update on Mayu and Midoriko (re posting since it ended in the previous page)

can't help but panic a little each time they post an statement with the members names



the first part is that Mayu injured her foot, apparently while at her home she accidentally dropped a glass bowl and got a deep cut that needed stitches, she is still going to participate in their next concerts but is not going to be able dance or move on stage





the other part of the statement is that they make official what we knew already and is that due to illness Midoriko is going to be absent from their following concerts until further notice

this part take it with a grain of salt since it was random fans from who were commenting on it but seems that the condition Midoriko has is meniere's disease

again i read that from Japanese fans, dunno from where they got the info but many of them were saying that, (assuming is true) it sucks for sure but at least it can be treated, let's hope both of them recover soon

so again hopefully they both recover soon

so in March of this year

A WACK subsidiary "ALL INc." has been established




long story short, Watanabe gave 20 million yen (about $150,000 / 200,000 dollars) to a high school girl called "Suzuki" who is currently an student in Watanabe's "WACK juku" (some sort of private academy where Watanabe is training future producers and such) the money is going to be use to hold the "THE LAST CHANCE AUDITION" the goal is to create an idol group which are then going to debut later this year, the audition camp is going to be in early May

...but there is a twist, the reason why is called "the last chance" is because while trainees that pass the audition are going to debut in an upcoming idol group the ones that fail are instead going to be offered 1 million yen under the condition that they accept to permanently give up on their dreams of becoming idols (no idea how they are going to enforce that)

i believe Watanabe founded WACK juku during the pandemic, right? i believe it was posted somewhere already in this thread but that was in 2020 or so, i legitimately forgot about it

i read people saying that 1 million yen isn't enough to accept giving up on yours dreams and i guess that could be true? that said $8k / $10k is a lot of money specially for a 16 / 17 / 18 year old girl, hell that is decent money for people of all ages

and again i have no idea how they could even enforce that, a contract that says you are never going to try becoming an idol is not going to fly in any serious court

personally i'm more curious about this "Suzuki" girl who is the one who put the audition together

and actually it was actually announced last year but i forgot

btw Nao won the popularity poll so she is going to get a solo debut

in any case, 2022 was really crappy for MAMESHiBA so is nice to see 2023 being kinder to the group

technically they aren't a WACK group but their label All INc. is a subsidiary of WACK and they are being funded by Watanabe

It's an easy way to put the spotlight on them and have the BiSH members select them would/will have BiSH fans interested in checking them out.

the risky thing about that is that it can also backfire, if fans were expected them to be just like BiSH they may be disappointed by their first releases and may don't stick around to see what they do next

i really don't think is the fault of the BiTE A SHOCK members, getting to be in the successor group of BiSH is such a big opportunity and yet at least for now they don't have control of the group's direction, seems the main issue here is that their debut songs don't feel like BiSH's songs which is ironic since both "PATiENT" and "THE NEXT" were recorded by BiSH, an easy fix would have been to call Kenta who basically created the "WACK sound" to write their debut and once they establish themselves they could start experimenting to make their own sound

and speaking of that, a few weeks ago Watanabe was mad because some fans were asking him about why they were so different from BiSH and he was like "thanks for the money", "you can leave", "bye bye BiSH fans", etc

no need for Watanabe to feel attacked

that's a good question, BiSH were at the top of WACK's hierarchy both in seniority and popularity so everyone looked up to them, on the other hand BiTE A SHOCK are the newest group yet they still are supposed to the former's successor and for what we know Watanabe is expecting them to take BiSH's place in the company, so kinda awkward

although lately WACK has been debuting tons of new groups so the others probably are used to meeting new people, for now we already got the first interaction between them and the other groups, BiTE A SHOCK started a radio show "BiTE BiTER BiTEST" is the same radio where ExWHYZ and ASP have their own shows

some interesting things,

this is the first TIF event attended by TONAi BOUSHO and BiTE A SHOCK
this is the first TIF event not attended by BiSH or by the members of EMPiRE / ExWHYZ

in the case of ExWHYZ is because a performance from their current tour was schedule for the same day as TIF, not even in the same prefecture so it was impossible to attend both

and speaking of new Hobbies Yu-ki started a new tradition were at the end of their concerts she is going to have a toast and post it to Twitter (or X) she says that after the tour ends she wants to do a live stream and hold a toast with fans via streaming
