I hope this is true, I'm excited to see Lami and Koeun debut so if this was all false I'll be so happy
Not necessarily no, if SM was doing it on purpose it could have been to see just how popular Lami is. I agree it isn't the smartest way to see this kind of information but SM isn't always the brightest. That is really dumb of SM thinking of a strategy like this if it is true.

I really doubt that account is fake and that is a SM marketing strategy, I would love to be these things, but it doesn't make any sense

People had the same theory when trainees from JYP left before ITZY debuted and it wasn't the case so it really doesn't seem likely. I doubt SM, the company that has shown no interest in the Rookies for 4 years, would suddenly decide they wanted Lami to make an Instagram account for a marketing strategyI really doubt that account is fake and that is a SM marketing strategy, I would love to be these things, but it doesn't make any sense

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. Most groups lineups are finalised a year or more before their actual debut so that the trainees can become more comfortable around one another so it would make sense. Might not be a 4 membered group, but since we only saw 4 together who knows?

You do have a point. I guess we’ll have to see next month.I hope this is true, I'm excited to see Lami and Koeun debut so if this was all false I'll be so happy

Maybe ex-sm trainees unfollowed the account bc Sunkyung asked them to bc it was giving her a ton of attention/questions? but then again why would she even make the account public if that's the case...idk I still think it's real because it makes no sense as a marketing strategy and how would a fake account get those pictures + get her friends to follow/verify it?

I was thinking it was SM's strategy to create hype and get idea about Lami's popularity but that doesn't make any sense. What was their purpose behind it? If she was popular they were going to give her more lines, center, more screentime, more importance? And if not popular then the opposite? Lmao

i know this is unlikely but maybe sm just let her have an insta with no weird marketing strategy about it. i think theyve been more lenient about social media nowadays... but we know how sm is about their trainees

Okay so I've been thinking and it relates to my theory about the girl group having a small lineup. I feel like this past year SM have really wanted to break into the Western market and I feel like they won't stop anytime soon so, with that in mind, I have a sneaking suspicion that they'll target that demographic with the new girl group. Blackpink is arguably the most successful Kpop girl group worldwide right now, so it would make sense that SM would want the new girl group to appeal to the same market, which is obviously the Western market. 1 billion views, successful world tours and invitations to huge events like Coachella sounds like a dream to SM I imagine and with Blackpink having so many long periods between comebacks, SM could easily fill the void with the new group. Also, if that demo that was played in the SM documentary last year is for the new girl group, then I feel like potentially, my theory is somewhat accurate. Also the reason this relates to me thinking the group will be smaller, well, Blackpink are a small group and also I feel like Western audiences find it easier to stan groups with only a few members because there are fewer names/faces to remember

good point. perhaps this means koeun and lami left sm because they didnt make the cut? there are a billion trainees at sm and there is a good chance there may be some hidden trainees who are more talented or have better visuals. this is still weird because lami is mega popular even in predebut, idk why they would get rid of her

Likely reasoning could be that they didn't fit the concept? Once a company has the blueprint for what kind of direction they want to go for concept-wise, they go for members that are best suited for the said concept. In this case, assuming they do have a girl crush concept, Jimin would make sense because she had a darker, more mature image in Want, whereas all we've seen from the Rookies are cute, soft and innocent concepts. That's not to say they aren't capable of pulling it off, because I think Koeun & Hina especially would do amazing, but SM might have a certain image in mind that they don't fit intogood point. perhaps this means koeun and lami left sm because they didnt make the cut? there are a billion trainees at sm and there is a good chance there may be some hidden trainees who are more talented or have better visuals. this is still weird because lami is mega popular even in predebut, idk why they would get rid of her

I think we are complaining over nothing? Like we have nothing let’s just wait a bit more, we are just speculating and people are already complaining about said speculations, also we should accept that they’ll get bad comments regardless of their concept, it has happened to every SM group, like remember when Red Velvet debuted...
Let’s just wait a bit more, we get nothing stressing over things that had not even happened

As a person who lives in west more specifically America no one cares about the kpop except kpop stans and use to be boy band stans...they literally used NCT as a worldwide market with multiple people I doubt they really care about the size of the group plus if this was the case I feel like they would’ve been left they didn’t just plan this group over night and their actual concept
