JYP sometimes really aggravates me. There's no way you can convince me that Riria gave a better performance than Yuna and Rio... I know he's not basing his judgement on technical skills alone, but in every box, they gave a better performance. Riria is a nice girl and she seems sweet, but it just reeks of hypocrisy

I think you answered your question yourself, JYP wasn't basing his judgement on technical skills alone. I think Yuna and Rio are better dancers than Riria, but I can also agree on the comments JYP made to both girls (based on the twt trans). Riria, although lacks dancing skills, she performed with power, effort, and great enthusiasm which I'm sure JYP sure noticed too. Even when comparing Riria's DD to the other girls' DD cover, Riria was no doubt the best in terms of energy, dance, and facial expressions as an idol. I can agree with JYP with his passing of Riria, while not passing Rio and Yuna. To me, Rio's performance was great skill-wise as a dancer, but like JYP said, an idol and dancer are different. Yuna's performance was neither great or caught my attention as a viewer. If I were to compare, Yuna and Miihi's TWICE cover, (which doesn't require too much dance skills) I can definitely see why Miihi had gotten the dance triangle and not Yuna.

He criticised Yuna for dancing to please others but then told Rio she was dancing to please herself and should dance to please others... He tells them that they need to be showcase themselves more but then praises others for their “acting” skills (practiced facial expressions) yes some of his critiques are accurate and need to be said, but you can’t tell me that he isn’t being even just a little bit extraI think you answered your question yourself, JYP wasn't basing his judgement on technical skills alone. + the fact JYP intended both Sixteen and Stray Kids to make 7 member groups originally (but ended up with 9 both times) makes 7 a strong possibility but then again he also described Nizi as a Japanese Twice and the graphic at the presentation had 9 members so...yeah I think either 9 or 7I've been thinking since they're called Nizi which means rainbow and there are 7 colors in the rainbow... 7 members?

Riria was the only member of the 3 that gave an honest performance which is integral to JYPE as a whole.JYP sometimes really aggravates me. Both Yuna and Rio are rather pretentious, if you recall Mako that wanted to have a Concept for herself, JYPark's reply was she didn't need it, just be herself. Both girls looked like they were over acting to win points rather than try to show something about themselves..... hmmmmm then again if they were showing themselves it wasn't really appealing
Let's put it another way, Yuna is basically Sixteen version of Somi, Rio is Natty and Mako is Momo, although Mako has more confidence than Momo when she was on Sixteen.
Riria may not have the talent to be a Main or Lead Dancer but in a group with Mako, she really doesn't need to be but when you think about it, she's possibly closer to the Japanese Girl Next Door than the others that are wannabe Kpop Idols.
Yuna and Rio need waaaaaaaaayyyyy better songs as neither helped them, both looked better in Auditions.
Anyway, there are definitely other ways to when the Dance badge and I suspect that both Yuna and Rio will be heading to Japan with all the coverage they have gotten so far

With your Nizi to Sixteen comparisons, I would say Ayaka is the Tzuyu or the visual that viewers favor. However she is very raw and seems pretty nervous when performing. Not sure if JYP will see enough potential in her to bring her to Korea.

The show will be featured on Sukkiri again on the 24th previewing the vocal evaluation.
Nizi Project will be uploaded to free vod platform Gyao on a delay every Friday from now on too. Episode 1 is already up. Looks like after episode 2 they will be up for 1 week only.

Glad we get to see the girls that didn't get the spotlight yet. Looks like we'll get to see Oe Riku on the singing evaluation. Also seems like Nina will show more of her singing ability which should be fun. Miihi did a great job this last episode. Started a bit shaky and not sure if it was the nerves or her voice wasn't warmed up but she couldn't do the falsetto but later she nailed it. Momoka and Miu seemed to have improved a lot, which was very impressive, specially Miu. Ririka did well with the dancing. Far from perfect but very cute and charming which is the main point of Cheer Up. I think JYP was too impressed by Nina's singing and personality on her audition because personally her dance didn't show me much. She wasn't bad, but she was also not impressive. I think here she showed the same thing. She wasn't horrible, but you could definitely tell dancing isn't her forte. She was a bit stiff at parts and seemed off beat from time to time, but again nothing too atrocious. With some proper training by a dance instructor she will do fine imo. Looking forward to her singing because that is what impressed me the most from her. I understand why they don't show everyone but I wish they at least put it on a vod place everyone's audition and performance so I could see how everyone did. It's impossible to judge JYP's rankings without that, and it would be great to get a clue on the girls that didn't get any screen time. There are like at least 7 girls that we know almost nothing about. From the ones we got to see Mako imo deserves 1st place. Miihi did well, but I wasn't as impressed as JYP.
I wonder how many got to go to Korea. I kind of hope everyone because 1 week is not nearly enough to judge if they can make it in a group. If they were all JYP trainees sure because you already have a lot of info on them and how they respond to training and how is their work ethic etc, but 1 week for girls all you know is their audition process isn't fair.
Very curious they are uploading the show to a free vod platform too. I wonder if this was already a contract before the show started or if they decided it recently. That combined with when season 2 starts on TV should shoot the popularity of the show in Japan straight up.
Also I think this show highlight just how much of a difference professional training makes, but also how stressful it can be. Just to see how happy and relieved the JYP trainees are when they get validation on all the work they put in you can tell how important this is to them.
I also think for the most part JYP is right with his evaluation, but I think his advice is often very vague, confusing and not helpful. He forgets these are children. Telling them they are just dancing/singing as practiced and not as themselves doesn't help. Most of them have no idea who they are. He also makes a lot of assumptions that are really unnecessary and a bit rude at times. I wish he were more objective of what they did wrong so they could fix it instead of undermining their confidence without direction. Very much how I felt like in Sixteen.
Personally I feel like Mako, Miihi and Rima seem to be locked in. There is a lot they have to show so any number of things can happen to change that. Let's not forget what we are seeing right now was filmed August 2019 or earlier in the audition part. Still, initially I was unsure if JYPE was going all in on making their Japanese trainees into a Japanese girl group instead of saving them for a future Korean group, but by the editing and how JYP himself is evaluating them it feels like this isn't just a showcase of their trainees, rather a legitimate screening for the girl group.
I wonder why Yuna didn't audition with the Japanese trainees though. My guess is because she is half Korean she trained with the Korean trainees. I also wonder how did she audition. If it was something she or the company decided from the announcement of the show or if it happened later on. A lot of info we will never get probably.
It was funny how JYP asked Momoka about rapping. She couldn't really dance or sing but JYP was so enchanted he asked about rapping which isn't really common for female pop singers in Japan. It was already apparent he was making a K-pop style group in Japan the more the show went on but this episode just cemented it for me.

Miihi is also my favorite. I think she knows very well where her strength lies which are brighter images and ballad-like songs. I really like her voice. Seems like she is also a JYP favorite in the show. Getting both dance and vocal pendants on the first try, she's on a roll! Seems like she's a shoe-in for Nizi.
Can't wait to see other contestants' vocals
