Saying Goodbye to an old friend

Saying goodbye can be tough.

Saying goodbye can feel impossible.

Starting new...isn't always as easy as it seems.

When you have been with someone for so long. How do you let go?

When you have traveled the world together.

Seen opposite sides of the Pacific together.

Seen the many cuts and wounds that were cut into the earth of the coastlines of the Mediterranean. Scars that only time could make. But, beautiful scars.

Today i lost a piece of my sole.

Yes, Sole. A part of the sole of my shoe fell off.

And with it, a bit of my Soul.

I fear that soon, the shoes that i have had with me for just under a decade. That i have traveled with. That i have spent every day with. May soon be gone.

Yes, i have replacements for them. I bought them over 2 years ago, and i couldn't bear to part with them the. How can i part with them now?

So, old friend. You have served me well.

How long can you go on?

How far can you carry me?

As you fall apart, and your grip loosens around me...how long can i carry you?

For now, i will fight, as all men do, against time.

But, Father Time remains undefeated.

None shall live forever.

All things must pass.

Soon will be time to say goodbye.

But, for now, let's share our last moments together. Hopefully, discovering something new, as we have done so many times before.

i never get rid of shoes. unless they are athletic shoes, they last a very long time. most of the time i literally run them into the ground until they are DEAD. When i find a pair of shoes i lke, i don't let them go easy. New shoes don't often feel as comfortable.

This semi tongue in cheek poem is how i feel every "x" amount of years.

i remember being like, 9, and i had these boots that i ADORED and i wore them all the time and then one day a teacher said something like "your shoes are talking" and it was because the front part of the boot's sole (like where the toes goes) had started to detach and i hadn't even realized
