Basically in Danganronpa the students are trapped inside the school and the only way they can escape is by murdering someone and getting away with it. They have a class trial each time someone is murdered and if the don't guess the murderer correctly everyone is executed. If they do guess the murderer correctly the murderer is executed instead.

The simulator is more basic than that, but it's along similar lines.
