MMA is one of the bigger ones. It is Melon's after all. Yeah, this is the one they missed last year because of the Guam concert, which led people to suspect there's beef between Melon/JYPE over all the sajaegi scandals. In any case, with Fancy's and FS's charting this year, I don't think Twice will be up for any MMA daesangs this year, much like last year.

The Twicelight JP dates were announced mid-July. Not sure if the award dates would have been finalized by then though. At the same time, the concert dates would have been bound by venue availability and other things as well. Could be beef. Could be coincidence. Could be both. I know some people are disappointed, but for me it's one less award show to have to prep performances for.

I wonder if agencies have to pay for the staging on award shows like they do for music shows?

Can honestly say i never really looked into it massively and therefore for some reason I always thought MAMA was the Melon one

Major award dates usually get booked in months in advance but maybe not in Korea I guess. Personally as a Twicelights concert in Japan is part and parcel with what Twice do often, whereas Award show stages are always different and a much nicer watch (and I like seeing the reactions and all that jazz as well, bit of a guilty pleasure) it's a shame imo, the MAMA performance was my favourite performance of theirs last year - a lot more effort is just put into them.

Well, they are all competitors now. There's Melon vs FLO (partly owned by SM, JYPE, BigHit, and a few other). KakaoM (owner of Melon) is also a music distributor (competing against iRiver, which is also a coalition involving JYPE, SME and a few others). Plus KakaoM also owns agencies like Starship, Fave Ent/ Plan A (now merged), and also 1theK. Besides the sajaegi controversies, there are plenty of other areas for them to rub each other the wrong way. LOEN/KakaoM, CJ E&M, etc. used to be distributors / networks but are now encroaching on agency territory, and vice versa.

I'm not sure either. Initially we thought she was in Korea for promo but turned out that wasn't the case. I'm guessing since Twice have always recorded stuff in advance so she might've been back for that. I would think the FAT recording would take place in Japan? If so maybe she just left in advance

Must I say though, I'm happy for those few seconds where she didn't have to hold on to her mom's hand (which, don't get me wrong, is so endearing). Baby steps
