Someone needs to teach these newer kpop stans that just because a group is not from the big 3 doesn’t meant they are nugu.

Today on twitter I saw the following groups all called Nugu:

Viviz, Dreamcatcher, Weiki Meiki, WJSN, Cheery Bullet, Weekly, StayC, Purple Kiss, and Young Possee

Someone please hold me back from fighting someone

I mean, we have people HERE who comment at me that Dreamcatcher is nugu.

See… I thought Viviz and StayC were the only non-sneaks Do you know how DEEP into K-pop you have to be to know who Weki Meki is? (They were mentioned in a GMM episode, though )
As for Wuju and Dreamcatcher, I thought their fans like that? Like the whole nugu gg thing? I think Dreamcatcher has mostly climbed out but it feels like their brand?
I didn’t want to say anything so I dodged the convo.

When I think Nugu I think of people like Cocosori, Q6ix, or even that beauty box group who just disbanded. I define them as group’s where MV views are under 1 million and the company can’t afford to send them on music shows often (if at all) or promote the songs. Comebacks might be crowdfunded as well.

I feel like all the artists I mentioned are just B-C list kpop groups? I consider nugu like D-F list groups where you might not even recognize the company name.

For me, Weki Meki is not nugu too. They were in the mid tier, and was doing okay with their previous releases till Fantigo dropped the ball all of a sudden.

That is fair! Weki Meki was mid-tier but but I would argue that, toward the end, they had definitely fallen into obscurity.
I think if the group's name is only being invoked to legal and logistic issues, it's a bit of a sign. (And this wasn't just due to Fantagio being an absolute ass company with the hiatus - though they fumbled Doyeon - but the group lost a tremendous amount of steam almost immediately after a few releases then picked up a bit with a short period of poppy songs. Even then, to say that they were well known would be quite a stretch.)

While I would call them mid-tier i wouldn't call them B-C, as that implies that they were right behind their peers - they weren't.

While I understand your take on the companies, I feel like that clashes quite a bit with Purple Kiss' state.

Dreamcatcher, Seri spent years calling them nugu queens (Minx was textbook nugu) so I don't think that image will ever change on this site.

I actually split groups into flops and nugus. So about half of them fall into flop but I know I would get my ass beat over it.

Like, at first it was kinda yay good job dude but everything that is coming out about him is so..."perfect" for everyone to like him

not murican so it doesn't bother me, but it's just interesting to see the heaps of info that's coming out about him, it seems conveniently orchestrated.
