the "eo" sound is ʌ phonetics i.e. sun, luck, which is basically the uh sound so jungyun might be the closest lel
For me, either way is fine. I'm not that militant when it comes to 정연 english spelling. It's just that JYPE made "Jeongyeon" the official english spelling of her name after Sixteen when they debuted.

How about Nayeon's last name? Is it Im or Lim? Does the "L" have any sound in Korean?

Actually, under Revised Romanization of Korean, "Jeongyeon" is correct. But romanization differences are common when dealing with non-Latin script languages, so it's not a big deal.

I didn't know that they have standard transliteration guide to make such spelling "official".

Yeah, same thing with 이

Also with "최" It's pronounced in english as Choi but in Korean they pronounced as "Chwe" (like how you pronounce wet).
Same as with Park. In Korean it's written "박" and pronounced Pak without the 'r' sound.
