Kpop fans quote itunes a lot but do people know if it has much market share anymore? Apple Music is now around and Itunes is being replaced is it not?

Besides that the reasons SNSD and TWICE situations can’t be compared is that’s SNSD didn’t had tough competition. T-ara has that bullying scandal, Kara was on a decline, and it was obvious that 2NE1 wouldn’t have touched them to get the NGG crown.
IF EVEN SNSD flopped with RDR and or THE BOYS, MR MR. They didn’t had a IZONE, BLACKPINK, RED VELVET against them.

There's probably too many variables too compare directly and you're right in that the market is really saturated at the moment but I was just thinking more in general.

Apink were semi-big with a cute concept, then changed and sort of chart still? Not sure if anything else played a part - I guess the 3rd gen with Twice and co coming through ate a lot of fans up like the 4th gen will eventually do with the 3rd gen.

Yeah apink was semi big, but they weren’t as big as t-ara, Kara and even sistar back then.

Apink still charted well but the song still has a Apink vibe to it. They didn’t change it drastically.

2010 had T-ara,2ne1,Kara,and sistsar. Girls generation was being outsold in digitals by 3 groups and was on par physicals wise in Japan by Kara. They only sold about 40-50k more on their Korean album compared to 2ne1 that year too. Just a heads up for newer KPop fans.

I would never believe that in pop music industry any label would voluntary release a "less catchy track" just to sound more mature. It's pretty normal that sometimes you are able to find right song, catchy enough to top charts, and the next time you can't.

Fancy was too good, it actually managed to performe like a true hit even in current market enviroment, we should have appreciated it more. You can't have songs like that all the time.

Also those ollipop&halsey guys probably wasted the biggest chance in their careers, because their best song went to Loona pre-debut (Chuu) lol. Sad, wish them luck in the future.

Think some peeps are being a bit deluded here if they think JYPE is not going to look at the performance of this song in SK, with most likely just one week in the top 10 with AKMU dropping today, and not be a bit worried.

Not sure how Feel Special is doing compared to Itzy/RV's releases last month this early on? but considering charting in Korea is usually their forte (only BTS recently have probably taken them over out of all groups but they're now an anomaly, BP around on par/bit below - shame neither will release anything soon as they'd be a good barometre on most aspects like charting/youtube etc) this will stick out quite a bit.

i personally like the new sound so it's a shame it's not being reflected - and I don' think it's something the girls completely ignore as they did say prior to Fancy about wanting to hit no.1 on Melon

Seems like FS will stabilize in the teens on the daily melon. Around the same as Icy.

On the gaon weekly digital chart, Icy peaked at 10, ZZB 11, Umpah 18. The RV songs have had less longevity and have lost unique listeners faster.

Mamamoo is probably the group that is positioned to do the best digitally in this extreme ballad loving era. Wheein recently had a top 5 song on the gaon weeklies.

I has nothing to do with concept. JYP songs are Twice's worst charting songs in general. Even though I like this song, it is obvious public don't give a shit about JYP songs anymore. Both Itzy and Twice could've charted better.
