ABOUT​

​

Chanmina, real name Otomonai Mina is a Japanese rapper. She was born on October 14th, 1998 in South Korea. Her father is Japanese and her mother is Korean. She is nicknamed "Nerima's Beyonce"​

As influenced by her mother who was a ballerina, Mina started learning ballet, piano & violin at a young age. She lived in South Korea until she was 3 years old, and after that spent her childhood visiting South Korea, Japan and the USA. In elementary school she started writing lyrics, and in high school she started composing seriously. Chanmina applied for the 9th tournament of "BAZOOKA!!! High School Student RAP Championship" (BAZOOKA!!! 高校生RAP選手権), where high school students compete at freestyle rapping. She ended up losing on the 2nd round. She officially debuted as a soloist on April 18, 2016.​

Totally agree! After Doctor her popularity (internationally) did rise a bit but she definitely deserves a lot more recognition.

J-pop rapper CHANMINA is set to drop her second studio album, Never Grow Up, this summer.

The album will be the breakout artist's first release under Warner Music. She had planned on crowning her latest project as a 20-year-old with this title, to reflect her intention of staying young at heart in a positive way as she legally becomes an adult in Japan.

The 13-track set will include "Doctor," the song that boosted her profile outside of Japan; "PAIN IS BEAUTY," written right before turning 20; and "I'm a Pop," which features her singing in Japanese, Korean and English for the first time. The limited first edition will include a bonus track.

The cover artwork and artist photos feature a rainbow of colors, each representing the various elements that comprise CHANMINA the artist. The teaser video shares some footage from the making of these still images. Watch below.

CHANMINA's new album, Never Grow Up, is scheduled to drop Aug. 7.
