Future-A.png

Whenever I think of the future 3 things pops out in my head: neon, plastic and machinery! So that's what I tried to incorporate in my outfit. Shining like metal jacket, heavy shoes, robot legs pants as if it's real plastic gear and pop of colors added to them.
About the skirt hoop, it's well, not there to puff up any skirt, but instead it's a statement piece fully glowing from lights installed on it (imagine those lights please, there is no pics for that)
+
Mesh turtleneck goes under the top
White blobs on the pants is me turning them into shorts

Future-B.png

For the accessories I went with a mix of industrial looking ones (gloves, backpack), colorful ones (glasses, jewelry) and a head piece made out of plastic tubes to match different parts of the clothes and tie it together better (while also making it even more all over the place ... Future, guys)

Future-C.png

Hairstyle is a simple one, because the head piece is making the head plenty busy already, but I would like you guys to imagine the hair being neon blue (just like the lil' square on the hair pics shows). For nails I chosed clear long nails, I like how they clash with the gloves that I gave her and as for makeup I decided to go bananas with the blush making it basically the only makeup of hers. White lips just fit the randomness of this whole outfit for me, so that's why those are here, I also gave her contact lenses making her eyes look like some kind of machine too and last, but certainly not least, glowing fake lashes, we have to make sure her hoop skirt doesn't take take whole attention to itself~

...

Mina - 4/10 - Soo, since I can't judge on historical accuracy I'll just write my personal thoughts: Neon will always remind me of the 80's and it's something I dread to make a fashion comeback.. The outfit looks futuristic, yes, but it's also... ugly. I would have liked to see something more fashionable.
Mocha - 4/10 - It sure as hell is a futuristic outfit but is it also pleasing to look at? Not really. As much as I don't mind the top part and the makeup, I'm not really a fan of the skirt thingie and the shorts. She looks like a video game character but not the one that slays, the one that no one likes. And delete the hair condoms.
Riri - 5/10 - I don't like the way it is layered and the choice of colors in this one, neon doesn't always mean futuristic but some of the accessories and the hair are very cute.
Aki - 4/10 - The use of plastic, neon and metal is very futuristic. However where does futuristic end and where does cringe begin? I think there is just way too much going on here. From the neon mesh top underneath that pink underneath the metal jacket. Then you have the robotic plastic pants with the whole lit up hoop skirt. Tbh i think it would have looked good, if you had just switched the pants to regular black shorts or a mini skirt. cause it could have grounded the outfit and made that hoop pop. The accessories though.. oh my god. There is way too much going on. The hair tubes, the glasses, the bag, the gloves and that necklace and earrings. They are just too much for that outfit you picked. The outfit already is so busy, the accessories just make it even busier. I like the bag and the Dild... nails necklace and ear rings. The gloves, tubes and glasses are just not necessary imo. I like the makeup and hair... but that lit up eyelash...i am crying. I do appreciate the creativity though. with a few changes this outfit could have got a way higher score.

1860 Victorian era is what I have chosen for this round~

I took some inspiration from these photos:

-Dress-

...

Mina - 8/10 - Victorian Era is one of my favorite fashion eras, this look is a great interpretation of it. The dress seems a bit risque with the shoulders out but it's nothing that bothers me too much.
Mocha - 7/10 - A cute dress. Not a big fan of the top part of it but it's also not /that/ bad so I can live. Overall, cute but also, for whatever reason. I'm not impressed.
Riri - 8/10 - Everything looks very cute but it's a bit too safe to deserve a higher grade.
Aki - 8/10 - Victorian era clothes are very pretty to look at and you see them a lot in period pieces as most classics choose to focus on that era. So first off the dress. I like it. I like the colour and the way it looks. i think the image you chose is just not of good quality. I didn't like the dress that much when i saw it in the image you sent but when checking google i saw a higher quality picture which showed the details of the dress better and i liked it more. Is it the best victorian dress i have seen? No it is not, but i still like it very much. The accessories are pretty. I love how the bag suits the neckline of the dress and the jewelry is dainty and pretty. The hair style is cute. I also love the makeup. It is light and fresh which works well the victorian makeup.

For this topic, I decided to go with the historical approach, and I’m taking you all back to my home country, Vietnam, in the late 1800s, early 1900s. At this time, Vietnam was under the ruling of the Nguyễn Dynasty. So just a brief fashion history and explanation, in this era, all royals women, from the empress dowager, empress, princess, to royal concubine, were required to wear something called “Nhật Bình”, which is an overgarment with very fancy, dragon decorations made from very expensive silks(?). This is a royals-only garment, so you wouldn’t be seeing any peasants wearing this at all. Even in the modern-day now, you won’t be able to find this anywhere except for like the museums or some costume stores.

Some pics of the Nhật Bình overgarment
R8pqUkV.png

Here’s a collage of Vietnamese empresses and princesses from the era wearing this garment.
8BSBOjd.png

You can also see that they’re all wearing something on their head. That’s “khăn vành”, which is a headpiece made of long, thick cloth that is wrapped around the head like a funnel. This is only worn for special occasions. The color of the headpiece is mainly dark blue, but once in awhile, it can be yellow for very important events.

(Source: Wikipedia + a Viet History Book lol)
So for this outfit, I tried to recreate the royal look as much as I could, so just imagine this as the outfit of a Vietnamese princess in 1895. For the main body, a very red and grand Nhật Bình. Since Nhật Bình is only an overgarment, I need something to wear on the inside, so I decided to go with this white, Asian-styled shirt. I’m not entirely sure what they really wore on the inside back then, but based on the pics, I’m guessing it was something really similar in style. For the bottom, I went with a silk, white pair of pants, with black, royal-looking flats. As the Nhật Bình will cover most of these, I just want to go with basic colors so that they don’t overshadow the main piece.

3kyZ4AX.jpg

For the headpiece, a yellow khăn vành just cause it looks nice with the red main piece. I also chose some jade jewelry since they are very popular in the country. As for the hair, since it’s all going to be wrapped around that cloth, I went with a simple, top knot bun. Makeup was a tough one cause I wasn’t sure what they had at that time, especially with all the black and white reference pics, but I guessed that it was just a very basic and light makeup.

Ugz4ypJ.jpg

...

Mina - 10/10 - It was an interesting read, the outfit felt very close to what they wore.
Mocha - 8/10 - To be honest, it's kind of hard to judge this lmao does it match the theme? Hell yeah? But am I floored? Not really. So... yeah.
Riri - 9/10 - It's a very good read and i like the dress and the accessories.
Aki - 9/10 - I loved reading the history on this piece. I love the pieces you selected and the reasons you picked them. The Nhật Bình you picked is very pretty and i like it. To be honest, the pic you chose is not the greatest. the quality is low and you can't see the details too well. A google search did give me a better quality pic of the same outfit in a different angle, that shows the details better so i think you could have included it.https://data.whicdn.com/images/274531823/original.jpg . Because i can see the details better, i love the piece. I do believe you could have switched the shoes to a red or yellow pair. The black just seems a bit off with the rest of the outfit. the yellow khăn vành looks nice and the accesories are very pretty. the makeup is beautiful but i do think you could have maybe gone for a red lip. While the colour you picked is pretty, i think the red would have just made it so much more regal.

1940s USA

PART A:

New_Project_10.png

In 1947, Christian Dior introduced his ‘New Look’, which included a fuller and longer skirt. This look became popularized (USA) in the late 40s and remained popular in the 50s. Looking at photos of women in the 50s, I did not see wrap halter tops with a cutout. I did see many other necklines (example: https://www.retrowaste.com/wp-content/gallery/1950s-teen-fashion/1950s-teen-fashion-11.jpg). So, I will use the boatneck top on the right instead of the halter top. I would make it the same color as the top of the dress on the left (I will be keeping the bow belt). Pearls were trendy accessories in the 50s (x), so I found shoes that had pearl details.

PART B:

New_Project_11.png

On the bottom right is a bullet bra, which was popular in the 50s (x and x). Matching your accessories with each other or matching them with your dress was also trendy. Here (x) we have a woman matching her small handbag with her hat. Hats were popular, but so were headscarves (x). Gloves were a common item to wear (white being the most popular). Please disregard the animal print cloth on the handbag.

PART C:

New_Project_13.png

In the 50s it was common to over draw your lips into a round shape (x). The hairstyle I chose was the pageboy hairstyle (x)

...

Mina - 9.5/10 - It's historically accurate and a cute outfit. The wrap halter tops would indeed be too risky, so it was a wise choice to change. I liked the color combo.
Mocha - 7/10 - It's a cute look but I feel like when it comes to 50s you could've done more. It's one of the cutest eras fashion-wise, at least in my opinion, so I can't help but imagine what could've been done here. It just falls flat to me. I do love the color combo tho.
Riri - 8/10 - This is very detailed but i think the dress could've been a bit more elaborated or something else could've, keeping a color scheme is ok but sometimes it results in being too boring.
Aki - 8/10 - I like this look. It is cute and I love the details. I do think you could have gone for a better choice of dress as the 40s does have cuter outfits. but i am not too mad at it. I love the purse and the scarf. the makeup is cute too. the bullet bras are a lovely touch. i double checked this and noticed it was used in the 40s and 50s. so that is good.

I chose 1960s Era American Fashion
This era was known for its mod fashion which included solid colors or bright, poppy, and psychedelic-like patterns. Mini skirts and dresses also become popularised during this time. Which is why I chose a bright blue shift dress (which was also extremely popular at the time). It is paired with a bishop blouse which also saw a rise in popularity during the ear. This shirt would be worn underneath the dress. I also chose go go boots which are the most iconic and recognizable item to come out of this era.

...

Mina - 9.5/10 - Felt really close historically, but I'm not a big fan of the shirt. Perhaps you should've used a turtleneck top or gone with no shirt instead.
Mocha - 9.5/10 - Yes girl, love this! Although, I do agree with miss Mina that the shirt could've been different, there's a bit too much contrast with how minimalistic the dress is and how dressy the shirt is. I'm not that mad at it but with something more matching it could've been an easy 10.
Riri - 8.5/10 - I think you should've chosen between the shirt and the dress or styled the shirt with a mini skirt as you mentioned.
Aki - 9.5/10 - To be honest i like the dress. It is super cute. The shirt though with those sleeves... idk. i did check around for pics of the styling prevalent at the time and when shirts are there under the dress, it always copies the styling of the dress. A minimalistic dress has a minimalistic shirt. And most pics just had them go sleeveless. While i do like the inclusion of the shirt, cause i think the sleeves give it a very cute preppy look. I just wish it was a different shirt. leaving that aside i love the rest of the outfit. The little arm scarf fantastic. makeup and hair on point. shoes.. iconic.

Description

I have gone for a combination of Mughal and Marathi outfits from during the Mughal rule in India, used in the popular Bollywood film Bajirao Mastani. The two elements crucial for a traditional Marathi outfit are: The hat(worn by men mostly) and the the shawl/dupatta (worn by both men and women). The dress itself is a Mughal outfit, combined with traditional jewelry which is the pivotal part of a Mughal look ; the Mughals were all about accessorizing, specially with gold. I have also added a pair of Khussa shoes which was the main style of footwear back then. While the hat matches with the shade of the dress, the shoes were picked to match with the shawl. As the overall look is meshed in golden, I have added royal red lips to introduce a pop of color(as shown in the edited pic). A Mughal-style ruby ring was further added, to put focus on the wearer's hand as she plays the Mandolin instrument (note: the hand ornament she seems to be wearing in the last pic is not included).

Lastly, the main attraction of the dress lies in it's multiple layers that flow along when dancing(worn by entertainers back then)

Mina - 7/10 - The dress and accessories are gorgeous, but I felt like you based this on a Bollywood movie than reality.
Mocha - 4/10 - I feel like you shoot yourself with the foot with going full on Bollywood inspired look. The outfits for this round are supposed to be able to be worn by people at that time - and I highly doubt anyone at that time were meshing styles from two different cultures. The outfit by itself is really pretty so it's a shame.
Riri - 6/10 - This is great, i love everything about it however there was little to no intervention done, you could've chosen another dress from that era even if you had this image in mind.
Aki - 6.5/10 - See that dress is stunning. but it is a fusion of 2 different cultures. 2 cultures that throughout indian history did not fuse very well fashionwise cause most of the time, they despised one another. Given the context of the movie the outfit makes sense cause creative freedom. However in this round. I don't think it works cause historical accuracy was a must. However the dress is still very pretty. And the whole look is gorgeous.

Mina - 8/10 - It's accurate, but I think you decided to play it safe here.. I would have liked to see more details of the look.
Mocha - 10/10 - Oof yes, I love the dress. It's gorgeous and fit the theme perfectly so... a win for Marie Antoinette. Now we can eat that cake!
Riri - 8/10 - This looks great and choosing not to use many accessories is a good thing however i feel like the hair could have had some type of ornament in it to tie everything together rather than a hat.
Aki - 9.5/10 - So the whole look is gorgeous. I love the dress. I love the shoes. I love the makeup, I love the accessories. But then you have the hair. While the base style is great. 18th century france was known for making hair look like something out of a person's dreams. Hair was pompous and styled very lavishly. Given how you have gone the aristocratic route, i truly think you should have just gone all out and given a fancy hair do with flowers and feathers on the hair. While the hat is pretty, It needs to be all out glamorous for the era you picked.

Futuristic

The year 3000 is an apocalyptic wasteland - mad max style. Tech innovations have changed the world but Global warming and back to back pandemics have left the human race scrambling to survive on an inhospitable planet

Tech reigns supreme if you can afford it or steal it but in other areas humanity has fallen back through the ages

Mina - 7/10 - I think it's a cool outfit, if you had shown me this in 2012 I would've liked that your view seems very dark, it fits the dystopia that was popular back then, now I'm feeling more optimistic about the future. I wish there had been more colors in this.
Mocha - 5/10 - As a big sucker for anything dystopian, I wish you could've went harder with this, it just feels very... boring, for what it could've been. If you take away the accessories, it's pretty much just a 2020 eboy look. Riri - 7/10 - The fit is strong but seems like something is missing, maybe a long jacket! Either way its cool.
Aki - 8/10 - Hmm. I like your take on futuristic. I love the accesories they are just awesome. I actually dig the strappy crop top. Do i wish the fabric was more cool that a regular tee chirt fabric... yes. but do i still like it? yes. however those pants... it looks too boring and safe. Given this is the future, i wish you had gone for something more out there. Something more daring.

The inspiration: 1940s

NU7Gl6E.jpg

A) For this look i tried to go with a plain blouse and a high waist skirt. I decided do go more basic on colors, inspired by Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn who were both big fans on black & white looks. I added a little bit of color on the high heels and the glove (another Audrey classic look).

nluVjYg.jpg

B) For the accessories, i went with a pearl jewelry and a fabric purse, all pieces very trendy at that time.

djw15Ch.jpg

C) For hair, a voluminous wavy hair, and a very 40s makeup with a classic red lip.

DD9kzV6.jpg

...

Mina - 5/10 - I personally felt this was more 50's than the 40's. There's not much difference, only in the details. I associate red more with the 50's. Overall it's a cute look
Mocha - 5/10 - I like this a lot! Very simple yet effective. And well, you can never go wrong with this color combo. But I once again agree with miss Mina, it reads more 50s than 40s - even the two people you mentioned - Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn - hit it big in 40s, not 50s. So it's a shame, if it was labelled correctly, it sure as hell could've gotten a higher score, at least from me.
Riri - 6/10 - It's a cute fit but as the others said i'm not sure this reads 40s.
Aki - 6.5/10 - So first off that colour combo is a classic. It works so well no matter the era one picks. I love where you went for the outfit. The skirt and blouses were indeed worn in 1940s. However the blouse is of the wrong style. That fancy design wasn't present in the 40s. Blouses tended to be of the button down variety or had simpler necklines with lace and bows. However I think the use of red is fine. It wasn't the most common color of that period but it was present. I love the accessories and the hair and makeup. It's very classy. Though i do think the jewelry is a little too much for the outfit you picked. The jewelry would better suit a dress as it is very luxurious and doesn't suit your outfit which is more casual.
