Korea is now deeply in the virus epidemic.
It is most severe in the city of Taegu( now spelled Daegu but I prefer the older spelling), which might have led Red Velvet's Irene and BTS' Suga, both from that city (a major transportation hub in southeast Korea), to donate a large sum.
The government's response to this epidemic is simply laughable. For reasons beyond the scope of this site, Taegu has a lot of people which do not like Korea's current regime, who knows the people of Taegu will not like it no matter what, so is not too hot about saving the people there.
A certain uber-reactionary and isolationist singer, named Lee Jieun, sent 3,000 protective suits to Taegu. It is a drop in the bucket since they need about 1,000 suits per day. I am not aware of any connections between her and the city of Taegu.
The govt supposedly sent 47,000 suits to there but no one has seen it.
What happened is Lee Jieun did not send the suits to some govt agency - she sent the suits to the Korean Medical Association, which sent the suits to the doctors directly. In other words, Lee Jieun went to the source directly rather than going thru steps.
The head of the local association of doctors mentioned he did not see any suits from the govt, but he used the suits sent by an entertainer. Since only one entertainer, Lee Jieun, sent suits to there directly he basically thanked KPop's Senior Singer.

Yknocker/yknok/whyknock has written about Lee Jieun since 2012. And wondered why it was so hard for all these Kpop acts to defeat her despite of all these.
It is probably because she is now sovereign.
Lee Jieun is one of the very few singers (like Psy and Rain) who do not have to answer to her company - she is the Company.
So she can choose her battles according to what she sees fit, an advantage few other singers in KPop have.
Given the changed trends of KPop, yknok will have to give up yknok's dream of a challenger defeating KPop's Greatest Anachronism, since it is likely that she will remain quite powerful for the rest of 2020s, and even maybe 2030s because she had changed her singing style to the current trend of whispering (like Billie Eilish), which is less stressful for the vocal cords.

Yknok is very sad to hear about a report.
Yabuki Nako, in a recent fansign, said she watched SuperM's Jopping and LeeJieun's Blueming music videos.
That reduces the number of IZOne members who do not like KPop's Least Useful Singer to two (Lee Chaeyeon and Honda Hitomi).
