2019 M2 X Genie Music Awards Announces Nominees + Voting Begins
IZ*ONE are both nominated for The Female Group and The Performing Artist(Female).
And why they did not include IZ*ONE in The Female New Artist though? I am pretty sure they are eligible to participate in that category.

2019 M2 X Genie Music Awards Announces Nominees + Voting Begins
IZ*ONE are both nominated for The Female Group and The Performing Artist(Female).
And why they did not include IZ*ONE in The Female New Artist though? I am pretty sure they are eligible to participate in that category.

Most likely they wont nominate a group for both the main award for the gender AND the rookie award for the gender, so since IZ*ONE qualified in the main categories they took them out of the rookie contention, same a (G)-Idle

But tbh, its an award based on mostly on digitals/social media so they would be losing the Rookie award to ITZY anyway, Dalla Dalla is still the best performing girl group song this year so far and its Youtube views are much higher than anything IZ*ONE has released.

I say its better to lose the big awards to the top groups then to lose the rookie award to a 4 month old group

Physical sales aren't a factor in these awards, it's run by Genie so it's mostly based on digital performance and social media (YouTube, etc...) where ITZY has them beat

IDLE were nominated and won last year female ROTY at MGMA. And they probably still have a better chance at ROTY than female group of the year. 50% is voting and judge panel scores.

lol nvm what i said. Apparently M2xGenie music awards are not the same as MBC plusxGenie music awards, as Loona are nominated again for this year's female ROTY. edit: the nominations make no sense. They did not miss the debut deadline(as Loona&GWSN debuted earlier and are nominated). And going by that criteria ITZY would also be qualifying for the main category instead of ROTY.

WIZ*ONE aren't exactly the best at organizing for online voting, we've seen that multiple times, and judges aren't gonna be looking at or factor in their physical sales for an award that's clearly about digitals, they will be looking at stuff that isn't explicitly captured in the stream/download numbers but not an entirely different medium. It's a digital award show at the end of the day.


Yes they have a technically better shot at the rookie award since they would be clear #2 based on those nominees but they wouldn't actually win so again I'd say it's better to be nominated with the big guns and lose then be nominated and lose this rookie award.

Here is my guest why (G)-Idle was not included in Female New Artist since according to the rules.

In order to be eligible, the music must have been released between July 1, 2018 and June 19, 2019. The nominations were chosen based on Genie Music’s chart data, video view counts, and social media buzz during this time period.

And (G)-Idle debuted back in May 2018 so they were not part of the Female New Artist as for IZ*ONE, yeah you are right since they won so many New Female/Rookie Awards last year.
