I think looking to Melon as the ultimate source for member popularity may not be the best approach. For instance here is the worldwide popularity of a few search terms over time (the whole sweet unit plus Yeonjung):

Yeah but Im talking about charting which is directly related to Melon, not abstract popularity which has failed to make a dent on their charting. If we were talking about who wants their picture or fancam fine, but reality is to chart they need Yeonjung their history shows that quite extensively.

Maybe Melon follower numbers are inflated from many followers coming from early 101 fame, and never unfollowing but becoming less interested over time.

I trust metrics that express current interest as a better barometer of, well, current interest. If Yeonjung's popularity has waned and is much less than Bona's, Seola's, and Luda's, then Starship's emphasis makes more sense.

As for Melon likes on the albums, just where they are on the calendar seems like a more likely explanation. Or even the style differences in the music.

Fancams really arent the same at all . Im not talking about popularity of the idol in general like fancams, Im talking about charting on melon with followers, the reason for example half of Yeonjungs osts have more likes than Chocome or to put it in better perspective Boogie up has 27k likes Butterfly 19k and UNnatural is at 9 k, Yeonjung has 3 osts at 12k and one at 17k.

Her followers on Melon at 9,300 is 1/4th of the total WJSN followers at 37k


The relation is that in general they've been charting worse since I wish. And as they cut lines for title tracks of Yeonjung those are the worst charting WJSN songs since debut. Boogie Up, Butterfly and Unnatural. Fancams dont listen on melon they arent the same type of popularity. You can look at other groups melon followers to understand why they chart where they do.
