2022 was a bad year, Ven Para basically destroyed everything they built.

They never performed the song after that, except for once in London. It's like they wanted to forget it and I would understand. The song was not well produced, it didn't suited the members and it was too "generic", a basic "girl crush" song.

IST forgot or ignored why Weeekly got people's and fans attention at first. They were a breath fresh of air when they debuted with bright songs when every one else was releasing trap or girl crush concepts.
They had those props, it played a part of why they were also standing out.

Add to this Jiyoon leaving, or getting kicked out. She was a important member, she was involved in some songs, in the album design and she was suited for variety shows.
Jiyoon then spilled some tea before likely getting scold she had to apologize later.

In another timeline Weeekly is with STAYC in those end year festivals.
Seeun, who trained with Weeekly members, ended by joining STAYC and now she's doing better.

What have you done IST
Yeah - Ven Para was their biggest selling song/album so far, but I think it turned a lot of fans off. The switch was to sudden from their previous concept, and for them to pull it off they needed a complete banger of a song...which Ven Para was not. I liked it...but I don't think it was good enough to push the concept change.

Now it feels like that IST haven't got a clue what to do. They really should have went full reset and brought them back quickly, but its now been 9 months and still no comeback in site. 9 months for any new girl group is horrible for any momentum they did have. People move on and its going to be hard to get the publics attention again. However, they are all talented, and with the right song they can be right back up there as one of the best groups of this gen.

I must admit, much as I loved them, I don't really follow at all anymore. They were fresh, fun, had established a style and sound. Cutesy, but while being such impressive performers that it was never cringe... But the company threw it away chasing a trend. A trend they had no experience producing, and that the girls didn't fit.

And now they're in that stupid kpop company situation, where they can't admit a mistake, so wont go back on the concept switch. They fed the fans a whole narrative of growing up the group and evolving as the girls matured... as if they were turning 30 or something lol.

In a way I get it, sticking to something, particularly if it's somewhat niche, isn't an easy road, looking at you dreamcatcher. But in an industry where what's popular is dictated by the bigger names, sometimes it's best for a smaller team to keep pleasing the fanbase they have. Rather than chasing some viral wonder, or a tiktok trend.

I hope, the reason for the hiatus is they'll explode back onto the scene with a fun Weeekly bop, but I'm not confident that's the case.

Doesn't help jiyoon was my bias either lmao

The next comeback will be crucial after all this.

Fans will wonder if they'll go back to their original concept or switch to another one, different from Ven Para.

nicely said, ist ruined everything they've built with their own concept change :NayeonDisgust:
and jiyoon's departure decreased my interest in them by 90% lol
