We went from not caring about hanteo past the first week to caring about instagram likes? What has become of us?
We've always tracked Instagram likes when we reach a milestone (1 million likes). But in the past, it was so seldom, people barely notice. If a group cannot reach 100,00 album sales, will they "care" about album sales? Of course, not. They'd rather track something they can attain at least a few times.
Now, they're reaching this milestone left and right. If you look at this thread, https://hallyuplus.net/threads/twices-posts-that-reached-1-million-likes-on-twicetagram.1013/ you can see that in the past, it usually takes months before they get another post that gets 1 million likes. But in the past three months since April, they have had 11 posts that reached this milestone. And within this month only, they've already had 4 posts reach this milestone. This obviously shows how much they have grown in the platform. Let's not deny that Instagram is still one of the major platforms that people use around the world. True, most posts that get 1 million likes are from Tzuyu and Momo, but now, we're also getting appreciation for OT9 group pics, NaMo and MoJi posts.
Is it important? In my opinion, yes. Instagram is another means to an end for us to see how Twice is growing. Do we go around rubbing it in everyone's faces how many posts and likes they have? No. If by "care" we mean the first one, then yes, I do care. If it's a dick measuring contest, then no I don't care about y'all petty fanwars.
