I don't follow the thrones well enough to comment, but in the end, Bran Stark, a wheelchair bound kid who didn't really do anything in the show, became the final winner.

Similar to Sima Yi of Romance of 3 Kingdoms, who didn't really show up until about the final 1/3 of the story, and Lee Jieun (IU), who took over KPop despite of contributing nothing whatsoever to KPop's worldwide growth.
