Lurkerit wasn't posted about here but iu changed the title of her new song from "love wins" to "love wins all" after korean members of the lgbt community expressed concern. i know this whole drama is controversial but i did think the statement was thoughtful

I was honestly kind of wondering if the song or mv might be pro-lgbt (something along the lines of Jieun's Don't Look at me Like That) but I guess this implies it wasn't intentional.

Lurkerhello! i'm a refugee coming from OH ~
initially i wanted to post at the end of december but i had some issue with the approval of my account so i had to wait for a while then i wanted to post at the beginning of this month actually but i caught a cold yikes
anyway, i'm glad to see this thread continuing its life on another forum, the previous thread started as a place for gossiping about your faves but it has become something more than that over time, it ended up being a safe place for all the LGBT+ stans and i hope the same for this thread even more so now that in my opinion the kpop community has become more heteronormative compared to the past :>
i sincerely hope to see other users joining us in the future.
pannchoa translated a post where no one seemed outraged at first but it isn't a reliable source and there are plenty of trolls lol i read several tweets from k-lgbt community who expressed discomfort regarding the title and the fact the MV is going to depict a straight couple. if you think about it the sentence "love wins" has been associated to and used by the lgbt community a lot of times, seeing it associated to an heterosexual couple it's probably what caused their discomfort in the first place.
at this point i personally think it wasn't intentional but that's really thoughtful from her and her company to change it.

StanDo we have any recent-ish receipts on Park Jinyoung (other than him murdering Fast Forward in uniform [not a real receipt, but I love the vibes])?

LurkerSunoo straight dating rumors???
The OP claims that their friend saw Sunoo with actress Lee Soomin in Jeju. Reception is mixed between people gobsmacked at him getting het rumors, people saying they'll support him whether he's dating or not, and people pointing out that if this Jeju date supposedly happened around January 5-6 (when OP posted), it's impossible since he was in Jakarta at the time lmao
Never thought I'd see the day... if Sunoo is straight, I will consider my gaydar irrevocably broken

He could just be having a friend vacation right? Anyway his energy is so strong I'd need a lot more evidence to buy into het Sunoo lol
Keonhee collabing with Woongki... he has a type lol
Also I've been wondering if maybe the fact that reacts aren't anonymous makes lurkers even more anonymous... I wonder if they were like on OH the thread wouldn't look as dead?

i could definitely see it just being a friend vacation like mimenet said. also, the account that posted it is known for posting every possible rumour under the sun and stirring shit on purpose with fandoms (to keep it gay related, they've done posts with polls asking who tops in haobin and claim that they're a neulbin (term for hao topping, hanbin bottoming and so that haobin themselves don't see nsfw being discussed in korean searches) enthusiast in order to be a troll) so they don't have that much credibility imo, like the twitter screenshot they posted could be someone lying or someone actually seeing them but then implying that they must be dating in order to stir shit

Stanthere is no way to search on OH archive? I want to look up a few names and I'm not going through 3k pages...
No unfortunately OH's search feature was done through their site so it doesn't work anymore. It's just snapshots of the pages not an actually functioning site now.there is no way to search on OH archive? I want to look up a few names and I'm not going through 3k pages...

I do think the anonymity did help on OH's thread, since people wanted to like certain things but not show themselves. It is a double-edged sword though.
I was always curious about people's thoughts on the lyrics for ZB1's Crush?

Seola's MV is technically not queer in context since she's with herself here but... well we all know what it looks like lol
Idk the lyrics feel sort of like a generic sort of one-sided crush thing for the most part that you could ascribe to a lot of different sorts of relationships. Obviously you could place it on top of a one-sided queer crush but you could also just put it on top of any het one-sided crush too. The "yes sir" line is the only one that kind of implies it's intended to be towards a guy I guess but these days people will use sir gender neutrally and it's a sort of gray area of just using metaphor on the face level (as in "yes sir" is just meant to be taken as "I'll follow your command") or whether the lyricist's intention was for the implied gender to also matter. Since crush already has some kind of goofy and clumsy english usage (Gosh!) I wouldn't personally assume there was deeper meaning to it. Do you have a different interpretation? I could definitely just be missing something lol
A lot of kpop songs also use "man" in the way that you'd use "gosh" or "damn" etc. in some pretty inopportune places where from an English speakers perspective it's pretty ambiguous whether it's being used as meaningless expression or as a noun but I don't want to read into it too much since it's probably just iffy from the language barrier. If it's just a song written by some producer and sung by a boy group I think it's pretty easy to write off as unintentional or at worst intentionally baiting for shipper fans. These sorts of slangy expressions are notoriously difficult for non-native english speakers to grasp especially in this case where it's a mostly genderless language (korean) writing in a gendered language (english) that plays fast and loose with that genderedness anyway. I've actually noticed a big uptick in ambiguous "man" usage in kpop but I think it might be due to the influx of demos written in english by native speakers.

I think context matters. Like in Evnne's new song, Ugly, there is a "Yes Sir" line but the songs doesn't have any sort of romantic subtext whereas Crush does. The English in it is a bit goofy (gosh being used to rhyme with crush) but it also makes sense when reading the lyrics. Thus, the lyricist could have just used yes ma'am or a different phrase. Even saying man depends on context. Like there's obviously a difference between "man that's hot" vs "that man is hot" so it's something to look at with the whole song.
I do think that's one nice thing about it lyrically. People were interpreting it as a song about a man singing about having a crush on another guy, and given the context that's a reasonable interpretation. English gets used often in kpop, but if it's opposite gendered no one ever really questions it. Like when boy groups sing about "a girl" or a "beautiful girl" or "the queen" in English, people take it at face value. Same with girl groups singing boy.
The more varied interpretations make songs fun to listen to and can grab more people. EXO's Playboy is another one. Some swear it's about a guy singing to a girl that he's a playboy, but many interpret it also as a guy singing to a guy who is a playboy. And both can be valid interpretations.

Has Chanhee from The Boyz been discussed here before? What is everyone's opinions on him here?
Deobi twitter has been blowing up today because Chanhee talked about wanting to buy a bible for his room because he reads it every night and now everyone is questioning his sexuality.
I know discussions on him being gay were sort of hit or miss on Onehallyu. He's very feminine so a lot of people think he's gay because of that, but I know it was reveled later on that apparently his mom really wanted a girl so when he turned out to be a boy his mom made him only dress as a girl for the beginning part of his life. If I recall the story correctly I think around the time he was hitting puberty he decided he really didn't vibe with it and identified as a boy and cut his hair and started dressing as a boy from then on? So that's why he tends to dress feminine.
He's also said before that he has no intention of getting married and a lot of people think that him not wanting to get married = he's gay?
I find this whole debate people are causing over it very ironic though because his groupmate Kevin is EXTREMELY religious (There's a ton of predebut pictures of him in churches doing church stuff, he has several religious tatoos including that huge one on his arm, he posts bible quotes and stuff a lot, he's sung a bunch of religious song covers, he reads a ton of religious books and posts about them online/in his bubble/ talks about them on his lives, and i could list more) yet no one's ever batted an eye at it?

StanMy two cents on the frenzy is that it's expected, but also misplaced. There are tons and tons of Christian (or religious in general) lgbt people. I think the prevalence of the discrimination the church perpetuates is absolutely a valid argument for why someone LGBT wouldn't want to associate with it, but I also know there are plenty of accepting spaces within it as well. Kevin is as strong a counter as can be found. He's living his best gay life. And that's without going into the idea that gay people aren't always in touch with their sexuality because they've never thought of it as an option or refuse to accept it. Chanhee seems to have some decent people around him, so I'm sure he'll be fine whatever his sexuality and that journey look like.Has Chanhee from The Boyz been discussed here before?
