With the Olympic about to get started, why not a thread where we can discuss about the various events that will be held? As a Sports Science student, I am always excited about Sports events and this is one of the biggest it can get in the calendar year.
Of course there are also some sports that already started ahead of the official opening ceremony. For example, both Men and Woman soccer.
What sports are you all excited for?
And who will win the 1st place this time round between USA and China?

I will watch weightlifting because the former female champion is from my country and gymnastics. Maybe the final for skateboarding too.

I will fangirl here because I don't know in which section I can make a specific tread for this: several hours have passed and I'm till gagged!!!
I have been into kpop so much these years that I forgot how weak I am for rock!!!
This is my first time listening to this band and I love it!!!
The combination with the opera singing and the visuals!!!

>:(Ahhh, thank you - I was looking and hoping someone would make this thread!!! I'll mainly be following the Men and Women Soccer Football I've been in a withdrawal ever since the euro and copa america were over, so glad to have this to fill the void. Rooting for Germany for the Women squad (Japan, too, but yesterday's match was a bit eh). Don't have any horse in the race for the Men squad as Germany didn't qualify. Guess I'll be rooting for Messi or whichever team plays a beautiful game

Good closure, and thank you for the thread!
Our athletes got 5 medals (1 gold, 2 silvers, 2 bronzes) without any support. I hope the government realizes that we have a lot of potential in other sports that aren't football.

At least my country manage to win one medal this Olympic. Badminton Men's single was one of our hope since we have someone who won the Worlds Championship two years ago, but alas he met the world #2 in the quarter finals and lose.
No problem! And congrats!

Anyway 4 years from now, who know I might be part of my country's Olympic delegation (Not as a player, but as a coach/trainer,,etc) with me studying Sports Science right now and graduating at the end of this year.
