LurkerWait do you think Lee yi kyung is in a queer category? May I ask why? it’s just the first time I’ve heard this.Bts: Jimin, suga and v
Jhope: I can see bi. He had that tinashe cleveage Pic.
Rm: same thing and even the same Pic. The power this woman holds over kpop.
Jungkook token straight.
Jin is also probably straight but he is friends with sandeul and lee yi Kyung. There was also a gay Jin truther back on oh. Lol.
SEVENTEEN: Mingyu
I've seen/heard more evidence of him (and ot4 97 line) being fuckboys and going to straight clubs. I just haven't gotten that 1 clear piece of evidence for him? But I'm not a carat so I haven't watched hours of content. I could see bi though.
Seungkwan, Hoshi
Also Jun, Joshua, Jeonghan. Vernon is most likely bi. the8 pings in Chinese? I don't speak Mandarin but it's like...the sass?
Woozi, scoups and wonwoo: ? I've got something on 1 them in my files.
Dino token straight.
Monsta X: Minhyuk, Wonho
Hyungwon our tea sipping queen for sure. I'd also say kihyun.
Also maybe a few others. I think they might be a majority queer group. I.m. is probably the token straight. (Though him in full drag in their the heirs parody...)
EXO: Xiumin
Also Baekhyun has said way too much weird shit to be straight. Him and Taeyeon were most likely 2 bi ppl in a straight presenting relationship.
Sehun had that whole chef suke thing and I have a receipt somewhere for suho and that actor.
Kai: bi or straight
Chen and chanyeol are the token straights. And kyungsoo might be one of the few ots guys that's straight in kpop.
SHINee: Key and Taemin and I've seen ppl say Minho is bi and he played a gay character on yumi's cells.
(Couldn't make it past the coming out scene because the FL runs out crying. It made me so mad I rage quit the show. Like this man just gave you the power to get him fired or blackmail him and you're crying because you didn't bother to ask if this was a date?!?!! You're a grown ass woman go cry at home. This is not the time.)
ZE:A: Im Siwan and kwanghee and dong gun and Kevin Kim. All the Kevins are gay!
I'm eventually going to post about them.
BigBang: G-Dragon bi for sure. ( bottoms do it better post + lipstick collection and dressing like your breakfast at Tiffany's obsessed lesbian grandma who has a cat sanutary with her "friend" Ruth.
Ppl used to post about top on oh and I agree. He's also on the spectrum. Most likely untreated adhd. (Sadly)
Taeyang is the straightest man in kpop after Jay Park. And I haven't ever seen anything for Daesung.
GOT7: i think bambam is bi. And Jackson wang is agreed upon as bi (He's also publicly said that he has ADHD).
Also Yugyeom is definitely not straight. He has gay voice and jus2 was gay club music. (It's so good!)
There's a reason the 3 of them are close.
Also Jinyoung is sus/gay. He's toned it down to be a actor.
This thought came courtesy of a kboo article of ppl complaining that all his shows are sad.
Yall ever think that the reason Jinyoung is in so many sad kdramas is because he doesn't want to be in a relationship with the FL for most of the show?
Like there are more shows that have more than just the chaste kiss at the end these days and a show where the main couple get together early would have more love scenes and kissing for him to act out.
He's not with jyp anymore so we can’t blame him and while I know a lot of ifans were excited for GOT7 to come back I don't think their Korean fanbase is that strong these days for him to avoid women for their sake.
@sooat has he ever had to do more than just kiss a girl in a show?
Jb and young jae are probably straight and Mark seems like an alt straight guy (painting his nails and wearing heels). (He also hangs out/associates with too many shitty straight guys to be gay? Like his sister is a married lesbian and his parents are cool with it so it's not like he hanging around these ppl because he feels like he has hide his queerness from them?)
On that note do you have other actors you think are queer?
Regarding Jackson he tone down a lot when Chinese media went through their push against effeminate men.
sooat
Hallyuboowho?@sooat has he ever had to do more than just kiss a girl in a show?
oh I just read everything, so I just saw jinyoung in yumi cells and they kiss, I need to look more to see if he has more kissing scenes in his dramas

Ok. I thought u might have watched some of his shows because you're the thread's resident kdrama expert(?).
@temporarywool Hi and welcome to the thread I hope you stick around! I added those artists you asked for
Minho is very straight but at least his intention and statement about his character in Yumi's Cells is very sweet. I feel very confident saying he is an ally (even though his bromances do tend to sometimes feel like something else lmao especially with Changmin)

Oh honeyyy. I have a whole thing in the works for that man.Wait do you think Lee yi kyung is in a queer category? May I ask why? it’s just the first time I’ve heard this.

Regarding Jackson he tone down a lot when Chinese media went through their push against effeminate men.
Someone mentioned him on here and I did what autistic people do best and went down the rabbit hole.
The main thing is that he was in a gay movie with a gay sex scene starring him back when kbls were but a twinkle in a viki producers eye. (2012)

White Night (2012 film) - Wikipedia
And he did it in defiance of his dad who was LG ceo at the time.
However! He's since done something (the whole thing with that teen actor and winter) that's made me think that he's either:
1) a problematic straight guy who took a gay role to "challenge himself"
2) a problematic bi man
3) a gay man who's been larping as a straight guy for so long he's absorbed the problematicness
I'm still unsure of which.

A lotttt of other actors. I downloaded the pdf for the legendary 2005 xfiles but it's all in hangul. There's one guy that there's a translation for that I'll post.
(When I say that I've been collecting tea for over a year I mean it.)
Yeah that whole thing was so...

I have an alarm set to wake me up at 3:05 a.m. to watch music bank so I got to see got7 perform live and his face for his ending fairy made me cry as a fellow neuroqueer whose struggled with mental health issues.
But there's still receipts on like Tumblr etc.

In terms of actors, I think it is kinda harder to clock since they are not as public as a singer. Still, I think there area few i am certain on: Yoo Ah In, Lee Jung Jae, Jung woo sung, Sandeul, Im Siwan, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong wook, Kang Ha Neul and a couple more I am sure I am forgetting rn

Yes. Collecting is an autistic trait. Lol.
Anyway!
My method (for guys. my gaydar is shit for women) is:
Gay face
Gay voice
Liking queer artists/media
Hobbies
Friend group
Gay rumors
It isn't

Also sooo many of the idols yall talk about here ping. And yes we have our own version of gaydar.

Autistic individuals are more likely to be LGBTQ+
New research from the University of Cambridge suggests that autistic individuals are less likely to identify as heterosexual and more likely to identify with a
Autism and LGBTQ identities - Wikipedia

LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity: the links between neurodivergence and being LGBTQ+
Higher numbers of neurodivergent people are LGBTQIA+ - this article explores the links between neurodiversity and being LGBTQ+.

If he's been in a kdrama/play were there are queer characters/queer coded characters and was he playing them
For example sunoo has a gay face and would get clocked by the most basic of straight people and not in a "All those kpop boys are gay" homophobic way. Like if they passed by him at Walmart they would be still be able to tell.
What I mean by gay face is the way his cheekbones go like down and in towards his nose. It probably has to do with how much testosterone you have which also effects your voice. Higher voice lower testosterone level=more likely to be gay.
Anyway most mainstream actors are straight passing because women have to be able to project their fantasies onto them so they won't have the first 2 but if they have at least 2 of the others then I willing to say there's a high probability.
Yoo Ah In

Lee Jung Jae, Jung woo sung
....where were u like 2 months ago?

Jung Woo Sung's Three-Timing Accusations Go Viral
Actor Jung Woo Sung was recently revealed to have fathered a baby with model Moon Ga Bi. Netizens buzz about his other alleged relationships.

Woo sung is a cheater. And while i do think lee jung jae pings face wise (though some of that could be ps over the years) he's a pos and is dating Im Se Ryung the ex-wife of Samsung heir Lee Jae Yong. I also have a post about him but it's depressing so I'll post that like tomorrow.
Sandeul

Im Siwan

But they're both former idols so you can get a lot of receipts from there.

Getting a separate post. BRB.

He dated Suzy when she was 25 and he was 38.

Suzy’s agency said, “We are just getting to know Lee Dong-wook,” and Lee Dong-wook’s agency also said, “We are just getting to know Suzy.”
Their relationship attracted attention because of their age difference.
The age difference between 38-year-old Lee Dong-wook and 25-year-old Suzy is 13 years. In particular, the age gap between Suzy 's mother and Lee Dong-wook, who are known to be the same age as composer Joo Young-hoon, was 12 years old, drawing greater attention.
Meanwhile, in a past interview with a media outlet, Lee Dong-wook revealed the reason for not dating ahead of his next film, “ Goblin. ” Coincidentally, the time when he acknowledged his relationship with Suzy was ahead of his next film, “ Life ,” so it was about a year and a half ago. The change in state of mind is noteworthy."

Yes I think it's easier when you aren't from a big4 company.
My issue with yumis cells isn't his fault at all! I'm happy he took the role I just hate these writers that always center the straight person in these moments. Like so i married the anti fan was waayyy worse but similar in that there's an underlying this gay man tricked me into liking him thing.

LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity: the links between neurodivergence and being LGBTQ+
Higher numbers of neurodivergent people are LGBTQIA+ - this article explores the links between neurodiversity and being LGBTQ+.www.thebraincharity.org.uk

Jung Woo Sung's Three-Timing Accusations Go Viral
Actor Jung Woo Sung was recently revealed to have fathered a baby with model Moon Ga Bi. Netizens buzz about his other alleged relationships.www.koreaboo.com

Actor Gong Yoo’s Political Remarks Come Under Heavy Scrutiny
The actor's past comments about admiring President Park Chung Hee has stirred up some new controversies.www.koreaboo.com
Lee Dong wook
He dated Suzy when she was 25 and he was 38.
"2018 On March 9 , he admitted to dating Suzy , a singer and actress from Miss A who is 13 years younger than him .
The change in state of mind is noteworthy."
this just barely passes the Leo Dicaprio test.
(person over at minimum 6 years over 25 dating some under 25. Like 24 and 26 ok. 24 and 28 sure. 24 and 33...especially when it's actors and the older person could further your career...like I don't think ppl between 18 (korea 19) and 25 are babies but older men want you because u have low self esteem and haven't been taught how to stand up for yourself and demand to be treated with respect. If u think about it sex Ed might be bad on purpose.
And the whole women reach they're peak at 40 and men at 20 so it's OK to sleep with someone young enough to be your son thing is bs. Like yes men...can lose stamina over the years but for women it's because you've had enough bad experiences by then that you've finally figured out what u like.)
him being closer to her mom in age just makes it worse.
2003 On October 20th , dating rumors broke out with actor Oh Soo-min of the same age . According to the article , they appeared together in the KBS 2TV drama School 3 in 2000 and felt good about each other, and they have been dating for 4 years already. 2003 On November 13 , it was reported that the couple, who had been in the spotlight after four years of dating was revealed, had broken up. # Oh Soo-min met with the reporter and said, "Recently, we decided to break up. After seeing each other for a long time, we naturally grew distant from each other. Particularly, as Dong-wook became busy, the number of meetings decreased. It was painful, but it was judged that it was a path for each other. I did," he said himself. He also suggested that the recent reports of their dating had an impact on their breakup. "In fact, the article about our meeting had a significant impact. Before that article came out, we had already had fewer meetings, quarreling, and entering a cooling phase, but the report made it even more awkward," he said. In the future, I hope to meet a woman who is more wonderful than me and be happy.”
In addition to this, there were dating rumors with Shu , Lee Da-hae , and Kim Hyun- joo, but he denied all of them. Along with public dating, interviews about public dating in the past also drew attention.
He's also friends with pos r*pist lee jin wook.
He is close with Kim Ji-seok , Lee Dong-wook , and Park Hyo-shin , all of the same age. After the contract with the existing agency ended, he stayed at Glove Entertainment, Park Hyo-shin 's agency, until he moved to BH Entertainment , the actor 's agency.
But he was supportive of the protests...so like gee I guess that's nice that you're not a traitor

[theqoo] ACTOR LEE DONGWOOK'S BUBBLE
We translate Pann articles about Korean news, music, drama and lifestylewww.pannchoa.com
They could both be bi but I think they ship themselves for money.
I think to me it is pretty noticeable in all of those I mentioned because you don't reach your 40s and say "im too lazy to date" if you are straight. I get the culture of SK and the expectations for public figures there are ridiculous but how long can you keep that facade and the image of a single man for women to swoon and fantasize? At one point you gotta put yourself first and stop pandering. Also, their energy and gestures and the way they carry themselves is not what straight people would. Like, controversies and personalities aside, LJJ in my eyes is not a straight man. Like you compare him to LBH or PHS and it is crystal clear that the way they carry themselves is different to him. Of course this is 100% especulation and a lot of stereotypes at play but he just pings. Add to that that he is in his 50s, never married and not kids and his longest relationship has been with JWS (who to me is as bi as it comes). I've talked with fans of them and the amount of info and tea there is over the years with those two is wild.
If I had to rank the actors I mentioned like I did for BTS: Yoo Ah In, Im Siwan, Gong Yoo, Sandeul, Lee Jung Jae, Kang Haneul, Lee Dongwook, Jung woo sung.
First two are just very obvious. Like I said Gong Yoo, for a gay person may be more clockable and he pulls a convincing straight image in general. Sandeul is someone who you may not think he is but if you stop and think it becomes clear. LJJ I said it before. Kang Haneul has that aura that a gay theater kid has, even tho he is not as obvious with it (he does ping though). LDW reminds me of my gay uncle in the sense that he has that energy of single boojie gay. JWS is stereotypical bi.
If anyone has any other contenders feel free to post about it lol

Lurkerjust while someone mentions older Korean idol/ actors I remind people of Kim Jaeduck and Tony Ahn.
Not anymore, but from 2012(?) to a couple of years ago they lived together. Jaeduck specifically mentioned not wanting to date explaining being with Tony fulfilled that need.
They were sweet for a long time with Tony saying the best things to happen in his life was joining H.O.T, and meeting Jaeduck.
One of my favourite arcs has been Tony’s mom over the years. Tony was one of the first men on My Ugly duckling, his mother is still on it. She was very vocal on the show about getting him married and actually set him up on dates, that were awkward. Like a year ago someone on the show was worried about their unmarried son and she said all she cared about was Tony being happy no matter how it looked. A total 180 and sweet moment.
Watching two well off adult men try to explain to others why they bought and renovated a home together where they raised two dogs was interesting. Watching them having to constantly listen to people tell them to live separately even after they explained how happy they were was kinda sad at times.
It sucks not many people bring them up because of how obvious they seem to me. But, then again they are first gen idols.

Same.yeah, sometimes I just want to watch something light that won't stress me out, recently I finished 'seoul busters' and it was so fun and entertaining
I mainly watch bls and cringey idol web shows.
I've liked stuff from playlist global.
I've recently gotten into watching super cringey short form cdramas like historical ones.
Or ones where a person from the modern day time travels back to the past or into a video game or a show or a webtoon that's historical.
Because then it can critique the genre.
question:
have you ever watched the cringe everyone in the group is in it boyband idol dramas from third Gen like Exo next door?
Also have you seen check in hanyang?
I decided to stop watching check in hanyang after the first episode because the mcs both watched their father and uncle exit as kids and even if you shoot it a certain way that's still traumatic for them.
Also now that I'm a mom of three cats anything with kids getting hurt/etc is a big nope for me. I stopped watching anything violent at the start of 2023 and really thought that show was going to be bl cross dressing shenanigans at a hotel from the summary.

I ult infinite by default?
They were the 1st group I liked back in 2011. I liked infinite h and dong woo. He was the closest thing I had to an oppa back then. He can absolutely still get it.
Also the boyz. Mainly 4 queer line and Eric.
Solo/actors: Lee Joon and Jaejoong.
Boys planet fan. Casual ish with a few of the group's that came out of it. One pact, xlov, evnne and zerobaseone.
Everyone else is varying levels of "here for the music" and "listen/watch content because gay".

Pannchoa girls are some the most ableist transphobic homophobic misandrist people you will ever meet but they give 0 shits about posting tea/rumors. Whereas everyone on reddit clutches their pearls at the idea of talking about queer idols even on kpop uncensored.
Pannchoa is like a sketchy bar complete with armys having a bar fight with sm fans/fans of other hybe groups/tokkis and other ppl just trolling that you go to to meet a contact.
Seriously. A lot of people shit on kboo and they are the buzzfeed of kpop and they do post other people's mean comments sometimes but the difference between them and pannchoa is like the difference between second hand smoke and shooting chewing tobacco directly into your veins.
I make a point of not checking the news all the time so I seriously think one of the reasons my mental health waned last year was from seeing all that shit.

Wasn't sure if I should bring up the late Jonghyun...Thank you!
But yes. He was 1 of us.
