[NOTICE] Notice on the future activities of fromis_9

Hello.
This is PLEDIS Entertainment.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have shown unwavering support and love for fromis_9. We would like to provide some information regarding the future activities of fromis_9.

fromis_9 will become an 8-member group starting from this coming August and will meet their fans in their upcoming Japanese activities and other various activities scheduled for the second half of this year.

fromis_9’s fifth EP “from our Memento Box” will be the last promotional activity of JANG GYU RI as she wraps up her time as a member of fromis_9. She will conclude her contract earlier with us as of July 31 to embark on a new journey.

The eight members of fromis_9 (LEE SAE ROM, SONG HA YOUNG, PARK JI WON, ROH JI SUN, LEE SEO YEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG and BAEK JI HEON) signed a new exclusive contract with us when they transferred to PLEDIS Entertainment in August 2021. JANG GYU RI maintained the conditions of the original contract with her former agency and PLEDIS has been in charge of tasks including the management of her team and individual activities.

The artist and the company made the decision after careful consideration and discussions on what would be the best path for everyone. Please continue to send your love and support to JANG GYU RI, who has always committed to do her best as a member of fromis_9 and to the eight members of fromis_9 who will start a new chapter of their careers.

Our company will continue to support fromis_9 to help them grow as artists as they continue their activities in various fields.

Welp this is huge news.

Didn't see this coming at all and very curious about a lot of stuff. It's a shame it happens right now as the girls are finally getting some results for the hard work they put in but people have to make the best choice they can for their lives and I respect Gyuri's decision. Wish her luck in her future endeavors.

One of the things I'm curious about is since they mentioned the girls signed a new contract when they switched to Pledis if they knew this deadline since then or if it was something that happened later or even recently.

Just last week I was thinking to myself about the statement they put out saying Gyuri had drama shooting and might not be able to take part on some activities but then she basically was in everything except like 1 or 2 iirc. I wonder if there is any relation and what happened to that.

That means Gyuri's decision was made last year. So the members knew about this and they promoted Memento Box with that in mind.

fromis_9 had their most successful era this month and we got this.

Of course it's Gyuri's decision, I'll respect it, I wish her the best. She likely wanted to be an actress since the beginning. But she had to start somewhere so she participated to Idol School. I think she didn't expect to be part the group.
It's a hard decision, she knew it was going to have a huge impact on her members and on her fans. She's done being an idol.

I hope this decision wasn't "too early", even if she's currently filming and it's like her 3rd or 4th role in a drama. She could've stay a few years to solidify her reputation, to gain more visibility, more success, before moving on. But maybe HYBE's contract proposition didn't allow her to get what she wanted, so she stayed with Pledis. Of course all this is speculation and it's only my opinion.

hey I was expecting some members to left Lovelyz, I was accepting that scenario but I was not ready for a disbandment. I got depressed for weeks back then. So I realized I couldn't do anything about that and since that was what the girls wanted to do I could not even get mad at them. Just remember I got hit by GFriend disbandment a couple months before. That's why I'm glad Fromis still Fromis even if Gyuri is not there
And is not like I never had my bias taken from me. Choa, Mirae, Wheein and many more, that's why I don't like to have bias in a group, especially in Fromis case that I could not even pick someone I like the most, I just like them all, I dare to say they are my favorite group since I consume and enjoy their content more than any other group (shamefully I have to thank Pledis for this, they have been doing a good job).
I forgive u for thinking that about me cuz you are my friend, but don't assume I'm not feeling anything, it's just that there's nothing I can do

It hit a lot, it was a huge shock, because it was so sudden, even K-Flovers didn't saw it. Gyuri was one of the members I thought she would not renew but I didn't expect their contract to be that short at first.

I couldn't sleep well as usual that night when I saw the news. I was watching their Idol vs Idol episodes when it came out.

Talking about Lovelyz, they have gone throught 7 years without any lineup change. With hindsight it's an big achievement because few groups could do it (in my mind : Sistar and Rainbow, also Spica and GFriend were together from the start, I won't include top 3 since it's different).

Flovers really thought the group would remain together for 7 years. Even if we knew being an idol wasn't Gyuri's thing. And maybe because for most Flovers it's their first experience to feel the suffering of losing a member.

To not forget : for Gyuri it was likely a very difficult decision, she knew it would be a shock for the fandom. I can't imagine how the other members feels at this moment now that the news was made public.
