I've not played the remakes, played through all the original releases as a kid though. The last RE I've played was biohazard? A friend randomly lent me a copy, shit was deeply unpleasant.

My absolute fav is the remake of the first one. They made it before the whole series had more action traits so it still feels like a survival horror
