I don't think this was posted here already

We need veteran actors in BL. We want old man yaoi
mark-ruffalo-mark-ruffalo-olivia-wilde.gif

At the very least, content that isn't in high school or played by idols who can't act. Preferably both. Lmao.

I might delete this later but can I get a second opinion on something :jinjudge:
Is it me or is Kevin’s Instagram stories giving “I’m going through a breakup”?

Like, he has a very VERY vast music taste and shares every artist under the sun in his stories regardless of if they are a big or small artist.

I just doing know if it’s a coincidence he’s sharing breakup/esque songs lately or is anyone else catching a theme :jinjudge:

Lol yeah unless he's trolling it's definitely a break up. He definitely knows how these songs back to back would look so he's for sure going through it. Or feeling especially nostalgic I guess.

the moment we've been waiting for.... woongki is debuting.....
Oh I am eagerly awaiting Woongki and Shuaibo shenanigans they were born for this thread. Honestly one of my favorite survival shows, I ended up being fond of almost every single contestant and thankfully they didn't debut just 7 members so it doesn't feel like there were any major sacrifices. Daisuke is too young but what can you do this always happens. Only one minor in the entire group is a decent win and majority 20-somethings is nice. In my ideal world somehow Joohyoung/Hanseo/Kairi stole that spot but that's not really realistic. Joohyoung's group is still active I guess? and I could see small companies snagging some of these guys. I feel like most of the eliminated contestants have the potential to find success elsewhere.

Anyway here's Shuaibo screaming when Whiplash comes on and giving one of the cuntiest renditions I've ever seen (ft. JL)

He's always had that melancholy sensibility to him as well. It's a toss up.

With T.O.P trending so much on TikTok due to squid games old bigbang stuff has been trending on TikTok and by old bigbang stuff I mean I guess they use to create remakes of old kdrama’s with T.O.P and Gdragon? And out of all my years in kpop I gotta say this is the most I’ve ever seen two group members kiss each other in my entire life :uwot:

There is a not insignificant part of me that wants the two of them to be queer. They don't have to be or have been together, but same team.

Seeing the videos really made me realize just how much kpop has changed over the years because now in days kpop fans with 4th and 5th gen idols are like "omg they hugged each other/slapped each other's butt they must be in gay and in love uwu" meanwhile back then everyone was kissing each other and no one took it too seriously.

Maybe the expansion in global fans in kpop kind of changed this?

I think it probably just boiled down to risk/reward. The influx of western fans post-bts to kpop as a whole brought a lot of people who weren't really down with the queer-baiting, partly through not having much exposure to it and finding it distasteful (there really isn't much of this in western media at all until very recently, while east asia and sea who were previously kpop's two biggest international markets have long had similar queer baiting in their own media) and also from a large and vocal amount of homophobic stans who were wildly uncomfortable with the idea of their oppa being gay.

Companies stop doing so much fanservice and realize that dialing things back really doesn't change the group's success or even the fandom dynamic of shipping much at all. Therefore what's the economic interest in forcing every group to play the paper game, when it could turn into potentially damaging fandom discourse? There were still earlier 4th gen groups who leaned more into the sort of queer fanservice expectation (oneus, onewe, dongkiz, come to mind but they were groups I personally stanned during their early years so I'm sure there's more examples) and some of them still do this (oneus again comes to mind) but I think it's undeniable that the ones who do still engage in this marketing are not targetting or heavily thriving in the general US+ english speaking kpop sphere.

Of course I'm sure in some cases idols advocating against it tipped the needle. A lot of 2nd gen idols who did that heavier fanservice have transitioned into ceo or other influential roles and might be saving newer generations from the awkwardness of it all.

It's so true. The thought of homosexuality was just so out of mind that it wasn't even an option.

Also this. A lot of this.

They aren't really able to exist in their niche anymore and are forced out into mainstream in order to be competitive. So even the companies/groups/idols this wasn't an issue for didn't really have an option.

I'm not into fanservice myself, so I don't mind either way, but it must've been an interesting set of meetings.

(Also dongkiz need to be talked about more in this thread. Lol)

From being a fan of Dongkiz pre-semantic error and everything that happened... thinking about them really just makes me sad these days. I do wish the best for the remaining lineup but I was a Munik fan who was bias wrecked by Kyoungyoon so uh wow that sure went well for me huh?

Jaechan I get and yeah I do think he likes guys (he seems bi to me personally) but I've also always found him a little annoying so I don't have much to say on him lmao

I also think that the few people who are in the know about what went down pre-lineup change would all agree that discussing the group that was in this sort of thread is in very poor taste. My heart will always be with that original lineup and I did have a period of time where following them during that meteoric rise was fun but oh boy golly if you know, you know is all I'm comfortable saying.

Those were my two faves as well.

I have no idea what happened. I only knew them from their oh my girl cover. I can guess though. Which kind of breaks my heart.

I just wanted to ask people, for who are familiar with Infinite- is there any particular reason so many people back in the 2010s thought L/Kim Myungsoo was gay? I personally don't see it but I'm curious about this

One thing I cannot stand is, and it may sound tone deaf and stupid, people who don't wanna listen or even accept that some idols/actors may be queer. I've seen so many comments on Twitter and TikTok of people refusing to even entertain that idea, which is so harmful in my opinion, and only adds to them not ever coming out and not being able to live their truth.
And the thing is, some idols/actors are just so obviously queer, like you cannot deny it. And a lot of them seem to drop hints with what they say or do. And these people just don't wanna hear other queer people who may tell them (as if they are better at spotting your own people).

And it is even worse with celebs with big fanbases. I know it is the fantasy of being able to maybe one day get with them doing the work here.

People like Gong Yoo or Lee Dong-wook who, it's very clear they are not straight, and may probably be MLM; they are two men in their 40s, still single and they always giving excuses as to why they don't date: "i'm lazy" "i have high standards"... And these people still are adamant in thinking they are straight. And I know I am speculating, I know lol

Even people with substantial rumors like Yim Siwan they ignore. It is more understandable with kpop idols because they have to sell a certain image and fantasy. And even then, idols cannot hide either (can't name examples here because there's many and I'm not very focused right now lol).

Bottom line is, it is just annoying. I had to let it out!

Iirc a lot of it was his interactions with Sungjong. Myungsoo had that "mysterious" persona but he didn't really maintain it and was pretty touchy and sweet with Sungjong which drew attention. I know people also shipped him pretty hard with Sungyeol. He was also just a little less masc in a group of mostly pretty masc members which tends to let people come to conclusions.

I think it mostly faded out after his dating scandal with Kim Doyeon though. I think the early parts of the OH thread were mostly infinite fans so maybe read through those. To my knowledge it was primarily just his interactions with Sungjong and Sungyeol though.
