I rly dont see what the problem is for YOY MV, budget isnt the be all end all, YOY was fun and interesting, that matters more. And What Is Love is imo an amazing mv because of all the references, that gives it so much replay value. I dont care about big budget just for the sake of big budget. WIL is a perfect example of an excellent mv that actually has replay value, it checks all the boxes for what makes a mv good and fun to watch, and make you want to watch again. Also if you think even the cheaper twice MVs only cost 100-300k, its way way more than that. You cant do jack shit with 100k.
I agree, the question shouldn't just be about budget.

Both are chroma/cg videos in Fancy and What is Love? so the budget probably wasn't hugely different for either one. The problem is WiL? is actually an interesting video, Fancy isn't really. It has no concept, story, theme, etc it's just a random assortment of scenes really...the problem is more with creativity.

Fancy isn't really an interesting MV, not really something a bigger budget would fix.. Creativity is the issue.

I was agreeing with you, but then you pulled a YG card who has a drugs laboratory, bot servers, embezzlement, etc. Yeah, YG is not the best model on "other ways to subsidize"...
You really think YG was using that money to fund his groups' MVs? He simply couldn't do it, because there are such things as financial reports and people would question additional funds. YG's illegal stuff was separate.

LMAO. I may not know exactly how the money situation works, but I know I've spent more time analyzing revenue, album sales, potential margins, and reading through analyst reports compared to others who're just upset at shady CGI. I think people tend to over-estimate how much money the girls and JYPE are making - they are certainly making money, but probably not as much as people think.

Let's not forget that while JYPE was recovering from their WG US endeavors, SME and YGE had top BGs like EXO and BB to fill their coffers for years - 2PM, JYPE's biggest 2nd gen BG doesn't even come close. Even with Suzy and 2PM in their roster, JYPE's 2015 net income was a paltry USD 3 million. (SME 2015 net income: 15M (x5); YGE 2015 net income: 20M (x7)). People tend to be more cautious financially when they've taken a big loss recently, and are just starting rebuild their savings.

I won't say much about YGE, other than to ponder about their "loss-making" concert tours.

Anyways, grass is always greener on the other side - personally I'd rather not fixate on one thing and look at the overall picture for Twice. Even with the slightly funky cgi (doesn't irk me as much as others), I'll still take Fancy over ZZB and its clearly more expensive cgi any day.
If you know all that stuff then bother explaining. I estimate think 300-400k is a good budget for an MV. It is an amount views alone can pay back. Tell me your estimates and why do you think Twice and JYP will get broke. Now we are gonna pitty JYP and girls, for real? I already said, we might not know exactly how much they are definitely making more than any other group except BTS. If Twice can't spend more money on MVs no one should be able to.

How could you make such a conclusion from that logic? If JYP made only 3 million in profits in 2015 yet Twice had higher budget MVs, then what is the problem now that they are much more rich? And why do other group get them? Ok, you are saying Itzy is at "money bumping" point, so what about SK? They are not rookies anymore and their income is much lower than Twice so maybe they are the ones whose spendings should be cut?

You are pretending to think in business point of view, well you'd definitely fail your business because no company cuts funding on their most profitable product to spend more on risk investments. It is like Toyota cutting fundings on their benchmark Camry to risk with autonomous cars. That's bullshit. Camry have a face to lose, image to keep. If they fuck up Camry and their autonomous cars don't find their place in the market they won't recover. From business point of view, there should be nothing more important to JYP to keep Twice fandom and Got7 fandom and not lose them to other groups with better content.

You underestimate importance of image. There is a reason why BigBang is still talked about group while their peers are long forgotten. Because they always kept the bar high with their content. You sound like someone who accepted that 5 year rule and think Twice should rush to collect to money for their retirement while I want them to have a long lasting career and keep growing.
