Corner Candy Shop Campaign Week: Commence

Today, we reveal our three wonderful candidates who all want to become the first-ever President of Corner Candy Shop. We will hold votes for a week until March 20th, 6 PM GMT (aka Animal Crossing day) and then our President, VP and the runner up will be revealed.

And now for some words from our Corner Candy Shop spokescat, Par!

Candidate 1: @BlessMeAchoo

For the banner, the fonts I used are the fonts that Monsta X have used over the years. I'm a Monbebe so it reflects my love of Monsta X!~ I decided to use a colour scheme of blue and yellow as it has a summery feeling, so it matches with my usual set. I decided to include a triangle in the design as I like to use triangles and it makes it a little more visually interesting than a simple rectangle.

Two of my badges feature Hyungwon memes. I'm known to post Hyungwon reaction gifs and memes on the forum, so it seemed fitting to include this in the badges. I also included a Shownu badge with a summer aesthetic that features my usual DP. The final badge is a simple design with just text. The fonts featured match the ones used by Monsta X that I also used in my logo banner.

I made two posters, both are in keeping with my colour scheme. I kept them simple to make them more eye catching. I also made a banner that matches with them. I also made a fake website because I thought it would be kinda cute lol. For a more unique item, I made a box of tissues. I thought it would be a funny touch considering my username. Also they could be used to wipe the tears of defeat from my opponents > lol

Candidate 2: @Ombré

I chose to keep it simple. With the lightbulb it goes along with slogan let's bring light.

Candidate 3: @AKID❀KI

So first off i tried to think of what matters to me. And given i come from a country where racism is rampant and i see people try to cause division among the population, what spoke to me was unity. I wanted to base my campaign on unity. Bring together the population as one entity. I truly do believe that if you want to advance as a country and make the future better for the whole nation, you need to unite and work together. When you are divided it is easy to blame other parties or be too focused on hate to actually focus on the bigger issues. Many politicians try to make the country more divided, they try to turn people against each other. They try to feed hatred instead of quelling it.

In my country, we had a war that lasted for more than 30 years. It set the country back by decades. We had so many intelligent people who could have advanced the economy, leave the country entirely. So many lives were lost. And Sri lanka just came to a halt. The war has been over for a decade now, but the places that were affected still haven't recovered. Jaffna was one of the major cities before the War. It had the best university in the country. It had a library filled with rare manuscripts. It had a thriving population. And now, it is a shell of what it was.

A great city is now... barely a city at all.

And the thing is it is happening again. Now racists are trying to fuel hatred between muslims and sinhalese. As a country we can't be going from one civil war to another. We can't be focused on being divided. Ostracizing a significant amount of the population is not going to lead to a better Sri lanka. It will lead to a sri lanka that stagnates again. A sri lanka that gets caught in a war again. A sri lanka that falls behind and loses the people who proudly call it their home... again.

That is not the future I want. And i know it is not the future that many lankan youths want. We want a thriving economy. We want to become a country that is not shrouded in debt. We want to become a developed country. We want a bright future. And to do that we need to come together as one nation. As then and only then can we shape our future the way we want it to be.

The hands being held together is kind of like a symbol for the campaign and I wish to use it in as much merch as I can. Plus you would see a cute kitty in the 2nd badge. He is the campaign mascot Dokio. More info on him in the next section. I also wanted everything in the campaign to be within the same colour scheme. I picked orange, white and blue because orange signifies enthusiasm, creativity, energy, success, determination and happiness. It is a colour that is associated with the youth. Blue represents depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and sincerity. White represents goodness and peace. I also wanted the badges to not be over designed or too intricate. I wanted them to match the simplicity of the banner.

So I thought of what i wanted to make and i think mascot plushies are really cute. And nowadays everyone loves cute things and little tokens to show they were part of something awesome. So keeping that in mind, I decided I am going to make a cat mascot plushie for the campaign. He is an orange tabby cat Called Dokio (Yes i am so creative). I picked out shades of the orange i picked for the banner for the cat's colour. And i decided to go with the same blue as the banner for the shirt. The same blue is also in the cat's eyes cause i love me some easy peasy detail. The tee shirt is removable so without the tee shirt he will look like in the 2nd pic of the plushie.

Item 2 is a bookmark i made. I figured i would make it look similar to the banner so people can associate it with ease to the campaign and the banner. I love reading books and bookmarks seemed like something that should be there as part of the merch.

Item 3 is a pendant with a chain. People love wearing and collecting jewellery and I thought well the symbol is very pretty so even if i lose the campaign, you can still wear it. I wanted Version 1 to be a set where the pendant is in different pieces attached to chains. when the pieces are put together they show the symbol of hands holding one another. I felt this was symbolic and a cute way to make the message of the campaign resonate more. You need to purchase the set and you can give the remaining parts to your friends and people you care about. Version 2 is the pendant with the symbol as a whole.

Item 4 is a foam hand using the orange colour from the colour scheme.

To celebrate the first wonderful year of this forum, Corner Candy Shop's next task will be focused on the anniversary.
You don't have to be an official Corner Candy Shop member to take part - feel free to join us for this task!

You have two options for this task.

OPTION 1: A birthday card or letter

Design a birthday card or letter dedicated to Hallyu+ on its birthday.
You can design this however you like and write whatever you want in the card/letter.

OPTION 2: A birthday present

If you want to have a bit more freedom - this is the option you'll want to do.
Make whatever you like! Just remember it's a birthday gift!
