i first heard 'Angeline' by David Tao when i was at my friend's place years ago and her mom was playing this song in the background. i loved it with the first listen, and the English parts were memorable. later heard that the song is about a forbidden love story btwn Angeline (a mermaid) and a human. So while the song sounds upbeat, the lyrics are deep and symbolic.
I have no clue:Slime: I doubt the first time I heard a chinese song was only in 2017, I'm sure I've seen some movie with one in it earlier than that, but I don't have any titles or even memories of it. The only song I can think of from pre-2017 is Reflection from Mulan, coz I 100% seen one of those "Princesses sing in their native languages" complications lol

I have been watching Chinese television since I was smol. Most of it unsubbed so I really don't know what was the first song I heard. A little later when they started to show mvs that I was able to learn who some of the singers were. Probably something from S.H.E maybe would be the first one I would have known by name back in the late 00's.
I have no clue but it might be Tian Mi Mi or The Moon Represents My Heart by Teresa Teng.
Obviously I am not from that generation but those songs are classic and timeless

I think it was 我要的世界" (The World I Want) by Kingone Wang...because of the drama Why, why love.

I think it would have to have been a song from a movie, but it was so many years ago, I can't remember what song or movie it was—just something that my mom was watching.

As far as I can remember
It was either Cecilia Cheung - Starwish
or Endless Love by Jackie Chan and Kim Hee Seon, even if it's a mixed song sung in Chinese and in Korean
I probably even older songs but those are the furthest I can remember
