PART 6 OPTIONS
After about an hour of playing various games from house to dress up to superheroes with your younger siblings, your mom pokes her head in the room and ushers them out, telling them to leave the two of you alone and come help her prepare dinner.
Once they’re gone, you collapse onto the floor, exhausted. You’d just wanted to hangout with Eden, yet somehow you ended up getting an unwanted workout.
Eden kneels down next to you on the floor, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her hair and straightening out her clothes, a smile on her lips. “Your little siblings are cute...and very energetic.”
Energetic? Too true. Cute? Well, you could grudgingly admit that. Though, they were cuter when they were asleep and silent. Eden giggles when you tell her as much, and you feel a smile of your own forming.
Well, you suppose your siblings’ interruption wasn’t so bad. After all, this was the most relaxed and happy you had ever seen Eden. You wouldn’t have pictured her as someone good with kids, but then, the more you learned about her, the more you were realizing just how much you had been judging her based on her appearance and wealth. Maybe you were no better than the other kids at school who had deemed her an ice queen.
Rolling onto your stomach, you prop yourself on your elbows and say
1. I'm sorry
2. We should do this again sometime
3. It’s nice to see this side of you

After about thirty minutes of working in silence, both you and Alex finish with your drawings. Setting his tools down, he lifts his drawing up and shoves it in your face without a word, looking anywhere but at you.
“Wow, that’s amazing!” And it was. Clearly he had been selling himself short with his claim of only drawing “sometimes.” It was obvious from the sketch that he was experienced, having captured your image perfectly. Honestly, great at both the piano and drawing…life just wasn’t fair.
Pulling the paper back, he shrugs and says, “It’s fine,” but his attempt at nonchalance is thwarted by the flush of his cheeks.
Well, if that was his definition of fine, then you wondered what he’d think of your drawing. Suddenly nervous, you braced yourself before handing your sketch to him. “What do you think?”
He eyes the drawing up and down, a decidedly unimpressed look on his face as he says, “It looks horrible.”
Ouch. Well, even if it was true, he didn’t need to put it so bluntly…Huffing, you snatch the paper from his hands and shove it face down on your desk.
Placing your hands on your hips, you say
1. So, are you more comfortable with me now?
2. I think I liked you more when you were all shy and stuttering
3. Was that whole shy, timid thing just an act?
