Glad to see that the boycotts haven't affected Twice. So far, it's been one way, but that may change over time.

Mainly because Billboard itself just recently started counting sales officially on their site since around 2015+ or so. So it would be unfair to use Oricon numbers for the 1,000+ artist and groups that had releases before 2015 and use Billboard, which always has higher sales, for newer groups. That's why we only combine Gaon and Oricon. If you however want to compare newer groups who've had releases since Billboard start releasing the sale numbers then thats okay. But it wont be counted in Twice's overall total. It's like when certain fandoms use Chinese $0.50USD albums and adds them to overall album sales. It's misleading and purposefully disingenuous

It would be something similar to MIAK and gaon, at the end of the day Oricon is the one who is wrong, all his damn system is wrong for exclude sales outside Japan as if they did not exist. Imagine that gaon suddenly changed and said that sales outside Korea would not be counted, Twice would lose 1/3 of their sales for not counting Japan and much more for not counting the rest of us. I think Billboard is right, Oricon is just being petty because many of Japan top artists have no international projection and for example a international group like bts comes with their huge international fanbase and destroys them.

It's time to use the chart that is right. Billboard >>> Japan

well billboard counts outside japan sales but lbh most of these sales are still from japan only, but oricon has more rules to restrict fan bulk-buy. Like akb48 sold 1 million on oricon but 2 million on billboard, you think akb48 sold 1 million albums outside japan? nah

I think there's a misconception here... Billboard Japan does NOT count all sales either. There are some groups who have higher sales in Oricon than on Billboard Japan. Both charts just count different sets of sales, based on their own criteria.

Oricon just happens to be the more respectable chart. Also, Billboard doesn't show sales of any album not charting within the top 50, so tracking sales for long periods of time is impossible with that chart.
