Hey, I'm not sure why that happened in your specific case but when we reject awards it's because someone didn't fill in the form correctly or didn't put in the post count as a reason when requesting the award. Did you request it here as well?

do the changes to post count apply retroactively? should I recount all my badges and request from the new count or just start from where I stopped but use 25 posts from now on?

You're allowed to go back and claim badges for your previous post counts (like for example 225, 250 etc) but if that's too much work you can also start from where you last got your badge, it's your choice
