StanHmmm. Interesting that album sales won't be factored in until next year, I would have thought this year as the outlets would have had to buy it from JYP/SONY in order to sell it to the consumer (us). Returns usually get factored in later I could see in 1Q21 from the outlets. Don't anticipate any as Oricon already has 390+K sold and pre-orders were 350K so I'm guessing they are close or have passed the point were they had to make more after the initial CD manufacturing. (PS I know they say 1H21 but it really is going to at least be 1Q21). Note they are saying that they expect NiziU to account for about 8% or so of JYP's sales on music alone not counting merchandise or CF's (cough coke, etc...)An investment analyst's report on JYPE, referencing NiziU's successful debut in Japan.

The rest is going to be a bit detailed talking about stocks and such so if not interested...
One thing though I would never invest in an entertainment stock as it's too volatile and a 30:1 PE ratio is way out of my ballpark. 20:1 is about max I'd do and I like it when it is at 10:1 to be honest if I'm going to buy.
A misleading item was mentioned in the article about JYP though. They mention sales are down. BUT while that is true costs are also down so that even though sales are down they are still making a profit and have so far made one each quarter. Of the BIG3 they are the only company to do that.
Example. YG had a bad Q1 and had a net income of -1.8BW and SM had a horrible Q3 were they were -19B Won. YG is turning a profit this year as their other quarters were fairly good and I expect Q4 with BP doing so well on their album. SM is going to be down end of year as I can't see them re-covering that. This would be 2 years In a row they would be down (no they aren't going to go bankrupt they are still fine. Think faucet is dripping a bit not the pipe being broken)
Did a brief look and they also have YG as a buy with a PE of 30 to 35:1 (PE is Price of stocks / Earnings in case you were wondering)

Their PE ratios are nothing compared to the current stock market darling TSLA though (PE ratio: 1,743.58).Hmmm. StanYes.... I wouldn't own that either . And 1,743 is good for them as they were BIG TIME NEGATIVE for the longest time. That stock is feel good stock in that "I beleive Electric Cars will rule and save the planet" or "Elon Musk is everything" groups. Kind of like how the every day person does for KPOP companies stock. It's just not for me.Their PE ratios are nothing compared to the current stock market darling TSLA though (PE ratio: 1,743.58).

StanContributions to JYP's bottom line in album sales.
This includes Physical as well as digital downloads per Wikipedia's 2020 discography only and doesn't cover recurring sales from previous years. Data is as of 1/13/2021. Only included Japan and Korea sales as US sales are trivial. I'm also not including solos or Chinese data because that information is a bit sparse and in some cases not available uniformly. So don't think of this as a total "money" contribution but just physical and digital album sales only based on full groups. Individual sales would primarily be with JYP himself and Got7. For Steaming I'll leave for someone else.
Twice = 1,053,316 sales in Korea, and 537,691 in Japan. Total 1,591,007. This corresponds to 36%
Stray Kids = 804,877 sales in Korea and 221,255 in Japan. total 1,026,132. This corresponds to 23%
Got7 = 734,625 sales in Korea and 3,144 in Japan. Total 737,769. This corresponds to 17%
NiziU = 0 sales in Korea and 587,656 in Japan. Total 587,656. This corresponds to 13%
ITZY = 369,899 sales in Korea and 25,083 in Japan. Total 394,982. This corresponds to 9%
Day6= 81,699 sales in Korea and 0 in Japan. Total 81,699 corresponds to 2%

StanFound some other interesting stuff on the Kōhaku Uta Gassen. TV votes only since there was no audience in the 2020 Kōhaku. As a small side note on the the Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song battle) results. After a 3 year drought the girls team "Red" won last night. So winners on their debut performance so to speak . Doesn't really mean that much but just a little tid-bit.
https://www.tokyohive.com/article/2020/12/red-team-wins-the-71st-nhk-kohaku-uta-gassen
2015 Red=346,259 votes, White=334,857 (Red team wins)
2016 Red=2,500,882 votes, White=4,155,816 (Red won due to TV viewing accounts for only 1/7th of score and Judges account for 5/7th
2017 Red=1,432,371 votes, White=2,236,339 (White team wins)
2018 Red=240,537 votes, White= 411,931 (White team wins)
2019 Red=332,394 votes, White=437,825 (White team wins)
2020 Red=2,635,200 votes, White=1,383,180 (Red team wins) (voting changed here due to no live audience)
So not only was NiziU part of the winning side (Team women), but of a decisive win by the woman's side.
Ratings also increased from the previous years rating of 37.3% to 40.3% Yep 40.3% of Japanese TV's were tuned into the show.
