bigla mong ginulat [You suddenly surprised it]

'Di ko man lang napansin ang iyong pagdating [I didn't even notice your arrival]
Daig mo pa ang isang bagyong namuo sa malayo [You're even better than a storm that formed far away]
Ihip ng hangin biglang nag-iba [The winds suddenly changed]
Sinundan pa ng kulog at kidlat [Followed by thunder and lightning]
Sa biglang buhos ng iyo sa akin [The sudden downpour of you to me]
Ako'y napakanta [Made me sing]

Lintik na pag-ibig [Damn this love]
Parang kidlat [Like a bolt of lightning]
Puso kong tahimik na naghihintay [My heart that was peacefully waiting]
Bigla mong ginulat [You suddenly surprised it]

Puso kong tahimik na naghihintay [My heart that was peacefully waiting]
Bigla mong ginulat [You suddenly surprised it]

Mga halik mo't mga lambing, inuulan mo sa akin [Your kisses and sweet gestures, you're raining on me]
Binabagyo binabaha na ako ng iyong mga cariño [I am flooded and overwhelmed by your love]
Nananaginip ba ako nang gising [Am I daydreaming]
Ay, tinamaan ng magaling [Oh, got hit well]
Nadali mo ang puso ko ng iyong kidlat [You struck my heart with your lightning]

Lintik na pag-ibig [Damn this love]
Parang kidlat [Like a bolt of lightning]
Puso kong tahimik na naghihintay [My heart that was peacefully waiting]

Parang kidlat [Like lightning]

#3: ERASERHEADS - SEMBREAK
Theme: Missing Someone During Vacation

If you've been reading my previous OPM Recommendations, then this legendary rock band needs no introduction. The title "Sembreak" is a portmanteau or abbreviation of the term "semestral break", which what the break between semesters is called. However, the term is now used for any period of break from school regardless if it follows a semestral, trimestral, quarterly, or any other form. From this, you'd imagine that this song is about the different ways to have fun during vacation, but it is actually about missing someone every second of the day. It's about not being able to enjoy your vacation but instead, counting down the days when you'll meet someone again. During these times where we're in a "forced" vacation, who do you miss the most?

Translated by meltrosz

Dear Kim, kamustang bakasyon mo? [Dear Kim, how is your vacation?]
Ako, eto pa rin nababato [Me, I'm still wasted]
Bad trip talaga 'tong Meralco [I really hate this Meralco]
Bakit brownout pa rin dito!? [Why is the power still out here!?]

Walang silbi sa bahay [I'm useless at home]
Kundi bumabad sa telepono [Other than talking all day on the phone]
O, kaya'y kasama ang buong barkada [Or going out with friends]
Nakatambay sa may kanto [Hanging out around the corner]

Naalala kita, pag umuulan (Sembreak) [I miss you when it's raining (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita, pag giniginaw (Sembreak) [I miss you when I'm feeling cold (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita, pag kakain na (Sembreak) [I miss you when it's time to eat (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita, ilang bukas pa ba [I miss you, how many tomorrows left]
Bago tayo ay magkita? [Before we meet?]
Ako'y naiinip na, bawat oras, binibilang [I'm growing impatient, I'm counting every hour]
Sabik na masilayan ka [Looking forward to getting a glimpse of you]

Sira pa rin ang bisikleta [The bike's still not working]
May gas, wala namang kotse [We have gas but we don't even have a car]
Naghihintay ng ulan [Waiting for rain]
Basketball sa banyo [Basketball in the bathroom]
Sana ay may pasok na para at least [I wish there was school so at least]
Meron akong baon [I'll have lunch money]
Cutting classes, dating raket [Skipping school, my former hobby]
Rock and roll, buong taon! [Rock and roll whole year 'round]

Walang kayakap, kundi gitara [No one in my embrace, except a guitar]
Nangangati sa kaiisip sa'yo [Itching from thinking about you]
Hanggang sa mabutas 'tong maong ko [Until my jeans grow a hole]
Tsaka, bibili uli ng bago [Afterward, I'll buy a new one]
Hanggang dito na lang ang liham ko [This is the end of my letter]
Salamat sa atensyon mo [Thank you for your attention]
Tsaka na lang pala ang utang ko [By the way, I'll just pay back the money I owe you later]
Pag nakagkita na lang uli tayo, oh [When we meet again, oh]

Naalala kita (Sembreak), Naalala kita (Sembreak) [I miss you (Sembreak), I miss you (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita (Sembreak), Naalala kita (Sembreak) [I miss you (Sembreak), I miss you (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita (Sembreak), Naalala kita (Sembreak) [I miss you (Sembreak), I miss you (Sembreak)]
Naalala kita (Sembreak), Naalala kita [I miss you (Sembreak), I miss you]

#4: ERASERHEADS - TINDAHAN NI ALING NENA (MISS NENA'S STORE)
Theme: Funny Lyrics And Sound Effects

I usually try to avoid taking more than one song from the same artist, but this song is just too iconic to skip out on. "Tindahan Ni Aling Nena" is known for its comedic lyrics and sound effects such as clapping, a bottle shattering, a woman screaming, and a cat's meow with perfect timing, which makes the song very fun to listen to. It also loves to play around with tempo, going from fast to slow then back to fast again. The lyrics are written in a linear story-telling manner, making the listener engage and visualize the image of the song. Overall, whether it's the lyrics, the instrumentation, the melody, or any other part of the song, this is very exciting to listen to and fits the spirit of Spring very well.

Translated by meltrosz

Isang araw [One day]

Pumunta ako sa tindahan ni Aling Nena [I went to Miss Nena's store]
Para bumili ng suka [To buy vinegar]
Pagbayad ko, aking nakita [While I was paying, I saw]
Isang dalagang nakadungaw sa bintana [A young woman by the window]
Natulala ako, laglag ang puso ko [I was stunned, my heart fell]
Nalaglag din ang sukang hawak ko [The vinegar I was holding also fell]

Napasigaw si Aling Nena [Miss Nena screamed]
Ako naman ay parang nakuryenteng pusa [While I was like an electrocuted cat]
Ngunit natanggal ang hiya nang nakita ko na [But my embarrassment went away when I saw]
Nakatawa ang dalaga [The young woman laughing]

Panay ang "sorry, ho" [I kept saying sorry]
Sa pagmamadali, nakalimutan pa ang sukli ko [Because of hurrying, I forgot my change]
Pagdating sa bahay, nagalit si nanay [When I got home, mom got angry]
Pero oks lang, ako ay inlababo ng tunay [But it's okay, I'm truly in love]

Tindahan ni Aling Nena [Miss Nena's store]
Parang isang kwentong pampelikula [It's like a story out of a movie]
Mura na at sari-sari pa ang itinitinda [It's cheap and selling all sorts of stuffs]
Pero ang tanging nais ko ay 'di nabibili ng pera [But the only thing I want can't be bought with money]

Pumunta ako sa tindahan kinabukasan para makipagkilala [I went back to the store the next day to introduce myself]
Ngunit sabi ni Aling Nena [But Miss Nena said]
Habang maaga'y huwag na raw akong umasa [While it's still early, I should not get my hopes up]
Anak niya'y aalis na papuntang Canada [Her daughter's leaving for Canada]
Tatlong araw na lang ay ba-bye na [Only three days left and it's already bye-bye]

Hindi mapigil ang damdamin [I couldn't stop my feelings]
Ako'y nagmakaawang ipakilala (ho, ho, ho, ho) [I begged for her to introduce me]
Payag daw siya kung araw-araw [She said she'd agree if every day]
Ay mayro'n akong binibili sa tinda n'ya [I bought something from her store]

Ako'y pumayag at pinakilala niya [I agreed and she introduced me]
Ang kanyang kaisa-isang dalaga [To her one and only daughter]
Ngunit nang makilala, siya'y tumalikod na [But after greeting, she turned around]
At iniwan akong nakatanga [And left me looking like an idiot]

Tindahan ni Aling Nena [Miss Nena's store]
Parang isang kwentong pampelikula [It's like a story out of a movie]
Mura na at sari-sari pa ang itinitinda [It's cheap and selling all sorts of stuff]
Pero ang tanging nais ko ay 'di nabibili ng pera [But the only thing I want can't be bought with money]

Tindahan ni Aling Nena [Miss Nena's store]
Dito nauubos ang aking pera [It's here that I use up my money]
Araw-araw ay naghihintay [Every day I'm waiting]
O Aling Nena, please naman maawa ka, haa [Oh Miss Nena, please have mercy on me]

Alam n'yo'ng nangyari? [Do you know what happened?]
Wala, wala, ah, ah [Nothing, nothing, ah, ah]
(Oh, Diyos ko!) [Oh, my God!]
Wala, wala, ahh [Nothing, nothing, ahh]

#5: IMAGO - EWAN (DUNNO)
Theme: Sweet Love

Imago
is a co-ed rock band who gained popularity from songs like "
Akap (Embrace)" and "Sundo (Pick Up)" and covers like "Spoliarium" by Eraserheads and "Ewan (Dunno)" by APO Hiking Society. The reason why I picked this version over the original is that I prefer Imago's rock sound over the APO's disco sound for this song. Although this is a relatively old song, I think today's music fans will be more open to its sound over a disco version. The song is about liking someone but they're not yet ready, so all they can say is "I don't know". However, this song shares with us some words of wisdom that if someone says "I don't know", it's already close to a yes since it is not a rejection. You only have to work hard and melt their heart to be able to win their love.

Translated by meltrosz

Ewan... [Dunno...]

'Di ko alam kung bakit ka ganyan [I don't know why you're like this]
Mahirap kausapin at 'di pa namamansin [Hard to talk to and ignoring me as well]
'Di mo ba alam ako'y nasasaktan [Don't you know I'm getting hurt]
Ngunit 'di bale na basta't malaman mo na [But it doesn't matter as long as you know that]

Mahal kita, mahal kita [I love you, I love you]
Hindi 'to bola [This is not a bluff]
Ngumiti ka man lang sana [Just smile please]
Ako'y nasa langit na [And I'm already in heaven]
Mahal kita, mahal kita [I love you, I love you]
Hindi 'to bola [This is not a bluff]
Sumagot ka naman 'wag lang [Please answer just not]
Ewan [Dunno]

Sana naman itigil mo na 'yang [Please stop that]
Kakasabi ng ewan at anong bola na naman 'yan [Saying dunno and what kind of bluff is that this time]
Bakit ba ganyan, dalaga'y 'di alam [Why is it like this, a young woman doesn't know]
Na ang ewan ay katulad na rin ng oong inaasam [That dunno is just the same as the yes she's been waiting for]

Ewan [Dunno]

Ewan, ewan, ewan... [Dunno, dunno dunno...]

#6: PAROKYA NI EDGAR - MANG JOSE (MR. JOSE)
Theme: Funny Lyrics

Just like Eraserheads, you'll already be familiar with this group if you've seen my previous recommendations. Parokya Ni Edgar is a rock band popular for their funny songs and "Mang Jose (Mr. Jose)" is an example of that. It is a very upbeat song with a lot of drums and deep vocals, which gives it a creepy feeling. But when you read the lyrics, it's actually a comical story about a superhero that charges people after helping them. I find it fitting for Spring, not only due to its upbeat tempo but also because of the witty lyrics that will surely bring a smile and good vibes to its listeners whenever they hear it. It also makes reference to the mecha anime "Tōshō Daimos", which people born in the 90s may or may not remember watching.

Translated by meltrosz

Tuwing sasapit ang dilim [Every time night falls]
Naghahasik na ng lagim [Doom is spread around]
Ang mga kaaway [By the enemies]
Ng ating tagapagligtas [Of our savior]
Lahat sila'y nagsisilabas [Every one of them comes out]

Pagsapit ng dilim [When night falls]
Wala kang makikita [You can't see anything]
Kundi ang kanilang mga mata [Except their eyes]
Na nakakatakot lalo na kung color yellow [Which are scary especially if they're yellow]
Matatakot lahat kahit na mga multo [Even ghosts will get scared]

Tulong! Tulong! Saklolo [Help! Help! Save me]
Kailangan ko ng tulong mo [I need your help]

Mang Jose, Mang Jose [Mr. Jose, Mr. Jose]
Ang superhero na pwedeng arkilahin [The superhero you can rent]
Mang Jose parang si Daimos din [Mr. Jose, just like Daimos too]
Ngunit pagkatapos ay bigla kang sisingilin [But afterwards, he'll suddenly charge you]
Mang Jose! [Mr. Jose!]

#7: THE BLOOMFIELDS - ALE (MISS)
Theme: Love at First Sight

This song was originally released by Richard Reynoso —but because of the poor quality of sound in the recording and because of its heavy disco influence, I decided to use a more recent version instead, while still keeping the fun factor of the song. The lyrics of "Ale" take a comedic twist on "love at first sight", as the singer first sees a beautiful girl, decides to follow her, and gets into an accident. Upon waking up, he meets a nurse but finds out she's married and gets into another accident. Lastly, he meets another nurse and falls in love for the third time. The funny lyrics and the energetic accompaniment make it a very happy song to listen to during Spring. It also has a superficial side to it (running after beauty), but I think it just adds more to the humor of the song.

Isang araw nagmamaneho sa Cubao [One day, I was driving along Cubao]
Aking nakita, babaeng saksakan ng ganda [And I saw, a lady who was very pretty]

Sinundan ko ang kotseng sinasakyan nya [I followed her car]
Hindi ko nakitang may dumarating pala [I did not see there was an incoming car]
Hindi ko naiwasan, kami biglang nagkabanggaan [I could not avoid it and we suddenly crashed]

Nung magkamalay ay nasa ospital na ako [When I regained consciousness, I was already in the hospital]
Inasikaso ng doktor na pili ng nanay ko [I was taken care of by the doctor picked by my mother]

Biglang-bigla na lang, ang nurse nandyan na [Suddenly, the nurse came]
At para 'kong nakitang anghel sa ganda [And it was like I saw an angel with her beauty]
Kahit nagdedeliryo, itong nasabi ko sa kanya [Even when delirious, this is what I said to her]

Ale, nasa langit na ba ako? [Miss, am I in heaven already?]
Mama, kayo po ba si San Pedro? [Mister, are you St. Peter?]
Ok lang sa akin kung ako'y dedbol na [It's okay with me if I'm already dead]
Basta't ikaw ang lagi kong kasama [As long as I'm always with you]
Kaya ale, nasa langit na ba ako? [So miss, am I in heaven already?]

At paglabas ko, niyaya ko na syang pakasal [And when I got out, I asked her to marry me]
Tinanggihan nya, at nasabi may asawa na sya [She refused, and said she's already married]

Dinamdam kong masyado'ng sinabi nya [I was hurt by what she said]
Hindi ko nakita, hagdan ubos na [I did not see, there weren't any steps anymore]
Ako ay nahulog, sa semento ulo ko'y nauntog [I fell, and hit my head on the concrete]

Nung magkamalay ay nandun na naman ako [When I regained consciousness, I was there again]
Inasikaso ng doktor na pili ng utol ko [I was taken care of by the doctor picked by my brother]

Biglang-bigla na lang, ang bagong nurse nandyan na [Suddenly, the new nurse came]
Tinanong ko muna sya kung may asawa na sya [I asked her first if she's already married]
Ang sabi nya wala, ang puso ko'y biglang natuwa [She said no, and my heart rejoiced]
At nasabi kong [And I said]

Ale, nasa langit na ba ako? [Miss, am I in heaven already?]
Mama, kayo po ba si San Pedro? [Mister, are you St. Peter?]
Ok lang sa akin kung ako'y dedbol na [It's okay with me if I'm already dead]
Basta't ikaw ang lagi kong kasama [As long as I'm always with you]
Kaya ale, nasa langit na ba? [So miss, am I in heaven?]
Woah, ale nasa langit na [Woah miss, am I in]
Ale, nasa langit na nga ako [Miss, I really am in heaven]

#8: ROCKSTEDDY - SUPERHERO
Theme: Doing Everything For The Person You Love

"Superhero" is rock band Rocksteddy's most successful song. They also have other popular hits like "Deadma (Ignore)" and "Boy Kulot (Curl Boy)", but they did not achieve as much success as "Superhero", which was used as a theme song for a popular local television series. The song talks about how when you fall in love, you suddenly feel like a superhero who can do anything and everything. The song promises to do, overcome, and face everything for the person you love. It also has an iconic line that says "you are my superhero" because, with love, you also need to learn to trust and depend on your partner. It can also be interpreted that love gives you a "perfect image" of the person you like. What do you think this line conveys?

Translated by meltrosz

Simple lang naman [It's just simple]
Ang aking pangarap [My dream]
Ang tayo ay lumipad at [That we fly and]
Maglaro sa ulap [Play in the clouds]

Nais ko lang nama'y [What I wish for is just]
Makita kang nakangiti [To see you smile]
Ang makapiling ka sa [To be with you]
Bawat sandali [Every moment]

(Refrain)
Lahat ay gagawin [I will do everything]
Lahat ay susuungin [I will overcome everything]
Lahat haharapin [I will face everything]
Lahat ay kakayanin [I will persevere through everything]

(Chorus)
Lilipad ako para lang sa'yo [I will fly just for you]
Lilipad ako sa dulo ng mundo [I will fly to the end of the world]
Ang lahat ng ito'y para lang sa'yo [All of this is just for you]
Dahil ang totoo ikaw ang aking superhero [Because to be honest, you're my superhero]

Lahat magagawa [I can do anything]
Hindi ako matatakot [I will not be scared]
Hindi mangangamba basta't [I will not be afraid as long as]
Ikaw ang nasa puso ko [You are in my heart]

Kahit na mahirap, [Even if it's difficult]
Kahit na ako ay maliit [Even if I'm small]
Ikaw ay tutulungan [I will help you]
Kahit buhay ko ang kapalit [Even if I have to give my life]
(Repeat refrain)
(Repeat Chorus 2x)

#9:ROEL CORTEZ - SA MATA MAKIKITA (YOU'LL SEE IN MY EYES)
Theme: Expressing Love Without Words

Spring is not only about upbeat songs; you can also listen to ballads during the season, and I think this is a perfect ballad that still has the "sound of Spring" in it. Although Roel Cortez's name may not be famous among the Filipino youths today, many of them have definitely heard his songs such as "
Napakasakit Kuya Eddie (It's Very Painful Kuya Eddie)", "Sa Mata Makikita (You'll See In My Eyes)", "Iniibig Kita (I'm Loving You)", "Tutulungan Kita (I Will Help You)" and "Baleleng" being sung in karaoke. The soothing vocals and the instrumentation in the song give me an impression of a soft breeze caressing me in the morning, which is one of the characteristics of Spring for me. The song says that when it comes to love, words are unnecessary because it can be plainly seen from the way one looks at their significant other. It is a very sweet ballad with heart-fluttering lyrics, perfect to serenade your loved one with!

Kailangan pa bang ako ay tanungin? [Do you still have to ask me?]
Kailangan pa bang sa 'yo ay bigkasin? [Do I still have to state it to you?]
Na mahal kita at wala nang iba [That I love you and no one else]
Masdan mo't makikita [Look and you'll see]
Sa aking mga mata [In my eyes]

Kailangan pa bang ako ay lumapit? [Do I still have to come to you?]
At sabihin sa 'yo ang laman ng dibdib [And tell you my feelings?]
Na mahal kita at wala nang iba [That I love you and no one else]
Masdan mo't makikita [Look and you'll see]
Sa aking mga mata [In my eyes]

Hindi na kailangang ako ay tanungin [You don't need to ask me anymore]
Hindi na kailangang sa 'yo ay bigkasin [I don't need to state it to you anymore]
Sa tuwing magtatama ang ating paningin [Every time our eyes meet]
Sa mata makikita ang aking damdamin [You'll see in my eyes my feelings]

Hindi na kailangang ako ay tanungin [You don't need to ask me anymore]
Hindi na kailangang sa 'yo ay bigkasin [I don't need to state it to you anymore]
Sa tuwing magtatama ang ating paningin [Every time our eyes meet]
Sa mata makikita ang aking damdamin [You'll see in my eyes my feelings]

Kailangan pa bang ako ay tanungin? [Do you still have to ask me?]
Kailangan pa bang sa 'yo ay bigkasin? [Do I still have to state it to you?]
Na mahal kita at wala nang iba [That I love you and no one else]
Masdan mo't makikita [Look and you'll see]
Sa aking mga mata [In my eyes]

Masdan mo't makikita [Look and you'll see]
Sa aking mga mata [In my eyes]
Masdan mo't makikita [Look and you'll see]
Sa aking mga mata [In my eyes]

#10: SUGARFREE - KUNG AYAW MO NA SA AKIN (IF YOU DON'T WANT ME ANYMORE)
Theme: Turning Over A New Leaf

Sugarfree
is one of the most iconic bands in the Philippines, not only because of their catchy music but also because of the message in their lyrics. Some of which like "
Wag Ka Nang Umiyak (Stop Crying)" and "Tulog Na (Go To Sleep)" have become inspirational songs for people who went through hard times. Other songs of theirs include "Hari ng Sablay (King of Failures)", "Makita Kang Muli (To See You Again)", and "Prom". "Kung Ayaw Mo Na Sa Akin (If You Don't Want Me Anymore)" is a breakup song, so most people will probably think it's not fit for Spring. However, unlike many other breakup songs, this is not a ballad and it's not about being sad. Instead, it is about bitterness, being in denial, and pretending to be strong. Towards the end, the lyrics stop denying their feelings and instead try to hint that they'll be willing to reconcile, which contradicts the first few lines about not being desperate. The obvious pettiness and patheticness are a bit hilarious, especially since it exactly reflects what many of us have experienced. I think it is a fun song to listen to while reminiscing about our own pathetic moments with love.

Kung ayaw mo na sa akin [If you don't want me anymore]
Di na kita pipilitin [I won't force you anymore]
Kung buo na ang loob mo [If you've made your decision]
Bahala ka na sa buhay mo [Do whatever you want with your life]

At di ako desperado [And I'm not desperate]
Sa walang kapantay na pag-ibig mo [For your love without any equal]
Sa mga halik mong walang kasing tamis [For your kisses that are sweeter than anything]
Tubig ako at ikaw ay langis [I am water and you are oil]

Kung hindi ka na babalik [If you're no longer coming back]
Araw-araw na akong gigimik [Every day I'll go out to have fun]
Kung malayo ka na [If you're far away now]
Ay malaya na ako [Then I am free now]
Ngunit ang kahapon ko [But my yesterday]
Ay bihag pa rin ng alaala mo [Is still being held hostage by your memories]

Kung ayaw mo na sa akin [If you don't want me anymore]
Di na kita hahabulin [I will not chase after you anymore]
Medyo bata pa naman ako [I am still quite young]
May mabibighani pa sa akin siguro [There's still someone who'll be captivated with me probably]

Kung ayaw mo na ako [If you don't want me anymore]
Leche, lalong ayoko sa 'yo [Damn, I don't want you much more]
Alam mo naman kung saan ang bahay ko [You know where my house is]
Baka sakaling magbago ang isip mo please [Just in case you change your mind please]

Lalalalalala
Lalalalalala
Ooh la
Ooh la
Lalalalalala
Lalalalalala

Kung hindi ka na babalik [If you're no longer coming back]
Araw-araw na akong gigimik [Every day I'll go out to have fun]
Kung malayo ka na [If you're far away now]
Ay malaya na ako [Then I am free now]
Ngunit ang kahapon ko [But my yesterday]
Ay bihag pa rin ng alaala mo [Is still being held hostage by your memories]
