I'm curious what it is about Jo.
When I saw him it just pinged. I don't think he has any mannerisms or something, or if he does I haven't seen enough of him (granted I've only seen one video)

Is anyone else keeping up with the new group XLOV? All I'm going to say is that I think Shinee's reputation as the group with the highest density of queerness is shaking. Whenever I watch something from them I just think of that saying about SM groups, that any member would be another group's main vocal. Any XLOV member would for sure be another group's main gay.

I am since I stanned the three bp guys and I'm surprised they found Hyun who not only matches their energy but also slays just as much as the others too lmao

Real ones know that Rui/Haru were very much in the Zhang Hao/Sung Hanbin/etc friend group that was very coded during BP, just didn't get as much screentime. I think Rui and Zhang Hao have been friends for a very long time? There were a lot of predebut videos of the two of them.

And Wumuti... the man has a vision. If he somehow is not actually queer then he has earned an honorary place lol I think some people in his position might try to tone the vibes down and pivot to a more general image but he's gone all in and I'm loving that for him.

Hyun had been Wumuti's friend for I think 6+ years by the time he asked him to join XLOV. I don't think it's hard to make an educated guess as to why that would be... haha.

Right, I think it really makes the group special in that respect that it was actually put together by a(n almost certainly) queer guy from among his own friends. There isn't so much the possibility, as there can sometimes be with other groups, that a company is just farming a certain concept for clout or that members are being assigned a more androgynous/feminine image against their will. It's all Wumuti's brainchild, it deals with themes that are meaningful to him personally (I saw something about him saying that he actually drew a manga years ago about a four-member group with XLOV's concept, which, wow), and the members are definitely down with it.

There's also something to be said for how it probably removed some barriers that might have affected them if they'd had a traditional selection and debut process. I actually suspect that the more obviously femme members might have found it harder to debut with a company, at least without having to tone themselves down. And as it is, apart from their own cunty debut song, literally the majority of their performances at the moment are of cunty girl group songs or songs by female artists that make the lyrics gay when they sing them. Like, I truly love this for them.

Hi. I've been lurking on the gay thread since the beginning of 2023 when i found it through boys planet/googling is kim jiwoong gay.

I've been scared to make an account because I'm trans and I know that even other queer ppl can be transphobic and I was worried that these ppl (yall) that I've built up in my head would hate me. I'm also autistic.

And my 3 cats that I got at the end of 2023 were in and out of the vet and my littlest 1 has terminal breast cancer. Also waking up everyday to the reality of the world right now has been hard.

I will post a proper bio later but right now I'm upset so I'm posting a rant. I've spent a lot of time preparing for my debut so I have a lot ready to go btw. Also I mainly use speech to text to write my notes and then edit the mistakes.

This is about cis het fans that use queer slang but aren't real allies and bl fans that hate irl queer ppl.

The reality of right now is you have cishet people commodifing queer culture and stripping us of our rights simultaneously.

Where as before you might have said, "Hey, you know, it's fine that you're saying slay and fierce, as long as we can get married and all that."

But now you have multiple states and countries enacting various anti-trans, anti-gay and anti-drag laws.

People have made it clear that gay marriage is up for debate in the US and that really no queer person has guaranteed rights and there is an increasing rise of hate crimes against queer people worldwide.

So when I see certain cishet people being all like, "Slay queen!" it pisses me off.

Because it's like you're not gonna fucking go vote for at least whatever slightly more liberal party that are on board with queer people still existing, but you're perfectly fine watching a show like Fire Island.

And us being entertainment and dancing monkeys for you.

But you don't see us as real people.

That's what we are for you.

We're dancing monkeys: hilarious, entertaining and fun.

But you would never actually be friends with us.

You would never actually vote for our rights.

You would never say "Oh, that dancing monkey deserves to just be a monkey and not have people constantly viewing it as a form of entertainment."

I'm fine with BL, I'm fine with BL fan service in kpop because it's basically the only mainstream form of representation that Asian/Korean queer men get in these countries.

(Tbc I've been a bl fan since i was 13 so 20 years and I love my kpop girlypops.)

But honestly, I find reality shows about gay men being catty and fighting with each other constantly or just being the best friend of a woman on a reality show to be a worse form of representation, than two probably straight guys pretending to be gay on a show that's actually talking about homophobia like light on me.

Btw since I wrote this on June 5th 2024 Trump has been reelected and there are 9 states calling on the Supreme Court to overturn same sex marriage.

I've been meaning to...

The only other group I can think of is bdc but they disbanded. They were 2 out of 3. Or imfact or ace?

💯 xlov is a fully queer group.

Also a lot sm idols would be another groups main gay too lol. Truly the most queer and neurodivergent company ever.

I remember there was a whole thing about rui and Hao watching every season of produce b4 they went on the show.

Wumuti has so much courage to not only be pretty obvious on BP but also to create a whole genderless/queer group in a homophobic sinophobic country as a gay uyghur Muslim.

Ok, so I finished my "homework" and I'm gonna give a rundown of the most popular bands next and my conclusions. A quick note is that, for some I'll just put the order of likeliness more so than a definite queer or not queer.

BTS: Jimin (I think it is obvious, probably bisexual)> Suga (has said multiple times his type and hasn't shied away from mentioning both genders)> JHope (he's always pinged and these recent videos really make me more confident) > V (he is quite confusing but if I had to guess, and based on all he has done with his music, I think there's a chance he is queer) > Jungkook (same as V, although he could just be a soft man) > RM > Jin (I only put RM before Jin because of his lyrics and emoji man + that interview where he made sure to say "girlfriends or boyfriends". In their case I could sense the queer in all of them, so that's why I ranked them in order of probability. Jin does have certain je ne se quois, but knowing the culture in Korea it could just be that.

SEVENTEEN: Mingyu, Seungkwan, Hoshi

Monsta X: Minhyuk, Wonho

Stray Kids: Felix, Lee Knows, Han

EXO: Xiumin

SHINee: Key

ZE:A: Im Siwan

BigBang: G-Dragon (wishful thinking for Daesung tho)

GOT7: Honestly nobody does it for me. But let me put BamBam only because of that moment with the gorgeous contestant that he couldn't stop admiring, lol

Many groups left and haven't done girlgroups but since I am a man I probably am not the best one to say who is or not for women lol

Stray kids: as a former stay I agree. I would also add maybe Changbin and I.n. only because of that Beomgyu thing.

Hyunjin confuses me and if bang chan is queer at all he's super repressed. Which considering he grew up with both aussie macho lad football culture that's also really racist and Korean being gay isn't even an option culture PLUS a company that kicked out a gay trainee that makes sense.

Also he's definitely on the spectrum and people like me often take until our 20s and 30s to figure our sexuality out.

(Back in the days of the ~early 2000s~ we only had gay or straight or bi. I knew I wasn't straight but lesbian and bi didn't quite fit. Whereas today what works best for me is queer in the polysexual way. And I'm mainly attracted to cis men and amab non binary/gnc people.)

He said that he had a crush on cloud from final fantasy when he was younger.

Seungmin is the only 💯 straight one.

Bts: Jimin, suga and v 💯

Jhope: I can see bi. He had that tinashe cleveage Pic.

Rm: same thing and even the same Pic. The power this woman holds over kpop.

Jungkook token straight.

Jin is also probably straight but he is friends with sandeul and lee yi Kyung. There was also a gay Jin truther back on oh. Lol.

SEVENTEEN: Mingyu

I've seen/heard more evidence of him (and ot4 97 line) being fuckboys and going to straight clubs. I just haven't gotten that 1 clear piece of evidence for him? But I'm not a carat so I haven't watched hours of content. I could see bi though.

Seungkwan, Hoshi 💯

Also Jun, Joshua, Jeonghan. Vernon is most likely bi. the8 pings in Chinese? I don't speak Mandarin but it's like...the sass?

Woozi, scoups and wonwoo: ? I've got something on 1 them in my files.

Dino token straight.

Monsta X: Minhyuk, Wonho 💯

Hyungwon our tea sipping queen for sure. I'd also say kihyun.

Also maybe a few others. I think they might be a majority queer group. I.m. is probably the token straight. (Though him in full drag in their the heirs parody...😍)

EXO: Xiumin💯

Also Baekhyun has said way too much weird shit to be straight. Him and Taeyeon were most likely 2 bi ppl in a straight presenting relationship.

Sehun had that whole chef suke thing and I have a receipt somewhere for suho and that actor.

Kai: bi or straight

Chen and chanyeol are the token straights. And kyungsoo might be one of the few ots guys that's straight in kpop.

SHINee: Key and Taemin and I've seen ppl say Minho is bi and he played a gay character on yumi's cells.

(Couldn't make it past the coming out scene because the FL runs out crying. It made me so mad I rage quit the show. Like this man just gave you the power to get him fired or blackmail him and you're crying because you didn't bother to ask if this was a date?!?!! You're a grown ass woman go cry at home. This is not the time.)

ZE:A: Im Siwan and kwanghee and dong gun and Kevin Kim. All the Kevins are gay!

I'm eventually going to post about them.

BigBang: G-Dragon bi for sure. ( bottoms do it better post + lipstick collection and dressing like your breakfast at Tiffany's obsessed lesbian grandma who has a cat sanutary with her "friend" Ruth.

Ppl used to post about top on oh and I agree. He's also on the spectrum. Most likely untreated adhd. (Sadly)

Taeyang is the straightest man in kpop after Jay Park. And I haven't ever seen anything for Daesung.

GOT7: i think bambam is bi. And Jackson wang is agreed upon as bi (He's also publicly said that he has ADHD).

Also Yugyeom is definitely not straight. He has gay voice and jus2 was gay club music. (It's so good!)

There's a reason the 3 of them are close.

Also Jinyoung is sus/gay. He's toned it down to be a actor.

This thought came courtesy of a kboo article of ppl complaining that all his shows are sad.

Yall ever think that the reason Jinyoung is in so many sad kdramas is because he doesn't want to be in a relationship with the FL for most of the show?

Like there are more shows that have more than just the chaste kiss at the end these days and a show where the main couple get together early would have more love scenes and kissing for him to act out.

He's not with jyp anymore so we can’t blame him and while I know a lot of ifans were excited for GOT7 to come back I don't think their Korean fanbase is that strong these days for him to avoid women for their sake.

@sooat has he ever had to do more than just kiss a girl in a show?

Jb and young jae are probably straight and Mark seems like a alt straight guy (painting his nails and wearing heels). (He also hangs out/associates with too many shitty straight guys to be gay? Like his sister is a married lesbian and his parents are cool with it so it's not like he hanging around these ppl because he feels like he has hide his queerness from them?)
