The first time I woke up, tears streamed down.
The second time I woke up, my chest ached.
The third time I woke up, “Romantic Escape” started playing in my head.

Oh, how much I love it...

I was so happy to be a part of Seireki13ya.
The step I took forward back then was not a mistake.

I will never forget how Komo-chan, Urari, and Minai-chan performed this magical concert in costumes I made and on a stage I decorated.

Thank you for lighting up my life with a brilliantly shining star.
Every moment related to Seireki13ya was a treasure to me.

In addition to the Yowa Minai's photobook, which I’ve already told you about, Yui Urari's picture book, announced earlier in the summer, was also available for purchase on the day of the group’s disbandment.

Moreover, the newcomers' solo songs (though it’s hard to call them newcomers anymore, given their tenure in the group) were suddenly released: Urari's Yumenaka (Music: HyperVideo2, Lyrics: GEESHIRUI) and Minai's Marble Mu- (Music: syva, Lyrics: GEESHIRUI) appeared on streaming platforms.

And I’ve already translated them:

Later, the production of a Blu-ray of Seireki13ya’s final performance was announced.

On December 17, a livestream featuring Nobuhide Imamura, Nene Komochi, and Fukumoto Emi took place. They discussed the group’s final show, various related topics, and even showcased a fully edited video of the performance of “Night Merry,” which will be included in the upcoming Blu-ray. As of December 30, the video is still available to watch. Pre-orders for the disc were also open during the stream.

According to information from the stream, the Blu-ray is scheduled for release in spring (March or April). It won’t be available for regular sale, so if you want to purchase it, don’t miss the opportunity when sales reopen.

I also plan to translate certain parts of this livestream in the future.

Unexpectedly, the debut of the new iteration of KAQRIYOTERROR happened earlier than expected.

First of all, the group changed its name to 幽世脅嚇, which translates to “Threat/Intimidation from the Otherworld” but is still read as “KAQRIYOTERROR” (thus, the international name remains unchanged).

10.jpg

Now, about their debut. It took place on December 22 during a codomomental Christmas event.

The group’s lineup includes:

Higaminari Yuichiomi (Not Secured, Loose Ends)

11.jpg

Tademaru Ichiren (USOTSUKINAISHO)

12.jpg

Tsukumo Romi (futatsuna)

13.jpg

On December 29, codomomental held its annual year-end event. It featured performances by Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, Not Secured, Loose Ends, futatsuna, USOTSUKINAISHO, USHIMITSU, été, KAQRIYOTERROR, and...

MAOA2R.

14.jpg

Yes, the very band where Mashiro once served as the vocalist. However, her place has now been taken by...

Nene Komochi.

According to fans, a total of three songs were performed, all of which were new.

At this time, there is still no official information about the band’s revival, so all of the above comes from attendees.

Interestingly, MAOA2R and KAQRIYOTERROR were not listed in the original announcement of this event. Instead, three “secret guests” were mentioned. You’re probably curious about the third secret guest, but unfortunately, their performance was canceled.

A New Year’s event was also announced, which will again take place offline this year. The performers will include Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, Not Secured, Loose Ends, futatsuna, USOTSUKINAISHO, USHIMITSU, and two unnamed groups, which are most likely KAQRIYOTERROR and MAOA2R.

16.jpg

Another special event will take place on January 14 — this time in honor of Fukumoto Emi’s birthday. It will feature performances by Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, USOTSUKINAISHO, and Nene Komochi (presumably as a solo act).

On November 27, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da released their new single, “coyubi” (“Pinky”).

As with the previous single, “Lotus Flower Cosmetics,” the digital version of the release only contains the lead track, while the physical edition also includes two older songs re-recorded with the current lineup (this time, “BokuTabetaMouKimiNoSubeteWo” and “Misfit Lovers”).

Summarizing the credo: stake your pinky on it.
The concept of “coyubi.”

The pinky finger — a symbol of promise originating from the song “MudaiGasshou” and stretching over many years of the group’s existence, when the girls, alongside their fans, aimed for a Zenbu Kimi no Sei da performance at the Budokan, sealing a firm promise with their pinkies.

I'm becoming more and more excited about creating the new “Zenkimi.” And so, from now on, it’s no longer just a pinky promise; now it’s about staking your pinky!
A pinky promise is an image we’ve cherished all this time, but now I ask all of you to stake your pinky! Because we are staking ours. And I know the "patients" are staking theirs as well. Of course, I know that—if I didn’t, I couldn’t say this.
Nobuhide Imamura during a recent stream.

I’ve poured my feelings into this pinky so many times—it’s uncountable. And I’m sure I’ll keep saying this in the future: “Let’s seal it with our pinkies” (“Kono Yubi Tomare” — from the lyrics of “MudaiGasshou”).
Is there something in your life that you’ve staked everything on?
Have you ever directed your feelings towards something, pinned your hopes on it?
Whatever it may be, your pinky belongs to me.
This pinky that has sealed thousands of promises... I’ve really staked my entire life on it—that’s what I think every time I listen to this important song. I can’t wait to perform it live and have fun with the “patients” while throwing in some playful energy.
From Kisaragi Megumi’s Twitter.

This is a song filled with "Zenkimi’s" signature poisonous love, and the voices of us five, who stake our lives on this place; it so pleasant to listen to.
I can’t wait to have fun performing it live (`・ω・´)
Please listen to it a lot and keep loving "Zenkimi"!
From Mei Yui Mei’s Twitter.

I’ve always staked my life on my love for singing, and that surely won’t change in the future 💭
From Nene Komochi’s Twitter.

This is a song brimming with words and expressions in the style of Zenbu Kimi no Sei da 🫧
I’ve loved it ever since I first heard it 🩵

Please give it a listen too—may these words and voices reach you (˶'ᵕ '˶)
From Muku’s Twitter.

Overflowing passionate feelings, love, and determination.
A pinky — it's so "Zenkimi" ✊🏻!
We’ve gained yet another important song to fully enjoy ourselves to (っᴖ˛ᴖc)🔆

I can’t wait to have fun with you all performing it live.
From Hino Hikari’s Twitter.

Below, you can find my translation of the song. Please note that the original lyrics are extremely complex and abstract, so I’m not entirely confident that I translated everything correctly (although I believe the main themes of the song are relatively easy to understand). If any clarifications from the authors appear in the future, I’ll do my best to update the translation accordingly.

On the 25th, the second of the promised monthly “Zenkimi” releases, “MemaiPoem,” was released. If you don’t mind, I’d like to talk about it next time.

Both futatsuna and USOTSUKINAISHO have announced that they are continuing to recruit new members.

TOKYO TEFUTEFU is actively promoting the final concert of their current tour, during which the group will celebrate their fourth anniversary (which will take place on December 31st). As part of this, the members have recorded a series of short videos in which they answer rapid-fire questions, introducing themselves to a new audience. They’ve done this before, and I even translated it, but I haven't left this new series of videos untranslated either:

The first Mary Lust's photobook, titled “Märchen Venom,” has been announced and is set for release in March 2025.

On December 12, a livestream in support of the project was held, where fans could pre-order the book along with various bonuses depending on the amount spent. A few interesting details (not just about the photobook, but also about TOKYO TEFUTEFU’s activities):
  • This photobook will be in the dark fantasy genre. Accordingly, the production of such a book is by no means a cheap endeavor, so it was decided to rely on fan support. It’s claimed that there will be no compromises in terms of quality.
  • The ever-present Tademaru Ichiren will be assisting with the project. Apparently, she also helped with the production of Yowa Minai's photobook. According to Nobuhide Imamura, he used to entrust such responsibilities to Kisaragi Megumi, however, with the creation of NSLE, her workload increased, and given Ichiren's truly unprecedented workaholic nature, the leader of USOTSUKINAISHO now manages these tasks as well.
  • The director says he plans to go big with TOKYO TEFUTEFU next year.
  • At the anniversary concert, the group will perform a new song.
  • A super important announcement is expected at the same show.
Shortly afterward, samples of the upcoming photobook became available.

Chimura Shifumi has recorded another vocal cover:

On December 18, a six-hour livestream was held where Nobuhide Imamura and Takaki Kenta, together with all the current members of codomomental groups (except USHIMITSU), reflected on the past year and discussed many interesting topics. I’ve compiled the most noteworthy facts:
  • The director noted that the company has always been known for its extraordinarily rapid pace of work (the frequency of releases alone speaks volumes). And although he initially planned to slow down after Zenbu Kimi no Sei da's landmark Budokan performance, he acknowledges that 2023 still turned out to be very hectic. The second time he thought about easing his pace was at the beginning of 2024, when he was diagnosed with advanced-stage diabetes—so severe that doctors told him he wouldn’t survive without hospitalization. However, he couldn’t afford to abandon his responsibilities and eventually managed to pull through the critical stage of the illness without being hospitalized. At that time, he was also diagnosed with serious liver problems, hypertension, and something else that Imamura-san somehow managed to forget. Even so, he notes that 2024 also turned out to be very dynamic despite his active fight against illnesses and his need to maintain a low blood sugar state, which is far from conducive to high activity levels.
  • Hino Hikari mentioned that, from the very beginning of her time with Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, she wasn’t confident enough in her singing and dancing skills—she felt powerless compared to her senpais. However, she has recently gained more self-confidence. This turning point came during her work on learning “Irozuku Signal,” which she found particularly challenging. After a significant amount of practice, she overcame her struggles and became convinced that, with enough effort, she could handle difficult tasks. The root of these issues also lay in her shyness. The more she overthought things, the worse her performance became (as those around her often pointed out). She realized that by stopping the overthinking, she could tackle challenges more effectively, which helped her solidify this mindset. The first half of the year was a period of intense internal struggles for her, but by the end of YMKWII CHINURU TOUR—around late August—she began to grasp the direction she should take. At first, she was overly focused on avoiding mistakes (a reflection of her tendency to show off), but as she spent time with the other members, she realized that even if she made a mistake, the others would somehow cover for her. Overall, although she still has some self-confidence issues, she doesn't feel that she's struggling with "Zenkimi" activities now. Nobuhide Imamura also noted her growth and remarked that she had become interesting.
  • Hikari had already been an idol before joining "Zenkimi."
  • As has been mentioned several times before, Muku was a fan of Zenbu Kimi no Sei da from the group’s early days. Her favorite member back then was Aza.
  • Imamura-san noted that Muku was also initially afraid to open up and was “uninteresting.” She focused solely on singing and dancing, which, however, were at a very high level from the start. Over the course of the tour, she gradually began to reveal a more interesting side of herself. Among her drawbacks, the director mentioned that her “batteries run out quickly,” and she frequently wants to eat or sleep. In such states, she even occasionally forgets to use polite language when talking to staff. Since she enjoys video games, one might assume she stays up late, but according to her, even after getting plenty of sleep, she still feels sleepy.
  • Muku claims that life in "Zenkimi" outside the stage turned out to be almost exactly as she imagined it as a fan of the group. She was prepared for how "gym-like" it would be, and it didn't bother her at all. As is well-known, singing and dancing are just the tip of the iceberg, and idol activities involve a lot of other work. The director points out that she is very hardworking—she takes on various tasks and handles them successfully, even down to the smallest details. Imamura-san states that while he always leaves overall responsibility for tasks to Megumi, he prefers to entrust the small details to Muku. According to him, Muku and Kagari Kohaku Sekai are Megumi’s left and right hands. And although the others also work hard, Muku’s ability to handle a wide variety of tasks without issues is definitely outstanding. For example, Hikari is very serious and therefore very diligently approaches her assigned tasks, but she tends to be clumsy and often misses deadlines or forgets things. Muku, on the other hand, can successfully complete tasks without such shortcomings.
  • Apparently, Muku was a member of more than one idol group in the past.
  • The name “Muku” means “purity” or “innocence,” but according to Muku herself, she’s not all that innocent. The director describes this as a result of her clever and cunning nature. While she usually appears to be an ordinary girl, he remarks that “if you dig just a little deeper, she turns out to be a completely different person,” and “there are certain reckless traits in her.” Nevertheless, she is now fully accustomed to this name.
  • Hikari, whose name translates to “sunlight,” also initially struggled to get used to her name because she felt she “didn't shine that much.”
  • In general, Imamura-san comes up with idol names spontaneously.
  • According to the director, if Yuzuriha Ouhi were to join Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, her member color would be “muscle color.”
  • One (though not the only) reason Hikari was selected to join "Zenkimi" was the desire to have a very serious member in the group. According to Megumi, although Hikari, like many other newcomers, initially struggled to adapt to the group’s activities and workload, she didn’t break down, and now this serious nature of hers is manifesting in a very positive way.
  • According to Nene Komochi, Urari once mentioned that if “Seireki” didn't exist, she would have joined USOTSUKINAISHO. However, the director doubted that her delicate nature would fit the group’s concept, which centers on love so intense it makes you want to lie.
  • Mei Yui Mei said that after Zenbu Kimi no Sei da went on hiatus, she got tired of resting within the first two weeks (which is why she continued to be active in codomomental even before NSLE was formed). Although, as she herself says, she loves weekends, it seems that’s only true when she’s been working during the week.
  • Komochi noted that during "Zenkimi's" hiatus period, there were several times when she deeply missed Mei. They had been close even before Komochi joined Zenbu Kimi no Sei da. This bond began during a period when Komochi was the only remaining member of Seireki13ya and performed solo—a very hard time for her. During that time, Mei invited her to dinner at her home, where she was able to pour her heart out. Before this, they hadn’t spoken much. According to Mei, she was moved to tears by Komochi’s solo performance and became concerned about her after seeing how much sadness she radiated on stage and how thin she had become. And this really saved Komochi during that time.
  • Mei and Komochi are also surprisingly similar in that they are both shorties. They also have similar taste in sweets.
  • Adding Chimura Shifumi to this group of shorties (who is about the same height as Mei, while Komochi is famously the shortest idol in the agency), there’s another unexpected similarity—they are all very skilled singers and incredibly proud of their vocals. Although, according to Mei herself, she is currently much prouder of her screaming than her clean singing.
  • Initially, Imamura-san planned to release a full Zenbu Kimi no Sei da album this year. However, as he was exploring what the new "Zenkimi" should be, he leaned toward releasing singles instead. He emphasizes that the old Zenbu Kimi no Sei da concluded on the fateful stage of Budokan, and the new one still needs to be built (as Megumi has repeatedly said, they approached the group’s return as though starting from scratch). At the time of working on “coyubi,” he was still searching for the group’s new direction. However, after finishing work on “MemaiPoem,” he received an unexpected message from Megumi (something that doesn’t usually happen at such times), saying that she really loved the song, and that's when the puzzle pieces fell into place—he realized he was on the right track. Now, he is very excited to continuing this process, discovering and revealing the interesting traits of the new "Zenkimi." In this, he also relies on the shared desire among Megumi, Mei, and Komochi to "laugh together again," as they decided together to continue Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, intending to create a fun space for everyone, as free as possible from the heavy moments that accompanied the group's activities previously. Ultimately, the director’s goal is to "immerse everyone once again in the fascinating world of "Zenkimi."
  • The YMKWII CHINURU TOUR turned out to be a challenging experience for Zenbu Kimi no Sei da.
Mei Yui Mei: CHINURU TOUR, from May to September, was tough. There were hardly any people.
On the first day of the tour, you, Omegu, were even crying out of sadness, weren’t you? Even during your speech. I’ll never forget that.

Nobuhide Imamura: But having decided to start everything from scratch, you persevered all the way to the final show at Shinjuku MARZ, where you nearly sold out the tickets—that’s what makes you fascinating. Others might have given up.

Mei Yui Mei: But still, I...

Kisaragi Megumi: Got depressed?

Mei Yui Mei: Depressed, or maybe... Omegu, don’t people constantly say these things to you? Like, you should’ve ended everything at Budokan?

Kisaragi Megumi: They do.

Mei Yui Mei: Like, "Kote-chan left, so I thought you would too," or "You performed at Budokan, so what’s the point of continuing?" Throughout this tour, people kept saying things like that to me, and I started doubting myself: "Why did I stay?" I sort of forgot the reason.
And at the Shinjuku MARZ show, I finally remembered. At Shinjuku MARZ and, for example, in Niigata… In the provinces, lots of people came to see us. And I realized that there are still people who are waiting for us. That I love performing on stage, and that’s why I stayed. Usually, I always realized this. I don't even know where it went then.
  • After Tokanai Nonno left, the director asked the members of TOKYO TEFUTEFU whether they wanted a new member in the group. "Everyone responded a bit differently, but their answers could be summarized as: they’re fine with just the four of them." Imamura-san also considers the current lineup self-sufficient, though he acknowledges the downside that all the group’s members have been there since the beginning, and no newcomers have ever joined. He notes that the "Tefutefu" lineup has become so stable that there’s no new chemistry pushing the girls to change.
  • As I mentioned earlier, TOKYO TEFUTEFU is set to perform a new song at their upcoming anniversary concert. According to the director, while creating it, he aimed to surpass "Eve of the Revolution" (Kakumei Zen’ya)—an important song from Zenbu Kimi no Sei da’s repertoire that embodies the group’s determination to move forward during their pivotal moments. While working on this song, he wasn’t concerned about aligning it with trends—he said it’s "enough if only the members and 'Mirages' listen to it." He also approached its creation with such strong emotions that he declared, "If someone says they hate this song, I’ll quit—I’ll say, 'Thanks, everyone,' and leave." Considering that "Eve of the Revolution" was written ahead of an especially significant "Zenkimi" concert at Zepp Tokyo, and given Imamura-san’s statement that he plans to focus heavily on "Tefutefu" next year (which, according to him, will be very challenging and dizzying), it’s likely that the group will announce a concert at a large venue during their anniversary show. Either way, their repertoire will soon include a very important song.
  • The director acknowledged the efforts of Tsukumo "St.Lightning Beast" Romi, who, throughout the year, continued to face various challenges and grow despite the constant departures of members. However, he also pointed out her shortcomings, describing her as both simple-minded and a troublemaker.
Nobuhide Imamura: We use the same bank for business and pay salaries into its accounts. But when it comes to transfers to other banks, there’s a commission of about 1,000 yen. And, as anyone in business knows, if you’re making many such transfers, it can amount to 50,000 or 60,000 yen a month in fees. That’s a problem. And though it’s been a year since she joined, she only recently opened an account with our bank. When I asked her why, it turned out she lacked the necessary documents. All this time, she had been avoiding dealing with them. That’s her tendency—to avoid unpleasant tasks. That’s unacceptable. So I told her, "I understand, but you must go." And she went. She came back and said, "I didn’t have this or that, so I couldn’t open an account." The next time she went, she said, "They were already closed." That’s typical troublemaker behavior. Shifumi is like that too. I’ll ask her, "Did you go to the hospital?" and she’ll say, "No, because of this or that." And Komochi too. "Did you go to the hospital?"—"No!" This whole year, I’ve been thinking about how to deal with this troublemaker nature of hers, but surprisingly, she’s started to change recently.
  • Reflecting on her past activities, Tsukumo noted that she hadn't given it her all at the time.
Tsukumo "St.Lightning Beast" Romi: I wanted to try my best, but, how should I put it... I didn’t want to stand out from the group. I thought, if everyone thinks this way, and I do something different, they’ll dislike me. So I ended up going along with the flow because it was easier. But I couldn’t live like that, so now, clenching my fists, I’m trying to change. And I’m still in the process.
  • futatsuna received an exceptionally well reception in Shanghai.
  • According to the director, Higaminari Yuchiomi shares similar shortcomings with Tsukumo. She often loses things and lacks attentiveness. However, he also noted that she has recently shown growth in this area. Another flaw of hers is that she’s unaccustomed to routine work and tends to slack off—something she acknowledges and is working on.
  • The director stated that Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, Not Secured, Loose Ends, futatsuna, USOTSUKINAISHO, and USHIMITSU "will become more interesting."
In addition to all this, there were many intriguing and profound conversations, which I probably won’t be able to fully translate. However, I’ll do my best to translate some particularly interesting points from this stream later.

During the livestream celebrating the group’s anniversary, Not Secured, Loose Ends announced that their upcoming single, "VanilLament," which had previously been postponed indefinitely, is now scheduled for release on February 5.

I translated the second part of GESSHIRUI's article from the "New Generation" series, where the lyricist talks about the members who have relatively recently joined codomomental:

“80% of those who want to become idols are unable to handle the simplest tasks.”

I’m deeply worried about Typhoon No. 10. It seems like many places have already been affected, and the thought that it could soon reach the Kanto region, where I am, fills me with fear. I urge everyone to avoid unnecessary outings and to pay close attention to their safety. Please, be cautious.

So, today, I’d like to write the second part of the “New Generation” article. I actually planned to write it yesterday, but it didn’t work out, so at last, I’m able to do it today. I’m excited myself to see who I’ll write about. In the previous part, I wrote about Higaminari Yuchiomi (NSLE) and Tsukumo “St. Lightning Beast” Romi (English translation). If you’re interested, I’d be happy if you check it out if you haven’t read it yet.

There’s also the article “Leaders,” (English translation) which inspired me to write this one. In it, I talked about the leaders of our groups. I hoped it might alleviate, even slightly, the burden of unfairness that leaders face, as it’s clear how tough it is for them even from an outside perspective. I’d be glad if you gave that article a read as well.

Now then, let’s get into the main part of today’s text. I’ve decided! Today, I want to write about Muku, the bubbles-colored member, and Hino Hikari, the sunset-colored member, from Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, who recently had to postpone their concerts in Fukuoka and Yamaguchi. I’ll also write about Yowa Minai from Seireki13ya. As usual, I’ll be talking about each member from my personal perspective, so I ask that only those truly interested proceed to read further.
In the continuation, you will learn about GESSHIRUI's first impressions of Yowa Minai, Muku, and Hino Hikari, and how they compare to his current impressions. You will also discover interesting and amusing characteristics of the girls, the circumstances of their joining their respective groups, their growth progress, the challenges they face, intriguing behind-the-scenes details, as well as the observations of the lyricist on the trends affecting people who want to become idols these days.

If you want to read the continuation, follow these steps:
  1. Follow this link and purchase the original article (¥300, approximately $2). The site accepts PayPal and foreign cards.
  2. Copy the last three paragraphs from the paid section of the article.
  3. Go to this site and paste the copied text into the text field. Click the "hash darling, hash!" button.
  4. Below the text "You are awesome! Here is your MD5 checksum:" a password will appear. Copy it.
  5. Use it on this page.
This is the last bulletin of the year. Over the course of the year, 18 bulletins were released, 19 videos totaling about 7 hours were translated, 31 color-coded lyrics videos were created, 2 major interviews were translated, as well as 5 large articles from GESSHIRUI's blog—there was some content released nearly every week, so I believe this was a very productive year. I hope I managed to improve the quality of my work, but at the very least, I developed highly efficient workflows for both video and text translations, as well as created several programs to automate routine tasks I frequently encounter in the process, which allowed me to save a significant amount of time and effort. I hope to release plenty of interesting content next year as well (a little secret: I’m currently working on subtitles for videos totaling over 9 hours), but for now, I wish everyone a happy New Year!

If you like what I do and want to support me, you can do so on Ko-fi.

I like people who write exhausting texts, but I also like honest, strong, yet fragile people, and that's why I like the books of Yukio Mishima.

When I was asked why I love books, I thought about it and realized that perhaps it’s because books don’t let you feel lonely—I think that’s why I’ve loved reading them for so long.
On the one hand, they give you a sense of closeness, but they eventually come to an end, and that’s why I’ve always loved books.

Words that may seem insignificant to others can stay in your heart forever, the feeling of how such days come to an end... In short, I just love books.
The same feelings come to me from an evening bus, the smell after a winter rain...

Suddenly, but I’m going to sleep now, good night.

Can my hand enfold you, embracing your dismay, and swallow your pain, with a word of love?

And also...
This is my literal translation of the original song - "Wish/" by Yukueshirezutsurezure.
Naturally, it differs from the official poetic translation, so I think that by familiarizing yourself with both versions, you'll be able to feel the song more deeply.

On December 31, the codomomental New Year's event took place, where, I remind you, two "secret guests" were initially announced to perform. In the previous bulletin, I speculated that these would be KAQRIYOTERROR and MAOA2R, and I was right about the first one, however, the performance of the second secret guest was canceled. Apparently, it was supposed to be the same secret guest whose performance was planned for the event on December 29 but was also canceled.

Speaking of MAOA2R... The new iteration of the group has changed the stylization of its name—it is now MAOAⅡA, but its Japanese pronunciation remains the same ("maoenia").

The event also featured special themed units formed from members of different groups, each performing a few cover songs:

2-scaled.jpg

Chibi Chibi Chibi ("Shorties, Shorties, Shorties").

3-scaled.jpg

UTA ("Song").

4.jpg

Kinniku Massuru ("Muscle Muscles").

5-scaled.jpg

Musume-san ga Issho ("Daughters Together"), which consists of two subunits: Okaa-san to Issho ("Together with Mom") and Otou-san to Issho ("Together with Dad").

On January 14, a birthday event for Fukumoto Emi took place. It featured performances by Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, Nene Komochi (solo), and USOTSUKINAISHO. Notably, especially for this day, Fukumoto-san prepared exclusive costumes for all the performers:

Moreover, Komochi had two different costumes prepared: one for her performance with "Zenkimi" and another for her solo performance.

As for the solo performance itself, she performed her solo song — "I'll treasure this."

On December 25, the second of the three promised monthly releases by Zenbu Kimi no Sei da—"MemaiPoem"—was released, and I even managed to translate its lead track:

Tough, tough, tough, tough, tough, tough...
For so long now. No matter where I am, no matter what I do,
All that keeps overflowing inside me are these heavy feelings for you.
The release concept, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

The word "Memai" translates to "Dizziness," but the song's title has a very unusual spelling, where the kanji for "Blindness" is inserted between the characters of "Memai," so it could be interpreted as something like "A Poem of Blinding Dizziness."

The music for "MemaiPoem" was composed by yowanecity (who wrote "rinbu" and "MusyokuToumeiNi" for TOKYO TEFUTEFU), while the lyrics were written by GESSHIRUI.

The physical release also includes "Sophomore Sick Sacrifice" and "MudaiGasshou" re-recorded with the current lineup.

The inherent venomousness of "Zenkimi," the days we spent together with "Patients," and the present—this is what we sing about in this song together.
I sing it while cherishing every single line.
A song with rapidly shifting expressions.
Sometimes it's about the inability to be truly honest, and sometimes it suddenly conveys feelings with complete honesty.
And yet, what we are trying to express remains unchanged. I hope you will listen to this song often!
From Kisaragi Megumi's Twitter.

The characteristic rhythm of "Zenkimi" and the venomous love lyrics—I can already picture you guys going wild to it at concerts (`・ω・´)
I want you to listen to it often!
From Mei Yui Mei's Twitter.

A song you can both have fun with and cry to—pure "Zenkimi" spirit at full blast💭
From Nene Komochi's Twitter.

There are so~ many great lines in the lyrics that I can relate to, and the music keeps changing, making it so much fun❕

This song is exciting both when you listen to it and when you sing it, and I love it so much ૮ ⸝⸝ʚ̴̶̷̷ ‧̫ ʚ̴̶̷̷⸝⸝ ა
From Muku's Twitter.

Rhythmic music and lyrics in the spirit of "Zenkimi."
It feels like you can sense both our present and future in it—I hope you listen to it often🎶
Devour it completely.
From Hino Hikari's Twitter.

On January 29, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da released "Sleeping Dirty," the final installment of their series of monthly singles. And I’ve already translated its lead track as well:

Just accept it completely.
I look at you with a pure heart, so please, let me stay in this endless dream.
Until we find an answer for the two of us, not just for one.
The concept of the release, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

A song where fierceness takes a back seat to the heartfelt power of emotions and the strength of the heart.
From the group's official Twitter.

The music for "Sleeping Dirty" was composed by DAIKI (AWSM, ex-Made in Me.), who wrote most of the songs on TOKYO TEFUTEFU's latest EP "IIIIly" ("can you hear 'A' me", "Nil∴", and "eclipse"), while the lyrics were written by Nobuhide Imamura.

The physical single also includes re-recorded versions of "WORLD END CRISIS" and "Cult Scream."

The last of the three monthly releases—a song that softly yet powerfully expresses the emotions welling up deep in the heart.
We've already been performing it at concerts—the melody carrying such heavy lyrics and the song’s intense progression...

This track really hits you straight in the heart.
From Kisaragi Megumi's Twitter.

Very heavy, but confidently turning your gaze forward, fragile, yet strong—a song that only "Zenkimi" could sing! I poured so many of my feelings into it, and I’d be happy if it became a special song for you, too.
From Mei Yui Mei's Twitter.

"Zenkimi" can now sing songs like this! I want you to listen and feel it!
Both in the recording and live💭
When I sing it, it feels like it pierces right through my heart—it’s a heavy, very heavy song, but I love it so much!💭
From Nene Komochi's Twitter.

It's a slow song, and it's very heavy, but it overflows with so many emotions.
Let’s stay in this endless dream.

I’m so happy that there are already many people who love this song૮ ⸝⸝ʚ̴̶̷̷ ‧̫ ʚ̴̶̷̷⸝⸝ ა

Please, listen to it often!
From Muku's Twitter.

A song that is heavy in both sound and lyrics.
Not alone, but together with you—I’ll stay with you and keep singing this song with care, pouring my feelings into it.

I hope you listen to it often(っᴖ˛ᴖc)🔆
The heaviness, the weakness, the strength—this music and these words sing about how we live here, connected through Zenbu Kimi no Sei da.
I hope this song becomes important not just to "Zenkimi," but to you too!!ᖛ ̫ ᖛ )👍🏻
I want to be with you, I want to be here—I will sing this song with care, pouring all these strong emotions into it.
From Hino Hikari's Twitter.

The joint tour of Zenbu Kimi no Sei da and TOKYO TEFUTEFU, "NEO ROMANCE BUTTERFLY," has begun. Its first show was dedicated to the birthday of Kisaragi Megumi.

This was my tenth birthday since I joined Zenbu Kimi no Sei da!

I’m truly grateful that I can still spend such joyful moments and days.
Thank you so much to everyone who cherishes me in this place so dear to me!

I was so happy!
I’ll sleep well and keep this happiness inside me forever~♡
From Kisaragi Megumi's Twitter.

This day also marked four years since Mei Yui Mei joined the group.

"Zenkimi" also unveiled their new costumes:

Additionally, according to one of the recent livestreams, the group is planning to film a music video for "coyubi." They might also shoot one for "MemaiPoem"—but that’s not confirmed yet.

During the same livestream, Megumi stated that this year, "Zenkimi" intends to finally set a new goal. According to her, the reason this hadn't been done earlier was that the group had already gone through many member departures. So before setting a new goal, they wanted to make sure they could continue together for at least a year. Therefore, after the anniversary of the current lineup in March, we can expect Zenbu Kimi no Sei da to set a new dream for themselves.

On December 17 and January 24, the group held another set of livestreams dedicated to their past albums. The members discussed Anima Animus Paradox (their second album) and Egoistic Eat Issues (their third), and as always, I’ve highlighted some interesting facts for you:
  • Speaking about "Neojealous Melochaos," whose re-recorded version became part of the Anima Animus Paradox album, Megumi pointed out that in the first re-recordings of this song, the voices of former members who had already left at that time were sometimes kept. For example, as far as she remembers, before the line "Yami Kawaii tte Nan Desho?" sung by Hitomi Yotsu, there is a moment performed by Asuna. And in the version recorded with Togaren, the phrase "Kyun-Kyun" is performed by Aza. In both of these versions, the chorus sections (such as "Kizame, Hibike, Todoroke") also include the voices of all previous members who had left. However, later re-recordings of "Neojealous Melochaos" feature only the voices of the lineup at the time of recording.
  • At the end of the music video for "Alternative Melancholy," there's a scene where the members are asleep, and the only one who wakes up is Gomochi. It might seem intentional, since by then it was already known that she would be leaving the group. According to Megumi, they even considered adding shadows of new members to the MV if they had been recruited in time. However, this particular scene wasn’t planned that way—the choice of who would wake up wasn’t predetermined. The cameraman suggested it should be either Gomochi or Mashiro since they were in the center, and in the end, Gomochi was the one who woke up.
  • Filming the "Monologous garden" MV was quite a challenge, as the members had to eat fruit for an hour and a half. This video also turned out to be the most expensive in the group’s history (apparently due to the props).
Introduction, development, climax, and conclusion of morbid cuteness!
What exactly is morbid cuteness? Here is the anatomical atlas of "morbid cuteness" in the style of Zenbu Kimi no Sei da!

Ten tracks packed with chaotic sound—this is our welcoming declaration of war!
The concept of the YamikawaIMRAD album, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

Both girls and boys are unfathomable, and that’s what makes them so adorable.
The boy inside you, the girl inside you—
Isn’t that the contradictory chaos that makes us human?
The concept of the Anima Animus Paradox album, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

You and I are always so selfish and contradictory.
As if we’re just messing around, but we’re serious. As if we’re laughing, but we’re crying.
The only thing we can do is have fun in these days of contradictions.
The concept of the Egoistic Eat Issues album, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

On December 23, RISA, the former drummer of the Zenkimi Band, safely gave birth to her child.

On December 31, TOKYO TEFUTEFU held a solo concert at club asia, where they concluded the TRANCEBULLET MOTOGURUU TOUR and celebrated their fourth anniversary. Several important announcements were made.

First, on February 12, "Tefutefu" will release their next single, "FLYASDUST."

9.jpg

The lead track will be composed by yowanecity (who, as mentioned before, wrote "rinbu" and "MusyokuToumeiNi" for the group, as well as "MemaiPoem" for Zenbu Kimi no Sei da), while the lyrics will be written by GESSHIRUI.

The physical release will also include re-recorded versions of "Butterfly-Hi" and "rinbu" with the current lineup.

"FLYASDUST" is a song that we, "Tefutefu," sing while pouring all of our indescribable love for you, the "Mirages," into our voices.
You, who are so infinitely dear to me, and this place...
This is what I want to dedicate my whole self to, so please be at ease and trust me.
From Mary Lust's Twitter.

A story of what was and what will be.
The clock hands that have begun to move will not stop again.
I will not let them stop.
From Chimura Shifumi's Twitter.

Secondly, on May 3, as the conclusion of the NEO ROMANCE BUTTERFLY TOUR, TOKYO TEFUTEFU will hold a concert at Shibuya WWW X.

And on December 29, the group will perform at the largest venue in their history—Zepp Shinjuku.

For reference, club asia has a capacity of 300, Shibuya WWW X holds 500, and Zepp Shinjuku can accommodate 1,500 people.

The members also unveiled their new costumes.

The show ultimately ended in a sold-out success.

Additionally, a video release of this performance was recently announced. (At the moment, it is unknown whether it will be a DVD or Blu-ray, but according to the livestream where this announcement was made, there is an 80-90% chance it will be Blu-ray.) Pre-orders for the basic disc package were available until January 31st, while more expensive pre-order options, including various bonuses, are available until February 28th.

The disc will not be available for general sale, but after its release, there may be a limited opportunity to purchase it. Apparently, general sales were initially planned, and according to Nobuhide Imamura, the video was intended to be actively used for promoting the group. However, during the editing stage, it was discovered that a smartphone mounted on a stand, which was recording the concert, was prominently visible in the wide shots and looked quite out of place. This happened because in codomomental, every performance of their groups is recorded for later review. However, on that particular day, in the midst of all the commotion, those responsible for this recording were not informed that the performance would be professionally filmed. While it’s not a major issue, the footage was ultimately deemed unsuitable for a serious release. That said, there is a possibility that a few songs may later be uploaded to YouTube.

The filming of Mary Lust's first photobook, "Märchen Venom," has officially been completed. To commemorate this, another sample from the upcoming book was posted on Twitter.

When the four of them sing "Please, give me everything" in the chorus, it feels reminiscent of how ZKS sings in "coyubi," "Stake your pinky on it."
Also, Tefu singing in "FLYASDUST," "Soar above all heights," and ZKS singing in "Sleeping Dirty," "Fall with me," appear as two sides of the same coin in the current codomomental, celebrating its tenth anniversary.
A fan's observation, retweeted by the official codomomental account.

On February 5, Not Secured, Loose Ends finally released their new single, "VanilLament," which was originally scheduled for release on October 9 but was postponed due to production issues.

12.jpg

I am too helpless...
The concept of the release, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

"VanilLament" is yet another new song composed for codomomental by DAIKI (who also wrote "can you hear 'A' me," "Nil∴," and "eclipse" for TOKYO TEFUTEFU, as well as "Sleeping Dirty" for Zenbu Kimi no Sei da), with lyrics, as usual, penned by GESSHIRUI (translated by syva). You can check out the lyrics at this link.

In addition to the lead track, the physical release also includes re-recorded versions of "Plays With Nietzsche" and "Loud Asymmetry."

This song makes my heart ache with pain, yet it is a powerful song that proclaims farewell to a weaker self. A heavy sound and heavy lyrics in the true NSLE style. I will continue to sing it with care, so that it can become a song capable of saving you.

When I sing this song, it resonates within me every time.

The first single, "GENESIS," was filled with a passionate thirst, whereas "VanilLament" is a song where the desire to change a lamenting self is more prominent.

This is a song that will pierce through you ☪︎
From Kisaragi Megumi's Twitter.

As promised, I present to you a translation of interesting moments from the livestream where Nobuhide Imamura, Nene Komochi, and Fukumoto Emi discussed Seireki13ya's final concert and many other related topics. You will learn about Komochi's and the company's staff’s impressions of this historic day, amusing and interesting behind-the-scenes stories, the emotions with which the director and Komochi faced the group's final moments, the fateful coincidences intertwined with Seireki13ya's history, some details about how the decision to disband the group was made, how its dissolution affected Komochi's life, and many other intriguing things. If you are still upset about "Seireki's" disbanding, while there are certainly some sad moments in the video, you may be able to experience at least a partial catharsis after watching it.

The original stream is still available on codomomental’s official YouTube channel. As a reminder, it also includes a performance of "Night Merry" by the group, which will be included in the upcoming Blu-ray.

On January 22, USHIMITSU released their first digital single, "USOTSUKI."

The first of two monthly releases. We all thought about the lyrics together, reflecting on phrases—this is a song we created together.

Though I’m nominally the producer, in reality, I work alongside everyone as an ordinary member. And in doing so, we created our first release together.

So, please, listen to "USOTSUKI."

The group has also announced a solo concert, set to take place on May 31 at Shibuya GRIT.

On January 27, the first livestream in the URTHANATOS Online series took place, featuring KAQRIYOTERROR's first online performance. Additionally, TOKYO TEFUTEFU and Zenbu Kimi no Sei da performed for a worldwide audience in their new costumes for the first time, giving fans the opportunity to hear their new songs before their official release (naturally, along with the option to purchase them).

The second stream in this series was held on February 6, this time featuring Not Secured, Loose Ends instead of KAQRIYOTERROR, introducing their new single to the world. And you can still watch the archive here.

During COVID, as we thought about what we could do to make people happy, we began holding online concerts.

Back then, despite all the difficulties, we experimented through trial and error together with everyone who was with us at the time. And although we are now once again performing across the country, we continue to hold online concerts as well. Thanks to this, people abroad and those who truly cannot attend our live shows can still watch them, and I am very happy about that.

Thank you to everyone who watched us today, as well as those who came to the show.

On codomomental’s official Twitter, it was announced that in 2025, Nobuhide Imamura will launch his personal creative production project, GARDE SECT, which is described as covering the fields of "Music/Poem/Photo/Movie/Design/Art/Visual/Costume/Clothing/Virtual."

I have translated the final part of GESSHIRUI's article series about the new generation of codomomental members:

"The producer told her that if she simply wanted to become an idol, it would be better not to do it through our company."

I think this article will be the last one in this series. Does that mean I'll write about four members at once? Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do. On a side note, I want to mention that time flies so fast—it's already September 2024. I barely blinked, and September arrived... It's even a bit scary. This summer stands out in my memory as unbearably hot (and the hot days continue), but how was your summer? As for codomomental INC, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da began a new tour, starting from scratch, TOKYO TEFUTEFU also embarked on a new tour, Not Secured, Loose Ends held a release tour, and of course, other groups have been working hard as well.

Good morning, everyone, this is GESSHIRUI. Today, as part of the third installment in the "New Generation" series, I’d like to talk about the new members of codomomental INC. As I mentioned earlier, this is a series of articles, so if you're curious to learn more about the newcomers, I'd be delighted if you checked out the first (English translation) and second (English translation) parts as well.

The article that originally inspired me to write this series is the one about the leaders of the current codomomental INC groups (English translation). And I wouldn't say much has changed since its publication—they continue to give it their all every day (though this doesn’t mean others aren’t working hard too). They come up with plans, voice ideas, implement them, and stay behind to finish work when everyone else has left—I've personally witnessed all of this in just the past few days. This was especially evident when Typhoon No. 10 caused performances to be canceled, but they still made efforts to entertain their fans across the country. As always, I hold deep respect for all the leaders.

Well, this wraps up the introductory part of the article. Since this is the final installment of the series, today I’ll talk about four individuals. It’s quite challenging to decide where to start, though the order doesn’t really matter. Please proceed only if you’re genuinely interested.
In this installment, you will learn what made Ema Amajiki stand out among all the other newcomers during her debut performance in the "supergroup" iteration of KAQRIYOTERROR, as well as the unfortunately unrealized potential she possessed. You will also find out how Sagara "Hide Bite The Sun" Tsuzura managed to get by in the modern world without mastering the most basic smartphone skills, and how interestingly she fit into the concept of futatsuna. The article also delves into what lies beyond the well-known surface persona of Tademaru Ichiren and what "a quality that’s characteristic of people in codomomental" she has; the incredible, unconscious strength that Yui Urari radiates and what troubles her the most, and much more.

Other updates: since the publication of the previous bulletin, I have also made the following color-coded videos:

Let only tender feelings flow through the tips of our touching fingers.

"Two people sharing" — a song by Seireki13ya with lyrics written by Yui Urari. If you're familiar with my translation of "Past Time Link," you might appreciate how Urari’s second work, while quite different in style from the first, just as vividly reflects her aspiration to "become a person who can heal the wounds of people who have been hurt," as she spoke about in this video (English subtitles).

The stars, as if jealous of the warmth we share,
Seem to have turned entirely into a sea.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef5f6DRLSXI

The second set of lyrics by Nene Komochi, which she wrote for the song "Sweetie Charm," is much more fantastical than "Face2" (which is entirely about Seireki13ya and deeply rooted in reality), yet it expresses the girl's feelings with the same incredible straightforwardness—one could even say it is just as direct as Komochi herself.

Can my hand enfold you, embracing your dismay, and swallow your pain, with a word of love?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9herXfn7TJs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbt9LYYV1mA

Originally, I had planned to release only the translation of the NSLE version. However, after some thought, I decided to also create my own translation of the original. As you probably know, translating from Japanese to English is an extremely difficult task, as the languages differ so much that conveying many important nuances often becomes simply impossible. Additionally, Japanese poetry can be incredibly ambiguous—to such an extent that maintaining the same level of ambiguity in English is, in the vast majority of cases, simply not feasible, as it would result in grammatically incomplete sentences. For these reasons, translating Japanese songs is always a wild compromise, and the final result largely reflects the translator’s personal interpretation. Still, I hope that I manage to capture at least a fraction of the original lyrics’ charm.

With that said, if creating a simple literal translation of a song is already an incredibly difficult task, then producing a poetic translation without significant deviations from the original text is essentially impossible (especially considering that even for relatively similar languages, this is not always achievable). That’s why I felt that, in addition to the official poetic translation, many people might also be interested in a translation that aims to follow the original text as closely as possible.

As for the song itself, it hardly needs an introduction. I’m sure that for songs of this caliber, even the language barrier is not much of an obstacle. But if you wish to immerse yourself in it even more deeply, I hope I have been able to provide you with the means to do so.

codomomental bulletin #77

On February 12th, TOKYO TEFUTEFU released their new single, "FLYASDUST."

Hey, I'll say it over and over:
Your eyes, your voice, your hands, your passion, every last part of you—give me everything.
The release concept, as expressed on the obi of the CD.

If you look closely, the cover art features familiar symbols frequently used in the group's works: butterflies, lycoris flowers, and an inverted Tokyo cityscape (reflected in the water). The scenery is also covered in floating dust, and at its center, a clock is depicted—symbolizing how the group's time, which had come to a halt a year ago, has now begun to move once again.

0.jpg

The lyrics also contain many familiar motifs, as well as numerous lines that directly reference reality—continuing both the artistic narrative and the storytelling about the group's own history ("Traces of the Path"). It's also impossible not to notice the power of the appeal that the girls are now directing at their fans, and the expression of their determination ahead of the challenges facing them this year. You can experience all of this in my translation:

A song that brings tears to my eyes.
A song that will shape our future.
From Yuzuriha Ouhi's Twitter.

Sorry to have kept you waiting for so long. A whole year has passed, and now we are releasing our first single with this lineup.

Everything we built together with the "Mirages" over these past four years—we poured it all, every last bit, into this song that is so dear to our hearts.

The determination to move forward toward a great future is already burning within us.
From Mary Lust's Twitter.

After a year, we are finally releasing our first single as a four-piece.
We are the ones who paint our future. And what it becomes is up to us.
Let's turn what once seemed like an impossible dream into reality.
No longer do we wander through this city that lies between dreams and reality—we move forward.
It's like the very way we live.

If you listened to this song and felt even a little of what I feel, then I can say with certainty—my life is not in vain.
Perhaps loving your own songs isn't something to be taken for granted.
After all, my life has been a series of miracles.
Let's never let go of anything,
Together.

May this song be cherished—
Now and forever.
From Chimura Shifumi's Twitter.

I put all my feelings and determination toward you, the "Mirages," into this song.

I hope you accept themᐡ> ̫ <ᐡ!!
From Kagari Kohaku Sekai's Twitter.

Aside from all this, the lyrics also contain a number of less obvious nuances, which were discussed by Nobuhide Imamura in one of the group's recent livestreams:
  • First of all, as you may have noticed, the song begins with the words "I wither," and beyond that, the word "thirst" appears multiple times throughout the lyrics. This is primarily a reference to codomomental's philosophy, which is also reflected in the company's logo (depicting a girl who drinks but cannot quench her thirst). If you're interested in learning more about this, my new video translation, which you can find below, explores this theme in great detail.
  • Let me remind you that the original concept of TOKYO TEFUTEFU is expressed in the phrase, "Flying, I am falling, amidst a cityscape that exists between dreams and reality..."—something that is directly reflected in the group's original concept art. "Tefutefu's" artistic expression is fundamentally based on conflicting/contrasting imagery, where dreams and reality intertwine, and through a lens of fantasy, the suffering of modern city dwellers is expressed. This contrast is also embedded in the group's name ("Tokyo Butterfly"/"Tokyo Butterflies"): in a modern metropolis, where nature is scarce, encountering butterflies is quite rare. And "Flying, I am falling" represents the feeling of not knowing whether one is truly soaring or plummeting, an image that alludes to how hope can turn into despair, and despair into hope. Likewise, the lines "To soar above any heights — if that's what you wish, then let's fall together" naturally embody this concept. According to Imamura-san, although this was the core idea behind TOKYO TEFUTEFU, for a long time he hesitated to fully express it in the group's work, as the members were not yet capable of conveying it properly. However, now they can confidently bring this concept to life, which is why these words were included in the lyrics.
  • The chorus lines, "Your eyes, your voice, your hands, your passion..." reference Zenbu Kimi no Sei da's "Cult Scream", where the chorus includes the lines: "The voice you pour out and the hand you reach out to me..." Meanwhile, "Give me everything, every last part of you" reflects the group's members' greedy nature (which may not be so obvious from an outside perspective but, according to the director, is truly extraordinary), exposing their genuine desires—ones they would not be able to express in real life. In this sense, "The feigned strength hiding your embarrassment," from the second variation of the chorus, also refers to themselves.
  • The second chorus begins with the lines, "I trace with my finger, outlining the repeating words," which express the girls' tendency to blame themselves. In particular, Ouhi blamed herself deeply for being unable to overcome her prolonged voice issues, as well as for the leg injury she suffered last year. But the other members also have their own moments of self-reproach.
  • The line "Memories locked away by the key of innocence come to life" alludes to periods in the members' lives when the darker sides of their personalities surfaced. Specifically, it references how tough and distant Ouhi was at the start of the group's activities (again, more details on this can be found in the new video translation below).
  • "Stirring my exposed wounds, I gently hold the bloomed flower close, thinking of you" conveys the necessity for every artist to face their own weaknesses, to tear away the scabs and resolutely dig into their own wounds—something absolutely essential for growth, as "only through this does the flower bloom." This is also a reference to Zenbu Kimi no Sei da's "Kimi omoi hana chirinu" ("Flowers fell, as I thought of you"), which is why this line is sung by Chimura Shifumi, who is known to have been a fan of the group.
  • "Longing so deeply for love, I lamented that I couldn’t love properly."
Nobuhide Imamura: This is just... TOKYO TEFUTEFU, exactly as they are!

Everyone: (Laughs).

Nobuhide Imamura: How come you were like that?

Everyone: How? We have no idea!

Nobuhide Imamura: Right? You wanted to be loved more than anyone else, but you didn’t understand how to love properly, isn’t that so?

Mary Lust: Plus, it’s interesting why all of us were like that, without exception.

Yuzuriha Ouhi: We didn’t understand, yeah.

Nobuhide Imamura: Right? It’s like you were bound by some kind of barrier, isn’t it?

Everyone: We were!

Chimura Shifumi: I realize that. I put up a barrier myself.

Nobuhide Imamura: Really!

Chimura Shifumi: Like, "Don’t come any closer!"

Nobuhide Imamura: Yeah! You know, this is something... I really wish the people who support TOKYO TEFUTEFU would understand the most. Because I think among the people who support TOKYO TEFUTEFU—Or rather, you could even say among the people who support codomomental—there are just so many like this.

Everyone: Yeah...

Nobuhide Imamura: Those who want to be loved but don’t know how to love properly...

Yuzuriha Ouhi: Achoo!

Nobuhide Imamura: Hey, I was in the middle of saying something really good...

Yuzuriha Ouhi: My bad, couldn't hold it in!

Everyone: (Laughs).

Nobuhide Imamura: People who lament, don’t lament!
  • "To soar, fluttering in a dance from the heights—it's like the very way we live and the traces of our path. A dazzling thirst." If at the beginning of the song, the protagonists are withering, then by the end, they still feel thirst—but of a completely different nature: dazzling. Leaving behind the traces of a long journey, they have endured many hardships, yet they overcame them, shared these emotions with everyone, and only as a result of all this did they attain a dazzling thirst.
Nobuhide Imamura: So, tell me your impressions when you first received the song.

Mary Lust: All this time, I really wanted a new song for the four of us as soon as possible.

Nobuhide Imamura: Ah, you mentioned that in the interview!

Mary Lust: Yes, I did! First and foremost, I just wanted it to come out soon, but no matter how many times I asked, "When? When?", the answer was always, "Not yet!"

Nobuhide Imamura: Yep, I kept saying that!

Mary Lust: You did! So when I finally got it, honestly, my first reaction was just pure joy—that we finally had a song that could express who we are right now—"This is TOKYO TEFUTEFU!"

Nobuhide Imamura: And what about the others?

Chimura Shifumi: I was also like, "Oh, finally, a song for the four of us!" But then when I got the lyrics and read them... Lately, you know, TOKYO TEFUTEFU have been a bit... bold.

Nobuhide Imamura: Bold?!

Everyone: (Laughs).

Chimura Shifumi: Well, kind of assertive, like, "Come on, follow us!"

Nobuhide Imamura: Ahh!

Chimura Shifumi: I felt like there was quite a lot of that.

Nobuhide Imamura: Yeah?

Chimura Shifumi: Yeah, that’s how it seemed to me.

Nobuhide Imamura: (Thoughtfully) Hmmm...

Chimura Shifumi: But when I first read the lyrics to "FLYASDUST," I saw that they also reflected our weaknesses, this desire to be loved—even things that are a bit embarrassing to expose to everyone. And I realized that I had to sing this song with more honesty and sincerity than anything I had ever sung before.

Everyone: (Agrees).

Chimura Shifumi: And I also burst into tears.

Everyone: (Laughs).

Yuzuriha Ouhi: Even before I got the lyrics, when I just received the demo, I remember I was in the office with Chimu, and we sat there listening to it together. Remember?

Chimura Shifumi: I remember!

Yuzuriha Ouhi: Yeah, and we were like, "Wow, what a great song! We can’t wait to perform it!" We just kept talking about it. And I thought, "I wonder what the lyrics will be like?" I was really looking forward to them, and when they finally arrived, ah... Just reading those words, my eyes were already welling up. And when I heard the final result—when I heard how everyone sang it—I thought, "This song turned out amazing! Everything fits together so perfectly!" And I couldn’t wait to perform it live.

Kagari Kohaku Sekai: When I got the lyrics, I felt that they were very straightforward—that conveying them wouldn’t be difficult. Like, these words would surely resonate with everyone’s hearts, and I decided that I would sing them with all my strength.
Let me remind you that I have translated two recent interviews with the group, in which their new release is also discussed in great detail.

In the first interview, the members share how their current joint tour with Zenbu Kimi no Sei daNEO ROMANCE BUTTERFLY—is going, what mindset they are approaching it with, and with what determination they are facing their upcoming challenges. The girls talk about how four years of "Tefutefu" have changed them and what important shifts in their approach to the group's performances they have recently come to. The four share their impressions and feelings about their new song, highlight key moments and nuances in its singing and choreography, discuss how the recording process went... You will also find out about the roots of the girls' tendency to show off, their true feelings during Ouhi's leg injury when she couldn't dance, how they became able to express emotions in their performances that they were hesitant to express, and more:

TOKYO TEFUTEFU — "Nobody needs a second Zenkimi".

In the second interview, the group thoroughly discusses the previous year—a year that brought them a series of upheavals, including Nonno’s departure and the hiatus of their senpais, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da—and explains how this turbulent period affected them. You will learn about Nobuhide Imamura's unexpectedly fulfilled prophecy, as well as the difficult periods during TOKYO TEFUTEFU's activities, with Lust nearly breaking down at one point and Kagari at another. The director reveals why the first single in the current lineup took so long to be released, what role and purpose were entrusted to the new song, and what made its creation possible in the first place. Additionally, the girls talk about the significance of their upcoming concert at Zepp Shinjuku, the emotions with which they approach it... You can learn these and other interesting details at the link below:

TOKYO TEFUTEFU — "If we lose even one member, the butterfly might not be able to fly anymore".

“Ah, so that's what this line is about!”—these moments of realization, as well as many places that make you think, “Yeah, I get it!”... All these four years are completely packed into this—I realize it again.

Every time I sing it, I become stronger, and surely, every time I pour my feelings into it, I will cry.
I picture myself performing this song on a big stage over and over again.

What about you?
From Chimura Shifumi’s Twitter.

As you’ve probably already noticed, TOKYO TEFUTEFU have unveiled their new conceptual promo photos:

I am proud to present what I consider my magnum opus (at least for now)—the translation of TOKYO TEFUTEFU's livestream, in which Nobuhide Imamura reveals, down to the smallest details, the concepts and ideas woven into the group's solo song EP, "IIIIly."

This two-hour (!) video is remarkable not only for providing a deeper appreciation of the artistic intricacies of the release, as the lyrics of the solo songs are filled with an absolutely incredible number of references to the members' personalities and important real-life events tied to them, which the head of codomomental analyzes in detail line by line. What makes this even more special is that most of these details have never been shared before, so by watching this video, you'll undoubtedly get to see these girls from entirely new and fascinating perspectives, while also learning a wealth of interesting behind-the-scenes stories and facts.

Some of the topics covered in this video:
  • What constantly pushes Imamura-san to burden Chimura Shifumi's shoulders.
  • About the girl's self-destructive and impulsive nature.
  • The real-life event referenced by the line "It’s too late to realize that there’s no one by my side."
  • The guest vocals that were originally planned for the solo song of this "child sent by God."
  • The "pathetic sight" Yuzuriha Ouhi presented during her audition.
  • How her solo song’s lyrics contain a direct mention of the stage name she used in her previous group, as well as a reference to the "beastly perseverance" demonstrated by Kotetsu and Nene Komochi during the 2020 rookie training camp.
  • How the title "Nocturne" is connected to... the girl's face.
  • How, immediately after the car accident—despite being injured—the only thing she was worried about was... missing a recording session.
  • The brazen statement from Kagari Kohaku Sekai that was the sole reason this EP was created.
  • Her rarely-revealed true nature, which contrasts with her public image and leads to "antics that can't be discussed on-air," and how amazingly inventive it was expressed in her solo song.
  • Why this "superfan of the ones she loves" was certain she would pass the audition for the group.
  • The "sickness" the director diagnosed in Mary Lust when they first met.
  • The bothersome—yet strangely positive—qualities that define her.
  • The suicidal thoughts that have haunted her since she first became aware of herself.
  • The secret behind the codomomental logo and the company’s original philosophy, which the girl fits into extraordinarily well.
And that’s still far from everything.

To be honest, if someone had told me two years ago that I would one day translate a two-hour Japanese video (and a rather complex one at that), I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Even though I always aim to translate only the most interesting segments of livestreams to keep viewer engagement high—and therefore rarely translate them fully—this time, I found almost nothing I could cut.

I do understand that watching a two-hour video is a serious time commitment that not everyone can afford. However, if you have even the slightest interest in TOKYO TEFUTEFU and want to learn more fascinating details about the group and its members, I truly believe you won’t regret setting aside the time to watch this video in its entirety:

For convenience, I added notes at the top of the video, explaining certain points and showing the lyrics being discussed at any given moment.

With these solo songs, we have laid ourselves bare before you, down to the deepest depths of our souls. This is the proof of our existence here. May it reach countless hands, eyes, and hearts.
From Mary Lust’s Twitter.

When you delve into the meaning of the lyrics and the stories behind them, music becomes even more fascinating.
To be honest, listening to the stories behind the others' songs, I almost cried.
Each of us has kept moving forward, never stopping to do our best, and that's exactly why these songs are even more precious to my heart.

This is the treasure of my life.
Whenever I perform my solo song, I always sing with the determination to lay everything bare—my painful past, my precious present, and the future I envision in my mind.

And although I still can't accept my past self, if one day I am able to embrace it along with everything else, perhaps an entirely new landscape will unfold before me.
From Chimura Shifumi’s Twitter.

Thank you for watching the stream 🎶🎶

Thanks to the director, I learned so many new things I never knew before ✊🏻

Also, so much about me was revealed that it was embarrassing...
But maybe you’ll accept me like this too?......っ ̫ -˘

I want to keep singing "eclipse" over and over again 🐩
From Kagari Kohaku Sekai’s Twitter.

You can learn even more about this previously unseen side of Kagari in the following blog post by GESSHIRUI, which is dedicated to her solo song.

"Those who support Kagari Kohaku Sekai are bound to be happy."

I think there are two main types of people you select during auditions. The first is when you immediately feel something in a person and say, "Found her!" The second is when you think, "Maybe she would fit this group." While the first option may sound more appealing at first, in reality, it feels like people of the second type tend to stay with us longer. Though that’s just my personal impression. That’s why the producer almost never says, "I’ve found such an amazing person!" In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say anything like that. Why this happens—I might explain below or in another article, but for now, let’s get back to the topic. Besides these two categories, there is yet another one—people who don’t fit into either.

Lately, I’ve wanted to balance writing articles with working on projects, but it seems I’m not that skilled. With my current approach—where I try to create something while also consuming information at the same time—it’s especially difficult. I write about 2,000 characters and leave them as drafts, intending to build up a collection of articles, but when the right moment comes to finalize them, I suddenly realize: "Ah, maybe I don’t really want to write about this after all." So there’s a high chance that these 2,000-character articles will die off one by one. I hate my own nature.

Well, today I want to talk about “eclipse,” a solo song by Kagari Kohaku Sekai from TOKYO TEFUTEFU’s EP of solo songs, “IIIIly.”

TOKYO TEFUTEFU was formed, I believe, in late 2020. And among the members at the time, Kagari Kohaku Sekai particularly stood out because of her unusual name. When I first saw her, I thought, "I see…" even though I didn’t actually understand what exactly I was seeing (laughs). This might come as a surprise to some, but when the producer chooses names for the members (this also applies to song titles), he's not trying to show off at all—often, they emerge quite naturally. You might be surprised, and I know people say they can’t read most of the codomomental members’ names or song titles, but we actually approach this with sincere feelings. And often, when you line them up, they seem quite normal. But even among all that, her name stood out blatantly. People often ask where her last name ends and her first name begins, but at some point, I stopped wondering about it. Somehow, it started to feel silly (laughs). Well, the following text is for those who are genuinely interested.
In the continuation, the lyricist discusses the essence and significance of those who fall into this "intermediate" category, reflects on the negative aspects of the current era, where individuality of artists takes center stage, and reveals the unique role of Kagari Kohaku Sekai—also touching on her unexpected side and "the fascination of the girl that goes far beyond just that." The article also explains why the author believes that Kagari's fans are truly lucky people and delves into the artistic imagery and techniques used in her solo song to express all these interesting aspects of her personality.

As a reminder, I’ve also translated GESSHIRUI's blog post about Mary Lust's solo song—"Nil∴". These articles perfectly complement the themes explored in the livestream, so by reading them, you can deepen your understanding of the meanings embedded in these songs and explore the members' personalities on an even deeper level.

Additionally, all songs from the "IIIIly" EP have already been translated by me.

February 13 marked one year since the group got into a car accident.

The year passed in the blink of an eye, yet even so, whenever I look back, different memories come flooding in each time. Simply by continuing to live here, I have gained so many things that are so important to me. And though I am still here, all I can do is watch the silhouettes disappear into the distance, feeling helpless. Over and over again. It turns out that what’s important doesn’t always stay with you forever. You lose it, you forget… Ah… You even forget that you forgot. I’m sick of these shallow emotions.

Now and always, I will believe in what I have believed in, love what I have loved, and, holding it all close, I will soar.
And nothing else.

On March 19, Lust's first photobook, Märchen Venom, was released. The book is available for regular purchase.

On February 7 and March 8, Higaminari Yuchiomi held solo livestreams, from which I tried to highlight a few interesting facts below:
  • She announced that she is the leader of KAQRIYOTERROR.
  • Although she hasn’t been particularly into manga lately, over the past year, she has become deeply immersed in the works of Junji Ito (a mangaka renowned as a master of the horror genre) and has been actively collecting related merchandise. Her favorite work by him is Uzumaki, and the character The Beautiful Boy at the Crossroads from the short story collection Lovesick Dead is an object of her admiration, someone she aspires to be like.
  • She hasn’t been watching much anime recently either, but as a child, she was very fond of K-On! for its “cute girls doing cute things” concept. She even spent her pocket money on buying CDs with songs from the anime.
  • Yuchiomi states that she wants to perform on stage for as long as possible—even until the end of her life.
  • If she ever has to leave the stage, she wants to spend her old age as a farmer or a baker.
  • One of her lifelong dreams has been to become a Vocaloid.
Higaminari Yuchiomi: GESSHIRUI-san also wrote about this in his blog (English translation), so it’s not like I’ve been hiding it, but in elementary school, I often uploaded my vocal covers on Nico Nico Douga. I really loved Vocaloid songs, so I wanted to create them myself. Do you know programs like UTAU? Or Vocaloid3? When I found out that I could use them to create Vocaloid songs with my own voice, I worked really hard on it, but since I was in elementary school at the time, of course, none of the data has survived.
So yes, I want to become a Vocaloid. Because if I become a Vocaloid, even if one day I can no longer sing, songs will still be performed with my voice. And then I will leave the stage and become a farmer or a baker. That’s my dream (laughs).
  • The scariest things from the girl's perspective are cockroaches, ghosts, and people.
  • Her favorite activity during school breaks was walking in circles in the corner of the room because she liked the feeling of dizziness it gave her. Sometimes she still does this at home.
  • In response to a comment from a fan, who said that offstage she turned out to be surprisingly funny, which contrasts with her cool performances, she stated that she’s not cool at all in real life, but hopes to become so one day.
  • Yuchiomi can also play the guitar a little, though she currently doesn’t own one, and her skills have likely declined.
KAQRIYOTERROR have announced their first tour since the reboot—SPIRAL HERITAGE, consisting of nine performances across seven cities. Eight of them will be joint concerts with futatsuna, USOTSUKINAISHO, and USHIMITSU, while the tour finale will be a solo concert—the first for this new iteration of the group. The first performance has already taken place on March 6, and the final one is scheduled for May 10.

I'm here not just by chance, but with immense determination towards my activities, and I’m sure the same goes for Tademaru and Shiro.
I want to convey this to you, and I’ll do everything I can to make the tour finale—our first solo concert—an absolute success🔥
We’re going to grow like crazy!⚡
From Higaminari Yuchiomi’s Twitter.

The first tour of my life.
I want to show you, in full detail, everything I’ve managed to grow in₍ᵔー̀wー́ᵔ₎

7 cities, 9 shows — in each of them, we, KAQRIYOTERROR, will put all our strength to reach you, so please accept it.
From Tsukumo Romi’s Twitter.

The first KAQRIYOTERROR (幽世脅嚇) tour!
I want to cherish every concert and give it my all! 🕊️
Step by step, improving every day, the three of us will confidently evolve🔥
I want to have a great time with all of you > ̫<
From Tademaru Ichiren’s Twitter.

On the eve of the tour, the group held a livestream where the girls expressed their determination for the upcoming nine shows. It was also revealed that the name of KAQRIYOTERROR’s fans has changed from YOMIBITO (a term in traditional Japanese culture referring to a person who composed and recited poetry, especially in the context of classical Japanese waka poetry) to YOMIHITO (an alternative reading of the word "Yomibito").

Tademaru Ichiren: Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my individuality. What makes me unique? How should I present myself properly? I’ve had so many doubts, searched, tried different things… But I feel like I’m finally starting to understand. I’m learning how to showcase myself better, and though I only have a general idea for now, I want to use this tour to reveal my individuality even more.
I want to refine my vocals, and step by step, step by step, keep growing, so I want you to see everything—every one of our performances.
There are people who love the previous KAQRIYOTERROR, but I want you to fully see what the group is like now as well. I want you to love both the past and the present KAQRIYOTERROR.
We are heading to different corners of the country to meet you, YOMIHITO, so please come to our concerts! We will never make you regret it, so please, come! We’ll be waiting for you!

Tsukumo Romi: Lately, I feel like I’ve been in a bit of a meditative state. But little by little, step by step, I’m adjusting how I should be on stage and how to present myself properly—when I should act a certain way, when I should be cute, when I should be cool, and so on. I keep adjusting and challenging myself! So, there might be times when you think, "Huh? Tsukumo doesn’t seem like herself today," but I’m taking on challenges in many different ways and want to show you many different sides of myself, so I’ll do my best!

Tademaru Ichiren: Many new sides of you, right? Because the audience will be able to see a different you than in futatsuna.

Tsukumo Romi: Exactly!

Higaminari Yuchiomi: Really, we take on new challenges at every single concert, so maybe they'll all be different from each other.

Tsukumo Romi: Yeah, like, "Whoa, today you all are way too intense!"

Higaminari Yuchiomi: But that’s exactly how growth happens.

Tademaru Ichiren: It’s important. Mistakes happen too, but they are mistakes made in order to succeed!

Higaminari Yuchiomi: I want to keep challenging myself and growing.

Tsukumo Romi: So we’re coming to you, and I hope that you will, in turn, accept all these different sides of me and enjoy everything—please!

All: Please!

Higaminari Yuchiomi: This is Yuchiomi! To be honest, even though I’m the leader of KAQRIYOTERROR, I still wonder if I’m really good enough for this role. Sometimes I think, "Am I really acting like a leader?"

Tademaru Ichiren: You are!

Higaminari Yuchiomi: Thank you. That’s something that worries me—I very often feel like I’m not managing it at all (Ichiren shakes her head), and it frustrates me. Even during yesterday’s show, I kept thinking, "I’m not able to lead everyone properly" (Ichiren shakes her head). That’s why, during this tour, I want to become someone who can confidently lead everyone as a leader… I want to learn how to create amazing concerts as a leader, working together with the strength that Ichiren and Shiro bring. Yes, I want this tour to be my chance to grow as a leader.
Also, as a personal goal, I want to take on various challenges to find new ways of expressing myself, different from those I use in NSLE.
And I don’t know if YOMIBITO will come to our concerts in different cities…

Tademaru Ichiren: Please come!

Higaminari Yuchiomi: I’d love for them to come, but surely, YOMIBITO have many different feelings, and there are many people who have decided not to. But the three of us are going to put on concerts that will make the YOMIBITO who did decide to come think, "Ah, why not become YOMIHITO?" (laughs). And for that, I will give my all! So please, come have fun with us!
A few days later, the girls held another livestream, where, together with the viewers, they thought about a goal they could strive for as a group. In the end, they set their sights on the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (with a capacity of around 13,000 people) as their ultimate goal. Subsequently, they also plan to set intermediate goals that will lead them toward it. The members also emphasized that the ultimate goal does not mean the end of their journey, because:
  • Yuchiomi intends to sing for her entire life. It doesn’t even matter what exactly—she is ready to keep singing as long as there are people who will listen.
  • Ichiren's main goal is to make as many people happy as possible—a goal that is, in principle, unattainable, since there will always be people she could still bring happiness to.
  • Tsukumo cannot even imagine leaving the stage—she wants to keep performing for as long as she can, until the very last moment, because once before, she made the choice to leave, and that decision only left her with regret.
In fact, the group has held several more streams, some of which are absolutely packed with fascinating information that would surely interest many. But I decided to translate them (almost) in full, so it will take some time.

Zenbu Kimi no Sei da have published their new promo photos:

If you missed it, I also translated two recent interviews with the group.

In the first one, the members discuss their recently completed series of monthly releases, explaining the unique aspects of their new songs and the new sides of Zenbu Kimi no Sei da they showcase. The girls share the emotions they poured into the songs, the important messages they are determined to convey to the fans, and how Muku and Hikari have grown. They also talk about how achieving their dream—performing at Budokan—affected their audience, why they still haven't decided on their next goal, and more:

Zenbu Kimi no Sei da – “If we can’t convey our determination to continue ‘Zenkimi’ with this lineup, I think the fans won’t come back to us”.

In the second interview, Megumi, Mei, and Komochi revisit the topic of the group's hiatus after their Budokan performance, explaining the reasoning behind the decision and shedding light on Kotetsu's departure. They share how they felt during the break and why, even after reaching such a major milestone, they still want to keep moving forward. The discussion also touches on the auditions they held—what key criteria the girls considered when selecting new members and why Muku and Hikari were chosen. Additionally, they talk about the group’s current state, the impact of their recent releases, the shift in their approach to choosing their upcoming goal, their ambition to break beyond the borders of Japan, and more:

Zenbu Kimi no Sei da - “We absolutely need to visit different parts of the world”.

Have you seen the group's latest music video for "coyubi"?

On a recent livestream, it was also announced that production has begun on a music video for "Sleeping Dirty."

"Zenkimi" have also revealed the special features of their final show in the NEO ROMANCE BUTTERFLY tour, which will take place on May 4 at Shibuya WWW:
  1. BAND SET
  2. OP MOVIE
  3. STAGE SET & decorations
  4. Important new song
  5. First performance of an existing song in the current lineup
  6. VJ
  7. Video recording
And during a recent online broadcast, it was announced that the tour finale will also feature "a lot of super important announcements."

March 15 marked two years since Zenbu Kimi no Sei da’s performance at Budokan, one year since the group’s revival, and, consequently, one year since Muku and Hikari joined the group.

It was such a wonderful day, I smiled so much and felt so happy❕ I hope I was able to make you super happy too🩵
I will continue to do my best in my second year❕

During a recent livestream, USHIMITSU announced that at their upcoming first solo performance on May 31, they will be changing their concept (despite the fact that the group’s concept has not been publicly revealed yet).

On March 4, the third online concert in the URTHANATOS Online series took place, featuring performances by KAQRIYOTERROR, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, and Zenbu Kimi no Sei da. The archive of the stream is still available on YouTube:

It's particularly noteworthy because "Zenkimi" performed "Kakumei Zenya," while "Tefutefu" performed "ash." and "TenohiraNoTomoshibi"—songs that are rarely included in online concerts.

The next codomomental performance in Shanghai has been officially announced. As previously reported by Chinese sources, the event is scheduled for May 1. It is said that "all the ladies" of the company will participate (but that might change).

An event celebrating codomomental’s 10th anniversary has been announced. It will take place on May 5 at club asia, with a lineup that includes Zenbu Kimi no Sei da, Not Secured, Loose Ends, TOKYO TEFUTEFU, KAQRIYOTERROR, USHIMITSU, futatsuna, USOTSUKINAISHO, MAOAⅡA, été, and Ukyo (former drummer of popoq, performing as a DJ). Additionally, it seems that more artists may be added to the lineup.
