They're not trying to be public friendly and they don't need to be. Most boy groups don't chart meaningfully and the general public dgaf about boy groups in general aside from a very very select few like BB and BTS. Theyre making their own kind of music that sets them apart from other groups and clearly there is a demand for that since their previous album that was released one year in has sold 150k albums. Going public friendly is just competing with everyone else whos doing the same thing. When everything is so saturated that isnt a great idea. And BGs are almost completely fandom driven anyways so whats the point. Much respect to them for putting out what they want to put out, its some of the most actually interesting stuff coming out of an idol group.

^Being public friendly doesn't mean releasing bad music or just doing what everyone else is doing , an artist can be public friendly and unique at the same time. Actually the it artist is the one that stands out the most and most artists who achieved longevity have this factor.
Also, experimenting doesn't mean releasing bad music as well. Bad music is bad music
People just need to accept it and this song is bad

*shrug* I ain't one of these "it's not bad, it's experimental!" defense stans, so I can't speak to that. I genuinely like acid-D&B-jungle-techno and have for years, along with millions of other people. If that means I have tragic taste, so be it.

I don't think you really understood what AegyoInTheStreets is trying to say and your reasoning is even more absurd, as there is no such thing as "bad music". It's music, there is no good and bad, it's subjective.
The way I see it, people have different expectations and wishes that they want to see from Stray Kids and Stray Kids clearly has different plans. I didn't like this song, in fact I hardly like any of their title tracks a lot, but that's because it's not for me. I like their B-sides, those songs are Genres that I prefer, but it's not a coincidence that Stray Kids's title tracks are the way they are.
It's clearly the direction and message that they want to keep pushing, and it's far from being public friendly. If this is what they keep doing, I'll probably never get into their title tracks, but I can respect their decision. It has its own appeal.

Happy to see you here SJK ❤I love it, it's right up my acid techno alley.
And uh, I've never been under any illusions that SKZ would be a public friendly group. I'm trying to figure out how anyone, Stay or not, would arrive at that conclusion. Were their five albums of rock-tinged EDM and R&B somehow misleading?

I just wanted to say that people need to accept it when they don't like a song (find it bad according to their own taste). I noticed that many proceed to say that it's experimental and not public friendly which in many times implies that the non experimental, non public friendly song is something bad or generic
In other words, a bad song is called experimental, or not doing what the public wants
Anyway, a great public friendly song can be experimental
Finally, when I said bad music , it was according to my opinion ofc, I found the song bad[/QUOTE]

I really love this song! (First one that really hooked me from them) That industrial beat and their voices are straight fire. It's more interesting than anything they've done before, and feels like progress - not to say that they haven't always been good, but "Side Effects" is 100% a bop for me.

My type of music Loved it SKz always amazes me. I was scared at the first teaser, but the transitions are pretty tight. My favorite part was the electro trance.

I never said public friendly is bad music. What? Top artists are rarely ones who are unique or doing something new. This is pop music my dude. Its all by the numbers and made to appeal to the lowest common denominator, its meant to be pleasant background music for driving in your car and to be heard in stores, malls and coffee shops. It aint that deep. Lets not pretend that snsd or twice have ever done anything unique or groundbreaking, and that isnt a jab at them at all. Its just not a requirement to be a popular pop act.
What SK is putting out is simply not in line with what constitutes a radio friendly pleasant background music kinda stuff. That doesn't make it inherently better than the rest of the stuff, its just the way it is. Its not an excuse for being bad. Most actually unique and interesting music out there that isnt pop music at all is not public friendly whatsoever. Hell, songs that are over 4 minutes arent radio friendly these days.
SK is clearly trying to appeal to an audience that is looking for something different and its working so far.

I really wanna like it. I really wanna like stray kids but their sound is just a lot of rapping that goes nowhere. I love mihro cause of the edm breakdown but their other tracks are a miss. I need to listen to this album still.

I think this song had so much potential, like I personally think the drop is great. I think the fact that they couldn't quite make melodies or rap verses that worked and flowed well with the beat is the songs biggest detriment. I overall don't think this repackage was necessary.

Only Stray Kids can pull off this kind of genre and concept! Talented Kings indeed.
