An interview clip of NJ is currently sparking debating online (in the oversea fandom at least, I’m not sure about the Korean fandom).

In the clip, the host is asking NJ if they order takeout to the dorms a lot. The members say no due to the fact that they are minors and delivery apps will not allow minors to complete transactions. They clarified that if they want takeout they need to ask their parents to order for them, or the members of the group who are now adults order and the younger members pay them back.

Tokki’s have become really angry about this online. They are angry asking why is Hybe/Ador not paying for their takeout, and asking why hasn’t Hybe provided them with an in-dorm chef or dorm auntie. (Dorm aunties are older ladies who sort of act like mothers in kpop dorms. They stop by on a set schedule and cook the kpop group member’s meals, clean the dorms, and I believe do their laundry?). Tokki’s are also calling this abuse from Hybe/Ador.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall Hybe really having dorm aunties for their groups ? I don’t recall BTS ever having one (Jin usually did all the cooking). I also don’t recall Gfriend or Fromis_9 having one either, but we have a lot of experts on those two groups here so please educate me if I’m wrong. TXT I can’t remember if they have a dorm auntie? The only groups I’ve ever heard having ones are NCT.

Looking into this more, dorm aunties seem to be an SM thing.

You bring up a good point. For all we know the interview could have been filmed awhile ago? But I haven’t heard any news about them moving out of the dorms, and I have seen confirmation from last year that Ador is providing their dorms.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still making Ador pay for the dorm, but Ador could have just transferred rent payment over to NJ for the time being? But I feel like Ador is still paying for the dorm because when the court trial starts, if Ador is going to argue that NJ is still under contract with them then Ador still needs to pay for their stuff or else it’s neglect. If Ador looses, NJ will just have to reimburse them I guess.

Dorms are a tricky situation, just because a contract ends doesn’t mean a lease is ending. I know The Boyz moved to a new company but they haven’t moved dorms at all.

Watching the full thing, I feel like people are definitely taking things out of context to start drama. Literally right before the clip they straight-up say they have someone in the dorm who does their dishes for them (a maid? Or maybe they do have a dorm auntie?)

It also doesn’t seem like Ador/Hybe stops them from ordering takeout, maybe just due to age restrictions she just physically can’t? It seems they’re restricted to ordering takeout in person or eating out due to the age limit thing.

This is just my honest opinion. Let's say ADOR/HYBE really don't care about their well-being at the dorm or whatsoever, I can only think of their parents help to support them so they can continue living together, still fight to pursue for their career together.

Dorm aunties? Probably someone living there aware of the girls situations, eventually helping them out with their life management. Like, out of care, y'know.

I haven't been keeping up to the update much but that's the best scenario I could ever think of. And Tokkis have right to voice that out.

EDIT: This is just me thinking about the worst case scenario could happened but I don't think it's that bad.

Because njs were still under ador/hybe definitely at that time. At least one is even now still a minor. I would hope more adult supervision was provided than a 20 year old member.

The complaints are from now, one of the big tokki accounts posted the clip of it (I thought I had them all blocked but twitter has that new update where even if you block someone their posts will still show up in your feed so thanks twitter ). I'll see if I can find the account again, but I know the tweet was posted yesterday.

From fromis in the house show, it seem like fromis live alone. But there is a famous story of them during their time at Off The Record. One of the member hid in a carrier bag while another member smuggle them out.
