I wouldn't say Siyeon was robbed, I would say she didn't put enough effort in her battle + the song has the wrong pitch for her, it was more to Yoohyeon.

I read Siyeon lost with a vote of 51-48 which is really close and I'd argue that can easily come down to personal preference. Maybe those people prefer cupcakes instead of coffee and doughnuts?

In regards to her effort, it wasn't like she was singing solo, she was singing with someone. And everything I heard from her made me feel like Siyeon was trying to stay true to the song as best she could.

Covering Whitney Houston is hard in general. I felt the way the song was split up between the two didn't do Siyeon any favors. It made me wonder if the other woman even had a lower register to use. I felt like most(if not all) the lower parts were given to Siyeon and the other woman got the higher parts and then instead of letting Siyeon solo a higher part (which could've blown the audience away), it was split between the two of them or they had to sing together.
At 2:54 in the performance I saw Siyeon had to split the verse the other woman had been given all to herself and it was frustrating because I could see if she had been given it totally, she would've nailed it. Instead it seemed like she had to hold back for the other woman to keep up and I think ended up making the other woman look better.

Siyeon's enunciation is straight-up better than the other performer too. She should've been given extra points just for that.

One of the things that always bothers me about the show is that they have the contestants sing together and not solo (at least initially). I feel like solo performances would draw a better line in deciding who should go forward and then have a duet. Given the vote was so close, I can understand people feeling like Siyeon was robbed.

While I wish Siyeon would've won, I'm glad she had a good time performing. I hope she'll be able to perform again sometime.

Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, they thought you meant Siyeon didn't try hard enough and therefore lost.

Here's the full clip which includes the zombie dance and it seems like the rock song she would've used for the 3rd round. Someone commented that the judges thought Siyeon was a foreigner her English was so good.

I'm also laughing because WINNER's Seungyoon was there and totally surprised. Guess he forgot he posted Dreamcatcher's Really Really cover on his Instagram story as a cover to watch so long ago.

a lot of people always think high notes = better singer and overlook other aspects. siyeon might have a different colour tone and not the usual power vocal (e.g. spica's boa, bohyung, mmm, jimin, yuju), but the emotion she carries while she sings, her vibrato, style, huskiness, pronunciation, etc all combine to produce a very pleasant sound for the ears (for some of us at least).

All the comments on her Speechless cover basically say hers is the best because of the emotion she conveys. She goes the extra step to understand the song and present the emotions in it while she sings (although in this case I have no doubt part of the reason is seeing the movie 3 times). That capability along with her incredible vocal skills make it even more special. Her ability to understand and present the emotions of a song was shown prominently in Mess9 (one of the reasons she is a real singer).

Given the fact the mods who are running this forum are from OH, we'll see what happens. For all we know it could be months before the new OH is ready and then we'll have to see how it functions.

A better question is will the mods running this forum want to go back to OH or stay here? I think that will decide the future of this forum regardless if we stay here or not.
