I find it odd simply because he went right to sex which, was a k-actor, feels taboo. Usually you'd say something about "being with." It makes the statement feel more ambiguous. Like the difference between romantic and sexual attraction.

This pretty much implies bisexuality does it not? I don't feel like you'd phrase it like that if men were entirely off the table. But the whole response is kind of weird so idk lol

yeah, that was a weird reply, open for us to think about anything
of course he wouldn't say he likes men too, that would be too controversial, but the way he responded....
Getting into One Pact lately, and wondering how people felt about Seongmin/Jerome (his name when he was in TO1) and the whole story about him. When he and Woongki “left” the group a lot of people felt it was because both were too effeminate, though of course that wasn’t the official statement, and I’m curious to hear other people’s thoughts about him and the situation.
There is some irony in that Seongmin and Woongki seem to be doing fine and working but TO1 has sadly disbanded.

I feel the only reason he got overlooked so hard is because he was an introvert standing next to the epitome of beautiful, loud queen energy. He pinged hard for me from what I've seen, though I never followed TO1. Only they Avila episode in passing because I knew Woongki would serve.
I wanna say another member who pinged also got kicked out. The trio was nicknamed TOOWICE or something and they danced to girl group songs. Once is an incidence. Twice is a suspicious coincidence. Thrice is a purging.

He was definitely often thought to be queer when TO1 were still relevant, but he definitely has a general vibe of "my life is private" to him (kind of like Twice Dahyun, though obviously much easier for him since he's not as famous). TOOwice (Woongki, Seongmin, Minsu) all liked to do girl group dances and Seongmin was definitely the aegyo-boy of TO1. I think he could get away with a lot though because he was also tall and often considered the group's visual especially in Korea.
I don't want to say that mannerisms are everything, but Seongmin really does just carry himself in a very mild, borderline effeminate way that we've just been trained to assosciate with gay men. He has that dynamic of being fairly sweet and cutesy, but also having moments where he gets a little catty. He has a huge case of catty gay side-eye. Stereotypes aren't everything but he just... really falls directly under that umbrella, it's hard to ignore. I also think that just being assosciated strongly with Woongki tends to create an assosciation.
On Boys Planet he definitely tried to reinvent himself as more restrained though so I wonder if maybe he'd grown out of his cuter traits and was just playing the part for a while since it's what fans expected of him or if he was intentionally trying to appear less queer. By that point I'm sure he knew about what everyone was speculating got him kicked from the group. I'm going to be honest, this change in how he presents himself really felt like a direct response to the "kicked out for being too gay" allegations.
I do wonder if this more restrained and privateness we see from him now is because he feels outed and doesn't want to be seen like that. I feel like if he wanted to be seen as straight he could just start mentioning girls on occaison and people would stop thinking about him, but instead he's just become very insular. He's sort of eased up on the masc image he was trying to push during Boys Planet so far in One Pact but he's significantly less bubbly. At the end of the day it could also just be that he's depressed too. He's not had a great time in the industry, that's for sure.
I'll throw my theory on what happened with the TO1 exodus under a spoiler since it's only somewhat related:
I don't think Woongki was kicked out for presenting too gay, but I'm sure it didn't do him any favors. He's always been very outspoken, forward, and not willing to compromise on his morals (that time he went viral in Korea for chastising his slacker university classmates in a school-wide group chat comes to mind lol). He's very explicitly said he supports LGBTQ+ and while personally all of these things make me like him a lot, I imagine behind the scenes he would give conservative management a headache. It's also not that far of a stretch to assume that Woongki would not be so willing to tolerate some of the abuse that many idols, especially at the level TO1 was at, often endure. Frankly he's kind of a mouthy, spoiled, and very headstrong guy who very likely talked back to terrible Wake One management enough times to get fired. It's no secret that they were treated much better at n.ch and that probably exacerbated things when CJ took over.
I think Woongki got into trouble with management, thus his hiatus. Chihoon then got in trouble for talking about him on a live (I think people often forget that Chihoon also left the group slightly before and that it was pretty clearly tied to Woongki), got reprimanded because "we don't talk about Woongki" and promptly decided he was fed up and either quit or acted up enough to get fired.
A couple months later they kick Woongki out too. Maybe Minsu and Seongmin quit, maybe they act up to get fired. Who knows. Minsu it seems just didn't want to be an idol anymore. He seemed really out of his depth and not happy for the later years of the group. I hope he's doing better now, he seemed like such a sweet guy. Maybe Seongmin saw an out or maybe he's just ride or die with Woongki, it's always been hard to figure out if they're still super close or not. I think they were clearly very close during TO1's early years but they also self-admittedly fought a lot and that might have eventually lead them to being more distant.
Edit: Also just remembered he was half of the fandom ordained main TO1 ship and tbh they definitely leaned into it in a fanservicey way mostly but this interaction where they recount meeting each other felt a bit more authentic since Seongmin initiates it when it was typically the other way around. He teases J.You that he must have a crush on him (after J.You has spent a good deal of the video borderline flirting with him) and then kind of refuses to back down when J.You calls his bluff.

Woongki congratulated him on his debut with One Pact so he and Seongmin seem on good terms at least.
I don’t really see a huge difference in how he was in Boys Planet to One Pact, partly because he got little scream time on BP. I do feel like he toned his more effeminate actions down but it’s still very apparent. How much is a conscious choice is a mystery though.
