Looks like Fancy has just 4 more weeks to go to make it to 30 weeks on the Melon Top 100. It stayed about level for about 3 weeks at 58, but dropped slightly last week to 61. Fancy staying level was probably a combination of getting a boost from the FS comeback, but also from the delayed comebacks due to recent events. Although DTNA crashed out of the Top 100 3 weeks after hitting the 60s, the rest remained for at least 4 weeks, and often much more. So 30 weeks is still doable for Fancy IMO, even though the heavy hitters will be coming back soon. Fingers crossed.

Well, almost every song above FS on Melon is a ballad, so that seems to be the current listening trend in SK. Award shows might boost FS a little, but primarily from K-Onces. GP, probably not.

Well i read korean forums after it was released and more than half of the criticsm was because they couldn't understand what they were singing. Twice were saying how the lyrics are important for this song, but what's the point when GP can't understand them lol. Most people will not look up the lyrics. Even Jihyo said in vlive before showcase that she read comments that they can't tell what she's singing in the teaser. Mixing is to blame.

That's interesting. I wasn't even aware that this was an issue (for obvious reasons). I actually went back to re-listen to their last few songs. in Fancy, their vocals are well forward of the music, but both FS and F&T have vocals that have to contend with the louder instrumentation.

Hi all!
First of all, I'm usually a reader-only on forums like this, but now I really feel the urge to express my thoughts on this. And it's gonna be a bit long, sorry for that...

So I have been into k-pop since 2009, being a fan of a few boy groups and a lot of girl groups. I have always liked ggs with a more mature sound, cute things were never my cup of tea at all.
When Twice first debuted I liked their debut track but then pretty much lost interest in them after CU-TT-KK (and I had a hard time understanding how they can be so popular with this type of music btw)... Despite that, as they kept releasing new music, I always checked out their title tracks, only to realize they still go with a sound and message that I don't like and cannot relate to. And when they started saying their new music is going to be different, I started hoping it finally will be something I like too. Then came Fancy and I was still kinda disappointed, it felt only a little bit different, still not something that I would give my money for.
But just yesterday, Feel Special came out, and after watching the MV, I went to iTunes and checked out the rest of the album, and ended up buying FS, Get loud and Love foolish.

So my first point is that while there definitely are people who will lose interest if a group with a very specific sound changes that, but other people will discover them in exchange, and become a fan or at least a general listener, who checks out new releases. It might be that they "lose" more fans than "gain", and it can seem like they are "flopping" (omg how much I hate this word), but concept/sound changes can be a new push to a groups career too (look at AOA, EXID). Sometimes it can bring an artists career to the next level, other times it will only show in the long run. But whatever the case, a concept change isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can be an opportunity too!

My second point is if they would stick to their sound pretty strictly for say 10 years from after their debut, wouldn't their songs get more and more generic a repetitive over time? Wouldn't people lose interest because their music would give off a forced, overdone feeling and the whole group would seem to be unimaginative? And also consider the fact that no one's getting younger, so would it really be good if the members were in their late twenties and still singing songs like Cheer up? I definitely don't think so... especially if the members themselves expressed their desire to try out different sounds and concepts. As a fan would you really like to see them perform songs you know they don't like? Would you really believe what they are selling if you knew they don't believe in it? Again, I don't think so...

And finally, as many before me already pointed out, idol groups releases, in general, are doing pretty bad this year. So the fact that the song is a bit lower on Melon than most would expect from Twice, don't forget that song is no1 on other charts including a lot of international iTunes charts. And it's only been out for about a day, it might ends up having a long and even chart run if more people like me, who weren't listening to their music, discover the song and/or those who miss their old sound get to accept and like this new one after hearing it a few times. Also, the yt views being much lower than for the last few releases is because the recent changes yt made about counting ad views, so this will effect other artists as well.

Sorry for this lengthy post, I just really wanted to share my opinion because first time since their debut, I'm really enjoying this new release from the girls, the title track, the MV and the whole album!

It was actually being pretty steady in the teens but it has just dropped a few places pretty quickly - whoever MC Mong is. With Taeyeon and IU dropping as well think it might struggle to be steady

LOL. I think we have to give J-Onces some slack. Since July, they've had:

• H2 + merch
• BT + merch
• Tuwaii merch
• Now, they have Twicelights JP concert plus merch,
• Coming up, they have &TWICE, and most likely season's greeting.
• Not to mention MAMA 2019 is in Osaka Dome.

Also, FY sales after 5 weeks was 92K, so FS is not too far off.

if only they had chance to promote at china region,, china fans is crazy when it comes to buybulk physical and how about amazon pre order that they sent in november are they also conted it for 400k gaon shipment???

Well, China's gonna be closed to kpop, not just Twice, for a while, I think. Trump's trade war with China isn't helping, and peace talks with NK is pretty much dead, so those THAAD missiles are staying. I was wondering if Taiwan promotions was going to be possible next year, since the pro-China party was seemingly in the lead earlier this year. But apparently the pro-independence party is back in the lead, and elections are only a few months away. If pro-independence wins, then I think JYPE will probably be skipping Taiwan for a couple of more years.
