Okay so I've been thinking and it relates to my theory about the girl group having a small lineup. I feel like this past year SM have really wanted to break into the Western market and I feel like they won't stop anytime soon so, with that in mind, I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll target that demographic with the new girl group. Blackpink is arguably the most successful Kpop girl group worldwide right now, so it would make sense that SM would want the new girl group to appeal to the same market, which is obviously the Western market. 1 billion views, successful world tours and invitations to huge events like Coachella sounds like a dream to SM I imagine and with Blackpink having so many long periods between comebacks, SM could easily fill the void with the new group. Also, if that demo that was played in the SM documentary last year is for the new girl group, then I feel like potentially, my theory is somewhat accurate. Also the reason this relates to me thinking the group will be smaller, well, Blackpink are a small group and also I feel like Western audiences find it easier to stan groups with only a few members because there are fewer names/faces to remember

I could honestly see SM doing exactly this but if I was an SM producer I would forget the western market and still focus on asian market. As popular as Blackpink may be in the west, the one pulling in huge sale numbers and bringing in the profits is still Twice and rising Izone, both chose to focus on the Japanese market. Which is way smarter. It's easier to penetrate and the returns are greater. Honestly, besides kpop stans most people don't care about kpop in the west. SM, focus on Japanese, Chinese and SEA market. That's where all the money is at.

I completely agree with you. I think the focus on the western market is going to be a downfall if sm pushes this group there. Sticking to the Asian market is a lot smarter and a lot more profitable in the long run. Sure selling out concerts in the west is important but for years groups have been doing that without any western push, and aside from that there's so many Japanese dome tours groups can do that honestly bring in more revenue.

I have a strong feeling that along with Jimin, Ningning and Hina are locked in for the group. Lami and Koeun of course too if the rumours and ig account were false. Helen I also feel is a lock. Her dancing is too good for SM to pass up I feel. That's six already, then potentially the documentary trainee if she's still around.

Before I thought Koeun and Lami were for sure locked in the group but now I think Jimin and probably BBC girl are more likely to be in smngg. Unless BBC girl turns out to be like 12 or something. I'm honestly surprised more info hasn't been discovered about BBC girl.

I knew Jimin would debut so I’m happy! I have a feeling BBC girl is also a shoo-in because there had to have been a reason as to why SM would show her face but blur out the boys in the same documentary.

Who is she? The account I mean

ims is allegedly an SM insider and news reporter who has this private account so she doesn't get in trouble for talking about work. She occasionally lets her followers (she does accept anyone) ask her questions which she usually gives vague answers to. I trust her a little more than other sources tbh?

BBC girl's pic looks a bit edited. Anyways if she is in the group maybe she will be vocal?

All big groups and some soloist coming back in March, looks like April-May gonna be empty (maybe BP and Twice in April). So if the song does smngg can win music shows easily.

I've been getting into a lot of Jpop ever since 2019 and today I was thinking about smngg's concept and then I remembered this mv. I honestly think the concept/vibes would be really great for a debut single. It's innocent, elegant, refined and powerful. All the things I really want for this debut. And it's not really a concept/vibe I see a lot, or at all anymore since everyone is doing girl crush. It seems to have like a similar storyline to SNSD's Into The New World but ITNW is more innocent and this seems more elegant I think. This type of vibe/concept then add in those kpop elements and it would be really amazing. I think it can also be really well received with the korean audience.

btw this is Hiragana Keyakizaka46's (presently known as Hinatazaka46) "I don't expect anything of myself" if you guys are curious about them.

Omg yes, I feel like they might go the more elegant/innocent route tbh. Something like this maybe, or Closer by Oh My Girl. La Vie en Rose also comes to mind
